Cool product!

Got this Indo board for my 11 yr old daughter who loves surfing and skating. It's an awesome core workout and is excellent for balance. This is not for the faint of heart though. Stand next to something or someone stable while learning this. It can get away from you in a big hurry!

Love it

I'm 29 years old and am very out of shape and overweight. I always wanted to try one, so I bought it. I picked it up fast and try doing it for a half hour or so. It builds up leg strength, gets the blood flowing through your body, and is just fun. Anyway, it's not just for kids, skaters or surfers. It just takes a little practice, just don't crack your skull.

Indo Board Training Package with IndoFlo cushion

Great product!!! I recommend this to anyone wanting a fun and different way to exercise and achieve better balance! Use it outside in the grass at first until you get more used to it because you WILL fall off and lose your balance in the beginning. It was well worth the money!

fun on the edge

I bought the indo board for my daughter for Christmas. She is 10 and loves it! In a very short time she was swishing side to side with ease. Great fun for the entire family, though mind yourself, my husband took a nasty spill. If you move too quickly side to side you can easily loose control and wipe out. We keep it on a carpeted surface which seems to keep speed more controllable.

!! Those are toys !!

Hard to find good short fins for real diving.
Those are not.

Too soft shoe gives bad control of the fin.
Sizes good only for bare feet.
Thought good construction quality, material is no match for serious diving.

Only good for swimming pool.

Dont buy fins from net.
You have to try them for comfort and to be shure of quality.

Rating :

Very tight fit.

I ordered these fins to bodyboard but didn't get a chance to use them in the water. They are completely uncomfortable. The fins begin to bottle neck mid-foot and are tight towards the toes which caused my small toe to fold under my foot. The design is cool looking, but flawed. If the back strap comes off (from the side clips) then your fin is lost. Even if you tether your fins to your ankle, I can see how the front (red part) of the fins could fall off and get lost. I'm sure they work for some people but, unfortunately, not for me. I've already processed my return and dropped them off at the post office.

Great for travel

I purchased these to pack in a carry-on bag for a 5-day island trip. I'm a man with size 10.5 to 11 (US) feet & these fit quite well with no discomfort after 30-45 minute swims. The fins required a different kick than I'm used to but the change was obvious any easy. Not for a major snokeling trip but good for fun & easy to pack (kind of like comparing a point & shoot camera to a DSLR) :-)

Recommended for swimming only

Originally, I bought these fins for body boarding. After using these fins for my fifth time in less than a month, one of the side buckles broke off while swimming, and are now permanently unusable. If you are buying these for body boarding, then I HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU BUY CHURCHILLS OR ALLYS SWIM FINS. Another thing I noticed is that if you have somewhat wide feet, YOU WILL GET CRAMPS.

Pro: Padded ankle strap for comfort, extra ankle support/tether, recommended for swimming only, small enough for travel.

Con: Not a great ankle strap mechanism, not for body boarding.

Right tool for the job

I must say that I am quite pleased with these fins. I have been using them twice a week for about a month now and they are the right tool for the job. They are great for body surfing; body boarding; and light snorkeling in shallow, calm water and the extra ankle strap is brilliant! I love the neoprene padding on the heel and the foot pocket is soft enough for hours of use. These are not rockets in the open water by any means but, in waves and in very shallow water the stubby design is wonderful. I looked for months and, for this type of fin, I didn't think I was able to find anything better. My regular use has supported my decision. I only gave the Shredder Surf II fins four stars because they are fairly specific in there usefulness. If you are looking for speed in open water then you are going to want a fin designed more suited for scuba (much more expensive of course). My wife's pair is "Small" and she wears a women's US 8 (EURO 38-39) for most shoe brands. They fit her quite well. I have the "Large" size and my foot is men's US 11 (EURO 45). I seem to reach the limits of this size. My foot is not wide. Over all I am very pleased with this product.

Block Surf Single Surfboard Car Racks Block Surf Single Surfboard Car Racks

Editorial Review :

Block Surf racks are the industry standard. No rain gutters needed. Racks wrap through vehicle, greatly increasing the security of your boards! Securely carries up to three boards. Comes with convenient carry bag.

Customer Review :

Great product!

I got this to use while my normal surf hauler was out of town. These work better than expected and really lock down the boards tighter than I thought they would. Easy to use and take on/off. Would definetely recommend.

Rating :

Just what I needed

Been using this rack in several different rented and borrowed cars while on vacation, and have no complaints. Looks kind of flimsy, but once snugged up, it helds my 9' windsurf board securely, with no apparent slippage even at freeway speeds. No problems with roof denting, and the straps wrap tightly through the weatherstripping around the doors without leaving a permanent impression. For long-term use, get a real rack, but for occasional or short-term use, this is a great solution.

Rating :

Questionable at highway speeds

It seems that no surf rack manufacturer wants to list helpful information - such as dimensions - online, so I just had to order something and see how it worked. The directions that came with it were not much better. So what I don't know is whether my 9x3 stand-up paddleboard is too wide to be compatible with these racks. I simply could not get them tight enough to hold my board down comfortably at highway speeds, and after stopping three times to tighten them, I ended up using a rope toward the front of the car for extra support. Maybe it's because this is the first time I was using it, and the straps need to stretch out a bit. I don't know. They're fine up to about 35mph, but after that, it's a scary ride. I do recommend putting the front rack as close to the front of the car as possible; that seems to stabilize it. But pull tight, and have a rope for backup!

Rating :

Works Fine

These tie-downs work well on a car without a rack. The car is protected, the board is protected and held well. I did one long trip with a board on the car, and now use them all the time for the short drive to the beach. I don't cinch them down too tight on my son's soft (foam) board, because the board gets indents, but this is due to the type of board, not any problem with the tie straps. These have kept me from having to buy a rack for the car, which I would have had to buy straps and pads for anyway.

Rating :

Perfect Soft Rack

A friend of mine already had this soft rack and after using his I decided to purchase my own. It's perfect for one or two boards. We normally have two 8-footers on our mid-size sedan and it's totally fine...even at 75mph on the freeway. Surf's up.

    Great beginner board

I started surfing recently using a plastic "fun board" and it was quite difficult getting the hang of it. However, with this "foamie board", I have quickly progressed and will soon be moving on to proper board. Kool board!!

    Foamie Board

The product is very nice, but really bad quality, only lasted for my 2 sessions, after that the board bended like a banana, the item is just for kids, under 10 years old or less, this could not be buyed be an adult, I do surf and I bought it for my cousin, thought it would be better.

    Questions & Answers
Question : What's the difference between a surfing pack and a regular bag pack?
I'm looking for a surfing pack but I don't know what defines a "surf" pack from a skate bag from a regular back pack.

    Answer:
Nothing.. No one surfs with a backpack on, don't try to be cool and a poser and buy a "surf pack" because they don't exist. Besides, leaving a backpack on the beach is just asking for stuff to get stolen

Question : What sites and blogs do the surfing community communicate most on?
I'm looking to find out as much about the online surfing community as I can. Can anyone recommend their favorite blogs, twitter handles, or sites that you find most comprehensive? Which ones are most popular? Thanks!

    Answer:
Probably your best bet is to locate the site targeted at your local region. If you want general sites, I've found those below are often interesting and have comprehensive information on a regular basis. The #1 surfing blog site on yahoo is worldwidesurfers. It started out for surfers in the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia communities, but now has members from all over the world, including a couple of surfing hall of fame members, posting there on a regular basis.Another good site is google groups alt.surfing. This is the oldest blog site. There is a crew posting on the site that has used it for years. I first posted on the site when it started up around 1993 or 1994.Second light is a great site for the Florida crowd. Lots of interesting posts in a number of catagories. Oregon has a similar site for locals called the Oregon Surf Report. The Glide has some interesting posts and information, particularly if you like to follow the pro circuit. For shaping info, the Swaylocks forum is definately the place to visit.

Question : What is the best mobile phone for surfing the internet?
I'm looking to upgrade my phone and i want my new phone to be capable of surfing the internet. I've currently got a Nokia N73 and its internet surfing capabilities are not up to my requirements. any suggestions?

    Answer:
In addition to the headset, the provider's network is also important. Try providers with 3G, like ATT, Verizon etc. Also your antenna bars should high enough to better utilize phone capabilities.

Question : What is a great beginner's surfing beach close to LAX airport?
Surfing magazines make California one of the top ten surfing destinations in the world. For Christmas, I bought my husband and I a weekend trip to California, but our trip is short. What is the best surfing beach close to the LAX airport and the coolest town in the area for quaint pubs and funky restaurants?Any thoughts?

    Answer:
When I learned to surf a year ago my dad took me to San Clemente because the waves are melo. The town is unbelievable it has so much to do. Another fun town is Laguna Beach I was raised there and it is so Californiaish. There is a candy shop, stores, and you can rent bycicles. Personally, San Clemente is a better surfing spot and Laguna Beach is a Better hang out spot but they are only 10 minutes away.THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    Question : surfing????
Surfboarding?i live in a place where nobody surfboards and there are no beaches only at the lakes but they arnt really meant for surfing because there are no waves and if you were to try there people would think your nuts. lol.i love the water and the beach and i really want to try it. i'm 14 so is it the right age to start?i just started snowboarding this year. i'm ok at it. i was wondering if you surfboard?1. is it hard?2 is it easy or hard to learn3. is it fun4. is there any camps for teens or girls?5. where can you go surfing? 6. if i snowboard will surfing be easier.7 please tell me more about it!answer all my questions and i will give you BEST ANSWER

    Answer:
    1. It isn't hard under the right conditions. For your first time out, I would suggest a lesson. Ride what's called a soft top or foam board such as the ones in the first link below. You'll want to ride a long board at first. Something between 7'6" and 9' long. Anything longer than that and I think it would be too big for someone your size. 2. Surfing has a very big learning curve. At first it can be hard. You have to be in pretty good shape. You have to be able to, first of all, paddle out to where the waves are. There's no chair lift to get you out there. Then, you have to turn around, and paddle to catch the wave. Once you've caught it, you'll eventually want to stand up right away, as fast as you can. But this is hard at first, so you can try getting up on your knees, then one knee, then stand. Once you get comfortable standing up, you'll want to go "down the line" which is where you stay on the face of the wave, and ride it kinda at an angle into shore (instead of just going straight into the beach in the white wash). 3. It's TOTALLY fun! The most fun thing I've ever done. The feeling you get when you're standing on a surfboard riding a wave is indescribable. I would also compare it to flying. If you're ever surfing in super clear water, like in Hawaii, it's amazing to be gliding over the water and being able to look down and you can actually see the reef and the fish below you. It's beautiful. 4. There are plenty of camps for teens and girls to learn. I live in San Diego now, and the second link below is for a girls surf camp in San Diego. It can be intimidating out there in the water. For so long, surfing has been a male dominated sport. There are still more guys out there than there are girls, but there are more and more girls paddleing out each year. :)5. You can find surfing almost anywhere that has coastline. Surfline is a great website that lists hundreds of popular surfing spots around the world. They give you daily reports of wave and weather conditions, and some spots even have live cameras you can check out the surf with. I've put their main page as the third link below. The website can be kinda tricky to navigate at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad. I'll walk you through how to find the cams and reports. Open up the third link in a new window. You see the bar near the top that says Home, Cams & Reports, Forecasts, etc...? Scroll over "Cams & Reports" but don't click on it. Then scroll down over Southern California, then scroll across to Orange County, then finally scroll across to HB Pier, Northside and click on that. (That's where I used to live). Give it a minute and the camera will load. Also, you can see below the forecast and report for that surf spot. Have fun on Surfline and learn about all kinds of waves all over the us and the world. 6. Many people say no, snowboarding will not make surfing easier. I disagree with those people. If you can snowboard, it means you're in shape, you're active, and you have good balance. All of those things will help make surfing easier. 7. I started surfing about 8 years ago. It took me a long time to get comfortable in the water. I started out borrowing and renting long boards. Then I bought my first board. It was 7'6" and totally cute. I lived in Huntington Beach, California but would also surf in Newport Beach, CA. It takes a lot of work to "be good." If you just want to have fun out there, and get that incredible feeling of flying, you can do it in a day. If you want to really get into it and start someday shortboarding and having great style on a longboard, it takes a lot of work. I used to get twice a day. I would wake up before the sunrise, get to the beach just as the sun was coming up, then surf until I had to go to work. After work, I'd head straight to the beach again for a sunset session. Then my husband and I moved to Hawaii for 3 years where we both had fun short boarding all over the islands. We're back in California now, San Diego this time. I love it here. And I love the surfing. If you can't go surfing, I have found that wakeboarding is somewhat similar. That's what I would do in college when I wasn't near a beach. We would wakeboard. You do have to know someone with a boat and all the gear, but it's really super fun too. Whatever you do, I hope you have fun!!!p.s. The last link is a surfer surfing in the Great Lakes. So, you don't necessarily have to have ocean to surf. :)

    Question : Surfing......?
Hi, I am going to take 1-2 months off work this fall, and I want to spend the entire time surfing. I have never surfed before but I know I will love it and become instantly addicted. Does anyone know of some surf camp, or some sort of program where i could do this type of thing? I just want to shred waves.

    Answer:
Surfing is an ocean sport. before you decide to surf, decide to know and understand the ocean. Learn to be at home with its currents, rips, undertows and sometimes BIG waves. Go to a good surf shop (not a bathing suit store that sells some surfboards). The folks there can hook you up with lessons, and even rent you a board to learn on. Just work on your basics, and after you feel good, think about buying a board, but don't rush into anything. Depending on where you live, there are surf camps around. Also, you can travel to surf destinations for two or three week surfing vacations, complete with instruction. There may be some good leads in the links I attached.Be careful of what you read here on line. There are lots of really well meaning young folks who have neat answers about surfing, but at 55, I tend to classify anyone under 25 as a kid. After I found this site, I figured that I could answer a few questions, and spread the 'good news' of surfing. After you learn to swim and master the ocean, get your REAL advice from a surf shop, where industry professionals earn their rent money selling surfboards.I have been surfing for 42 wonderful years. I Good luck. Once you try surfing (and learn the 'right way') you'll have fun for life.Take the time to check out the links, especially surfingforlife.

Question : What are the pros and cons of surfing the Internet with a mobile phone?
I soon plan on getting a mobile phone with a built-in Internet browser. It will also include some of the best IM's around where I can chat with others anywhere in the world. So what are the advantages and disadvantages of surfing the web on that device?

    Answer:
...Hey, Brian....Ok, well some of the "advantages" are that: You can go online virtually anywhere; that You can check Your Emails (anytime without actually going onto the Computer); and You can usually send/respond with basic text messages..."Disadvantages" are that: You are quite limited (in most cases), to what type of Text, You use; NO Spell-Checking (in most cases); You will have difficulty going online to many sites (including most any Pen-Pal sites Etc.); & You will not be able to check "offline" messages; nor will You be able to IM (unless You pay extra for that privilege)...Hope that this has helped You...

Question : Where can i learn to surf and start surfing in Indiana?
I live in the (mostly) landlocked state of Indiana, and i REALLY want to start surfing. Does anyone know of anywhere i could learn to surf, and any good swells in Indiana?Yes, i understand that Cali and Hawaii have incredible waves, but i'm on they other side of the country. If not Indiana, how about anything on the east coast?

    Answer:
I have been in Indiana a few times, and there is NOTHING you can do about surfing there. But there are lots of good places to surf on the east coast. I started surfing in NJ 44 years ago. You can find good waves all along the east coast, they just are no where near as consistent as what you get out west, and most of the east coast just doesn't have the great climate you get in SoCal.Before you even think about surfing, there are some things you should understand. Surfing is an ocean sport, that should only be practiced by persons who are already competent ocean swimmers. Swimming in a pool is neat, but it's not ocean swimming, with undertows, rip tides and sometimes BIG waves. I have seen lots of great pool swimmers get rescued. So, my first tip on how to surf is to be at home in the ocean. There are way too many dangerous people in the water now. They are a danger to themselves and other surfers, don't join their ranks. You may already have the ocean skills, we don't know too much about you.Lessons are the best way to start. Lessons can come from a professional instructor, or surfing family members or experienced surfing friends. You have to learn surf etiquette (so the experienced surfers in the line up don't want to drown you), how to paddle and take off on a wave, and how to ride a wave. The last thing experienced surfers want is for inexperienced people to just grab a board, rush into the surf and get in our way. Lessons shorten the learning curve significantly. And they help keep ignorant, un-prepared kooks out of the water and out of the way of more experienced surfers.Even if you took several hours of elssons every day for a week, you still couldn't really learn mire than the basics. It can take months or years to really learn how to surf. But, it is great fun, and worth taking a few lessons on a vacation.
