$70 for 4 tiny metal clips?!
Give me a break -- WAAAAAAY too expensive... and never on sale anywhere... and hard to put together and get on your car without scratching it up.
Rating :
expensive and almost worth it..
I have had the Q-tower system for a number of years, through three different vehicles. All in all a great rack system, except for two items: The cost of the little parts that you need to convert from one vehicle to the other are stratospheric! I really don't mind Yakima making their money on the big ticket items such as towers, boxes, etc. but the little adapter items should be priced more fairly. It seems to me that once you are locked into a Yakima system they fully intend to hose you on the little things. Too bad. Further, the Yakima website is a mess to try and find the specific little items and accessories that they intend on hosing you with!

Yakima makes great products!
I bought these clips for my 2003 Chevy Venture, and they work just great for my Yakima car top carrier. Just make sure you match the make and model of your vehicle with the correct Q-Clips.

easy installation and great fit
Love the yakima system. Installation instructions are easy to follow and the clips make a solid connection to my van. I'm securely hauling kayaks and other gear.

Editorial Review :
Yakima Landing Pad 11 is essential to mount Yakima Control Towers. Landing Pad includes hardware for mounting to factory mounting points. Sold in pairs
Customer Review :
Fits well on 07 CRV
Install is bit of a slog, but that's same for any rack mount on the CRV. You have to work the nuts on and off the threaded studs on the vehicle roof to clear off the paint on them. Then after putting the landing pad on tightening the nuts is pretty stiff with the allen wrench provided. They look good though and have a nice cover for when towers/bars are not in use. Towers snap right in and are solid.

Installation trickier than expected.
The product works okay, and in theory, it is easy to install. However, you need to look at the instructions and parts carefully. There's a chart for vehicles that tells you which screw to use. They package the screws in a way that looks like there are two types, but actually, there are four. I installed one side fine. It then took me 30 minutes to figure out I had the wrong screw on the other side. Silly me, I guess, but I couldn't figure out why one side fit and the other didn't. Thought maybe I got the wrong landing pads. If you have the right parts, its a quick install.

Dented my roof
I have a BMW 3 series sedan, and for this car, I needed to buy the control towers and landing pad base(11). I followed the instructions carefully and had the rack installed, but when I removed the rack for a car wash, I realized that the roof was dented in. Apparently I had tightened the bolts too much. The landing pad was a rubber piece that compresses as the bolt is tightened, and it's difficult to tell visually when the rigid plastic control tower behind it is touching the roof. Also, the resistance of the bolt during tighting did not vary that much - the bolt kept on turning on without much effort. The estimate for repair = $2000.

Questions & Answers
Question : Hope I dont sound too crazy or stupid, needing some input on unusual home stereo system please.?
I have a Bose Lifestyle 50 system. The cool thing about these systems is that you can branch off of your main system and send the signal to other receivers or amps to run different rooms. I got the adapter cords to go from the Bose setup to any other brand of receiver as long as they take RCA jacks. I decided for one of these "rooms", I wanted to branch off to the outdoors since I spend quite a bit of time outside and would like to be able to hear it well at any spot on the farm. I got 4 pairs of Bose 251 outdoor speakers. I have a Technical Pro LZ-3000 power amplifier that's made to slide into a rack(not exactly a home stereo amp, but I think it could be).If it's ran using 2 channel output, it's rated at 8 ohms: 2x150W, or 4 ohms:2x225W. If it's bridged, it says 8 ohms:450W. Should I use a preamp? How could I wire all 8 speakers so that I would be getting the power distributed evenly and not damage anything? If you need to know any other details let me know, and I'll add more details
Answer:
Despite what Thinkenstein said, you will need a preamp for that amp, even though it has front gain (volume) controls, that amplifier does not have a built in preamplifier. It is not a home audio amplifier, it is a very low end PA amplifier. Technical Pro amps are even worse than Pyramid amps. If I was you I would return it or try selling it on eBay. The problem with Technical Pro amps is they rate them by their peak power not their true power output. The sad thing is the power rating they state on their site as being the true power is even false, The fans on these amps are also very loud, they can't handle 4 ohms long term & have thermal issues. The Technical Pro SL1200 makes a buzz without any input at all.Technical Pro amps are consumer grade amps that are disguised to look the part of & passed off as pro grade amps. I guess you can say they are made on the outside to look Technically Pro on the outside but merely consumer grade on the inside sort of like having a sports car with all looks but no go.Now I know a new QSC, Crown, or Lab Gruppen amplifier may be more than you want to spend, so I suggest you keep an eye out on eBay & Craig's List for a used QSC amplifier, a used Crown amplifier, or a used Lab Gruppen amplifier. It's better to have a used Toyota than a new Kia.I recommend looking for a used QSC RMX 850 or QSC RMX 1450.edit:Read Thinkenstein's update."Your Bose system effectively functions as a preamp.""You wont hear the fan if you are in one of the other zones.""since you already have this one it won't hurt to try it."

Question : Hidden tow hitch for "03 Mustang?
I'm an avid cyclist and my pos trunk rack isn't cutting it anymore. I love my mustang and I'd hate to have to have a roof rack system installed, but on the other hand I want a save and secure way to haul my bike around. Another alternative is to use the tow bar that is alredy on the car and use a hitch rack. I was wondering if there was any kind of adapter that would allow me to use the hitch without cutting a hole in the bumper?I woudl really like to keep the mustang, not only because I love it but because it was reacently paid off.Any ideas or suggestions would be great! Thanks!
Answer:
If you already have a reciever hitch installed but the car is interfering with the rack just get somebody to make an adapter so that it can work.Visit a welding shop in your area, take the car and the rack and show them what it is you want to do. I would bet that they would have some good suggestions, and would easily be able to fab up an adapter just the way you need it.Cost would be the steel and their time to weld it, and that depends on the business and the amount of time for what is needed, and the amount and size of steel used.
