Customer Review :
Thanks Mr. Cribb!
I rarely write reviews, but I feel this DVD deserves one...
First, I would like to say "Thanks" to Guy. Your training skills translated well in this dvd and it help me immensely. I like how you replayed over and over the same steps and the Icons and Terminology....
To anyone contemplating this DVD; Get it... It's worth the high price. It saved me a lot of time and frustration. Why?
The dvd does what I wish more dvd's would do... Save me from hitting the "=" (Pause) and "<<" (Back) buttons to see something demonstrated. This dvd does that for you so you can see Guy demonstrate how to do it right and it also shows others (Novices like me) doing the same mistakes I made... It also breaks down the different components of Jibing (sp?) into 5 steps and then goes over and over them... I watched the first section 3 times, practiced in my living room for 10 minutes, went out on the water a few days later and was able to pretty much repeat what I had seen. Beautiful! No longer frustrated wondering "What the heck happened on that one..." Just doing it right, not falling and having to up haul again!
Note: I don't know Guy Cribb. But I believe credit given where credit is due. This video is very watchable. He's a nice guy and I didn't sense any ego, just a genuine desire to help me to learn to windsurf. (Ugh um... Boardsailing still for me at this point)
So, cough up the $55 bucks. you'll be glad you did.

Body Glove shorts do what they are supposed to do !!!
These body glove shorts do the trick! I am a swim instructor and some days the pool is just a little cool to be standing there for 4 hours! This product insulates and is comfortable to wear. It fits perfectly. Would reccommend!

disproportionate waist - poor size chart
This item was exactly what I have been looking for but it falls short in the fit category. I used the size chart to select the size and though they fit, the waist on these shorts looks like they were made for a child. The hips are fine. They do not measure what the size chart said. I recommend going one size up from what the chart says unless your waist is on the low end of the chart for the size you need.

Editorial Review :
The Windsurfing Movie is poised to be windsurfing's defining film. Directed by award winning cinematographer Johnny DeCesare of Poor Boyz Productions and featuring the best riders in windsurfing history. The Windsurfing Movie conveys the beauty of Windsurfing in brilliant 16mm film. After winning both Powder and Ski Magazine's Film of the Year honors for the 2005 release of War, DeCesare has turned his lens toward the ocean. The response from the windsurfing industry has been remarkable, with Levi Siver, Jason Polakow, Kai Lenny and the king himself Robby Naish all working on the project. The Windsurfing Movie is filmed in the best locations worldwide and was released in the Spring of 2007. Poor Boyz Windsurfing filmed relentlessly for 3 years in 9 countries. The 62 minute feature was beautifully shot on 16mm film and the latest hi-def cameras from air, land, and sea. This is a story of windsurfing from the rider's perspective.

Excellent documentary
One of the best movies that covers windsurfing from the early days to the present. This is a documentary film, together with a great soundtrack and all the main characters except for Dunkerbeck, that made windsurfing the sport that it is today.

Must own for windsurfers
If you windsurf you must own this movie. Unlike most other windsurfing movies, this one features excellent cinematography and music. Awesome sailing and a pretty good story line.

Questions & Answers
Question : What is a good place to go windsurfing in Texas?
I am visiting relatives in San Antonio, Texas and want to know of any places where there is good windsurfing... where there's lots of windsurfers,.... I didn't bring my board from home so ideally a place where rentals are also available.
Answer:
Padre Island National Seashore. Take I-37 from S.A. down to Corpus, take SPID all the way across the Laguna, to the Island and keep going for 10 miles. Specifically the place to go windsurfing is locate don a part of the Seashore called BIRD ISLAND BASIN... which has a paved road leading to it. There is a surf shop there called WORLDWINDS and they have composting toilets, an RV park nearby, and a couple tables. It gets packed on the weekends, but it's an amazing site to see all the windsurfers. It's 45 bucks to rent a board all day. they're open 11-5. If the water's cold, u can rent a wet suit. It's on the laguna, which is nice cuz there's no HUGE waves to battle, but be warned it's WINDY. the whole laguna is very shallow... no more than 5 feet deep almost anywhere (except for the intracoastal waterway)have fun, let me know how it goes!

Question : Anyone know if Lake Ontario is good for windsurfing?
I've been meaning to head out to Sardinia over the summer to do a bit of windsurfing but a mate of mine lives in Canada & invited me round so: Anyone knows anything about the conditions out there? Give or take Toronto Bay area. Cheers.
Answer:
Try this, http://thewindmap.com/ good chance they will have a bit more info. Hope that helps.

Question : How do I make a beach cart/dolly for my windsurfing board and equipment?
I've got a ten foot windsurfing board, along with a mast (not sure how long it is, prob like 15 or 16 feet). I live about 4 blocks from the beach, but I don't want to drive back and forth to get all my stuff there, and it's a big hassle to walk with it. I've found some places online that sell something I could use for $200+, but I was thinking of something with PVC piping. If anybody has any experience building something like this, especially if it has a bike hookup (but not necessary), I would really appreciate it.
Answer:
I built something similiar to this: http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0oGkl1rYrNGUT4BF15XNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTExZzV1djhyBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDNgRjb2xvA3Nr MQR2dGlkAwRsA1dTMQ--/SIG=12qfb4ar7/EXP=1186247659/**http%3a//www.kayakfishingstuff.com/articles_view .asp%3fKayak_Articles=38 which I used to wheel a couple of surfboards and gear to the beach. I used some salvaged wheels off a jogger baby stroller and pcv for about $30 total. You can get some ideas on how the basic construction goes and modify it to fit your needs.I once ried to tow it with a bicycle ( had a strap going from the back of the bike to a velcro strap around the front of the carrier, but it did not work very well, was very ackward when it came to turns. )

Question : How hard is Windsurfing to learn and which windsurfing kit is the best all rounder?
Iv got a good sense of balance from Mountain Biking so can you pick up windsurfing by yourself?Which board or size bored and sail will last me a few years without needing a upgrade?Or any other tips.
Answer:
Mountain biking won't do anything for windsurfing, they're COMPLETELY differentAnyway, windsurfing was the hardest sport with the worst learning curve I've ever learned. Without someone telling you what you're doing you won't make any progress, you'll need lessons. Don't buy any gear over 5 years old, its changed too much and the older stuff is essentially worthless. For a starting board, you're going to want something that displaces at least 170 Liters, I got myself an Exocet Speed Slider Next which is a great board for learning on with a 6.0, and will remain useful for years as it can support sails as big as they get (boards/fins need to be a certain size to be effective with larger sails, for what its worth with that board I planed on a 10.8 in about 7 knots of wind). You're going to want to learn on a sail around 6 square meters in about 10 knots of wind, I would recommend a rig centered around a Sailworks Retro or something similar. And do yourself a favor and don't go cheap, if you aren't spending at least $1500 if you get serious you'll end up just spending the money eventually. Be prepared to shell out most of your disposable time and income into windsurfing if you want to get into it, there's really no "I kind of like it" gray area with this sport its all or nothing.

Question : What is the difference between a surf board and a windsurfing board?
Besides the sail obviously! And if there is no difference, are there any convertible boards (windsurfing to surfing and vice versa) on the market?
Answer:
Surfboards are thinner and lighter.Windsurfing boards are thicker and heavier. They also have cleats and bigger fins and sometimes a keel board and attachment points for the sail. They are not interchangeable.

Question : How do I get my windsurfing board from one country to another?
I live in Spain and my windsurfing board with everything(sail etc) is in Norway...Apart from driving it in a car, how can i get it to Spain? send it by transportation? what kind of transportation? More or less would this cost? Thank you :)
Answer:
It would be cheaper to hire one to where ever you go,.

Question : how to store windsurfing stuff in new york city ?
I am moving to the city and bring some windsurfing gear, I cannot afford a private garage so where do I put this stuff ?Is there something possible across the Hudson in Jersey City, maybe ?
Answer:
fcoleman,,,,,,,,Hundreds of surfboards? No exaggeration there, I'm sure. I assume when you say New York, you mean Manhattan, which is for the most part pretty crowded, but there are self storage places all over. It might be worth the drive to Staten island, which probably has the world's largest collection of self storage facilities. If you can' afford a self storage space, your in a big jam. Even if you hang your stuff from the ceiling, there aren't a lot of apartments/co ops with rooms with a ten foot straight run of ceiling (that is, for guys who can't afford a garage, we all know that there are Manhattan apartments that you could store a battleship. If you are rich enough).

Question : Is there a difference between windsurfing on a lake and windsurfing on an ocean?
I learned how to windsurf recently and i want to keep going with it on a lake near where i live. I just wanted to know if there is a difference between the two and if there is a certain type of equipment i should get for use on a lake. Thanks.
Answer:
If you learned on the ocean and are going to a lake, its just going to be easier because of the lack of waves... This makes getting in and out easier and allows you to use equipment that isn't rated for surf (make sure you pay attention to the "not rated for surf" signs on equipment, even a two foot wave can snap a mast or wreck a sail not designed for it). Anyway, since you're beginning just make sure the sail matches the windspeed (assuming you're planing, if not it doesn't really matter) and you're good.

Question : What are the seven common senses of windsurfing?
im doin gcse pe - edexcel and im specialising in windsurfing. on the specification it says i need to know the seven common senses and i was wondering if anyone knew what they are...
Answer:
I think you might find the answer in the 'RYA Youth Windsurfing Scheme Syllabus & Logbook'--as far as I can gather, the 'seven common senses' is actually a checklist of seven 'common sense' questions you should ask yourself before going out on a windsurfer, e.g. Is my gear correctly assembled? Is my gear suitable for the conditions (e.g. sail/board size)? Am I experienced enough for the conditions? etc.NB I'm not quoting here--a Google search didn't turn up the exact list. It looks like this info is only available if you do an RYA course (or at least, have access to a copy of the course manual).Hope this helps--sorry I can't give you any more info.

Question : how can I determine what windsurfing sail to get?
ALERT! I am a noob at this stuff, tell it to me in a way that I would understand, thanks.I'm looking into windsurfing lessons, and of course, getting the hang of it before I buy equipment, but I don't have the slightest clue about the differences in the sails, and prices and performance. So...what's a good reliable brand I could trust that has good quality equipment?and what kind of board should I get since I'm a beginner?
Answer:
First, do a windsurfing course. The school will provide the gear. Beginners use wide boards and small sails. After a year or two you may have two boards and three sails. A wide board and small sail for big winds and a narrow board and large sail for light winds. Be sure you learn from an expert how to rig your sail. Talk with other boarders about sails.
