Perfect For Beginners!
This is our family's first Ripstik and all I can say is "wow". My eleven year old daughter asked me to get her this. I'm a 40 year old father and after a few hours, I'm hooked! The following week I bought myself a Ripstik-G (which I believe is similar to the original) and that's how I got to compare them.
And oh, never try anything for the first time without ample protection. Wrist pads in particular. You'll find out why when you fall. And believe me, you don't want to.
-The Ripstik Air is a tad shorter than the Risptik G. If you have a wide stance, go for G.
-Air is also lighter than G, which makes it great for people who can do jumps which I can't... yet. G stands for "grind" which I don't do... yet. And yes it's heavier than Air which makes it more stable in my opinion.
-Air has that sandpaper feel on the deck which gives a real good grip for almost any type of shoes and makes it safer especially for kids. I tried riding the G wearing cowboy boots and let me tell you, it's not a good idea. No, I didn't fall but it made me slow and fashionably horrible.
-Air has "spring-loaded" wheels; they snap back to the center. This, in my opinion, lessens the effort of carving. A little tug or snap translates into a few feet! It's less frustrating for beginners. The drawback though is the loss of control. Since you have a tendency to go real fast real quick, turns are quite scary to do! The G is all about control. I scatter little obstacles like books, chairs, water bottles and the like in our living room and I'd be "snaking" around them real slow. It's like surfing in a pond! I can stay on deck for thirty minutes and it's beautiful!
So that's what I think. If you go for speed, get Air; for control, get the G (or the original). Either way you'll have an experience like you never had before.
Enjoy!

Nice Ripstik
I just bought A Blue Ripstik air a few days ago, and I really am enjoying it! It rides nice and smooth, and is easy to start on.
Pros: one piece easy to ride light spring loaded wheels Cons: Griptape falls off

ripstik air!
the ripstik air is so good! i'm 7 years old and i can ride it! though i don't do oliies yet anyway buy it!
Rating :
Far Superior
The ripstik air is the best ripstik by far. The original is great and all, but the air has many better qualities. I've had the opportunity to ride all versions of the ripstik and this is my favorite. It rides smoother and more quiet to the point that I can make a phone call while riding. It causes much less strain on your legs and ankles so you can ride longer. It is overall a better and higher quality ripstik.

Nice Sneakers for my girls
The details and style of the shoes are nice. I didn't realize that they were not tie-up shoes, but were actually velcro types- maybe because of the toddler size I ordered. That was disappointing as I prefer being able to tie the shoes for a more secure fit.

Shoes do not hold up to a 10 yr old
The shoes looked great when I got them, but after my son wore them only twice, they look scuffed up and old.
Rating :
Looks great runs small a bit small
Order a 0.5 size larger than you normally would, as these seems to run a bit smaller than we're used to in Europe. My son normally wear size 3.5 (35), but we had to order size 4 (36) in these. Other than that these are durable, comfortable and weel made.
Rating :
Most durable children's shoe I've seen!
I bought a pair of Etnies for my one year old son and they are the most durable shoe out there! Our puppy even sneaks them into the corner and has at them and you can't even tell! My son loves them so much he begs for me to put them on him throughout the day so they must be really comfy for him. They have "grow with me" design that help them to fit longer and they have a unique shape that seems to conform to a child's foot. We now have three pairs!
Rating :
Awesome x-mas
My son asked for a pair of ES for x-mas... when his dad and I bought these shoes we were a little scared that he would not like them. When he opened up the box he not only loved the fact that they were Etnies, but he loved the design on the shoe. Perfect shoe for a 6 year old.

Nice Looking - Too Small for X-Large
This is a great looking skateboard helmet. I bought it for my 15 year old son, thinking the X-Large should be plenty big enough. It was way too small on his head though and had to return it.
Rating :
great helmet for the price
I got this helmet for my almost 4yr old as he really wanted "skateboarding" helmet and most helmets of this kind out there cost much more than he needs at this point. His head is bigger than average for his age (20.5") and the small size fit a little bit loose (I would say it fits 21" perfectly). I fixed it by sticking the extra pad supplied with the helmet on top of the front insert padding. Now it fits snug and this way it will fit him longer. The packaging says that small is for age 12 and younger and the large is 13 and over. Helmet looks very cool and it is much better quality than I expected for the price.
Rating :
This is an a L or XL helmet beware
Please listen to what the other reviews say when they mention this is small for a Large helmet. I bought it because the listing states Large/X Large thinking it would fit being a 'Mens L/XL size' and it was way too small.
Do not buy this for anyone larger than a teenager/young adult unless they have a really small head or you'll be sending it back.
Can't speak to the quality or usage of the helmet because it's just too small for me to use.
Rating :
XL helmet if you remove some of the padding.
It's good if you take some of the pads out of it. It's a good for the price tag.
Rating :
This is actually a children's helmet
Thus, "large/x-large" translates to a hat size between 7-1/4 and 7-1/2. In spite of that, it's quite heavy and bulky. For $12, though, it does the trick.

Great helmet!
We bought this for our 7 year old son to go with a skateboard we got him. Helmet fits great. Received very timely.

Nice looking and strong
My son did not like wearing his diego helmet. It fit funny and bothered him. He doesn't mind wearing this one. It looks like one for "big boys' (he's five). It is nice looking and seems like it will protect him very well.

Razor Child V-17 Helmet
Customer support at [...] was very helpful in sorting through which model of V-17 helmet is for children 5+ (small shell) and which is for children 8+ (medium shell). The children 5+ small one is the one reviewed here and was only available online at the time of this purchase. The model number is 97780. If you want the small one be sure it has this model number as opposed to 97778 which is the bigger one for 8+ years old.
My son is almost 5 and still this helmet was pretty loose on him. It comes with two foam inserts, one is slightly thicker than the other. However, they are not meant to be used both at the same time. We have to use them both (safety pinned in) to make it snug. I wish this helmet came with inserts that were desinged to be added to the existing foam to make it tighter instead of designed to use one insert or the other. I later saw another 5+ helmet (may have been a Tony Hawk one) at Toys R Us that had much thicker foam padding and fit him tighter.
Still he loves the helmet and it looks sharp on him. It is of high quality in my opinion.
1/8/2010 update. Helmet still great for my 6.5 yr old son. BTW, if looking for the satin pink version of this helmet, the model number is 97784 and if looking for the matte black version of this helmet, the model number is 97785.
97780 - Child's gloss black 97785 - Child's matte black 97784 - Child's satin pink
Rating :
Great for grandson
Thankfully so far, this helmet hasn't been put to the "crash test" yet, but it fits comfortably on his head and makes his mom and myself feel much more secure about his safety while he's on his skateboard.

Nail sticking up into shoe!
My daughter, who just received these as a gift, asked me to re-insert the little foam insert into her skate. In doing so I noticed a thick, round piece of plastic jutting up in center of the heel area of the shoe. It was the size & shape of a pencil eraser, definitely not something that you want jutting into the heel of your child's foot.
I then pushed my hand further into the shoe to see if there were any more, and found a nail. The nail was sticking up into the shoe over a 1/4" of an inch. Seriously unacceptable! FYI, I am not referring to the two rivets that are visible if you remove the liner, I am talking about a metal spike sticking up into the shoe cavity.
If you have or are given these skates, please remove the foam inserts and check the insides of the shoes before giving them to a child. Better yet, purchase a higher-quality skate from a brand that exercises proper construction and quality control.

roller city
Finding a good pair of skates for a girl was quite a chore There are more skates out there for women then girls. We didn't want professional skates and we didn't want single line skates. I looked for wheels that were rounded on the edge so they wouldn't be such a stiff ride. These skates are great. This was my 8 year old granddaughter's first pair of skates and they were easy for her to control once she was on her own, which didn't take long. One thing I highly recommend is getting the full set of protective gear, the ones with the open fingered gloves, what a scrape saver that was because if she fell, which was quite often at first, she hit the knee pads and caught herself with her hands and elbows so every time and got right back up without a tear or hesitation to keep going. They are also good quality. They ride nice, easy to control.

Good beginner skates
My seven year old wanted roller skates and we could not find any at retail stores (Target, Walmart, Dicks, etc). I did not want her in roller blades yet and that was all they sold. Happily we found several types of skates on Amazon! She dislikes pink so these were perfect for her. They are very sturdy, attractive skates for a beginner. She loves them and has had no problems skating in them. I also found they ran true to her shoe size. We ordered 1/2 size larger so she could wear them with thick socks.

Question : What are the best settings for sports/action shots on my Nikon D40?
I'm going to my niece's cheer leading competition and am most likely shooting from the stands. I have a Nikon D40 with a 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens. What would be the best settings to capture great action shots? I normally get blurry, ghost-like shots when shooting in the sport mode. Any suggestions?
Answer:
The problem may be the lighting. If it's indoors, the shutter speed may be too low to get good freeze-the-frame shots.Work in shutter-priority mode and set to 1/250 of a second. If the camera can't set your aperture low enough for that to work, adjust your ISO higher. The danger in this is that with a higher ISO you'll get grainier pictures and lose clarity, but it may be the only option you've got. I'd try to go no higher than ISO 800.ISO + Speed + Aperture = Exposure.A good exposure calculator is linked to below.

Question : How do i start a clothing company in action sports?
i want to have a company like DC SHOES. BURTON. ETNIES. PLAN B SKATEBOARD. BILLABONG. I love action sports and i want to design and create. Dont know what to study in college or how to start. Please help!!
Answer:
u need to study fashion in high school and most high schools have 3 years of it and then at the end you get a certificate for it. same thing in college look for courses that involve business, fashion design, industry, and other thing that would have to do involving mass production. And then after that you might want to start making shirts with a pretty mainstream name. like those you listed above. finding the rite name might be pretty hard though. spend a while making a pretty cool looking logo for your shirts too. if you talk to local board shops that also sell apparell, then you could ask them if they could consider buying your shirts. once they buy your shirts, you can go to local skateparks to look for skaters that would maybe like to be sponsored by you. give them free shirts and stuff like that maybe a lil cash too. enter them in competitions and say you want some of their prize $. may sound like an ass thing to do, but hey, it works.

Question : Can the good people of Yahoo help me choose a good digital camera for sports action shots?
There are so many reviews at all the different web sites that sell cameras. Some people love the camera's they bought while the person reviewing right after them will absolutely hate it. I'm on a budget up to $500. This camera will be for sports shots of my kids participating in soccer, hockey, and baseball. PLEASE HELP Thanks!!
Answer:
At that budget, you may be looking at purchasing a used DSLR with something like a 55-200mm or 70-300mm lens.A DSLR because they are the only cameras that have a small enough shutter lag to "catch" the action when you press the shutter release.A long lens to be able to get good tight shots of the players. You can buy a new DSLR for under $500, but it will not have THE lens you really need.http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11208748&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=&lang=en-US&s= 1

Question : if i am shooting sports action pictures what camera or mega pixels should i get?
I am a very active person. Lot's of marathons, triathlons, etc. I would like to have a camera that takes great pics that is light and for on the go. I do not know much, but i would like quality that is a smaller camera and durable. Price range i would like to keep under $100 because it will take a lot of abuse.
Answer:
Resolution (megapixels) has nothing to do with action photos. Resolution doesnt distinguish action from still. Many advanced point n shoots have long zooms and "Action" or "Sports" modes which work decently. Some have manual control options which would help. You get more control and features in bridge cameras and even more in DSLRs.The problem is the more sophisticated the camera the more youll need to learn. Your question tells me you know very little right now. No camera is going to automatically take great photos until you know how to use it.You need to add more info to your question to get any meaningful recommendations. Whats your price range? Do you want sophisticated or simple? Do you want a pocket camera or something large? Many cameras will take sports photos so you need to narrow down the choices a bit.
