When you need extra space on a budget...
I just bought this two weeks ago with my Amazon Prime and it actually showed up in two days! Ok, I know that's not part of a review but good info for those who use that. It came wraped in a plastic bag in a large box so it was in perfect condition when I pulled it out, comes with two keys for the latch system. A little clumsy feeling trying open it on the ground but worked ok when attached to roof of our Honda Odyssey. We just went on a road trip from Indiana to Keystone, SD. Along the way we hit rain at least 40 percent of the time, sometimes it felt like a monsoon. All we had packed in the carrier was a portable crib, a small stroller, a bag of 6 beach towels, 6 pairs of shoes, and some baby toys(enough to fill up the roof box). By the time we reached our destination I opened the box and there was a little water in the bottom of the box. I used about 3 paper towels to wipe it up after I unloaded everything. No other problems there and back(2,400 miles). I read on another review that someone used some weather stripping to seal it up better. Not a bad idea, but I was impressed without any. I wouldn't put anything of great value such as an expensive camera. It was made for ski and snow boards, so it doesn't matter if those type of things get a little damp. It was easy to install on the cross bars of my Honda Odyssey with the help of my daughter and a couple of step stools. It has a 110 pound weight limit and seems to be plenty for this sized box. I was able to position it so the tailgate opened with no obstuction and still see straight up through the moonroof. Also gas mileage didn't seem to be any worse. We averaged 25 mpg the whole trip. driving 65-75+ mph with 4 1/2 people and the back full of luggage. A good buy for the price. The bigger name brands cost way more and if you just need a little extra space, this just might do the trick. It fit my needs and budget. I'll leave a couple pictures of our van so you can see how it looks.

Perfect Roof Box!
We purchased this box for our two week car trip to Canada this summer. We just got back after driving over 2000 miles and the SportRack Aero 1300 Roof Box was perfect. There was plenty of room for our two large roller duffel bags plus some small things. We had been looking at the much more expensive Thule and Yakima, but settled for this one since it was less than half the price. The mounting brackets are not as fancy as the name brands, but it does the job just perfectly. Our average speed was 75mph and we never heard or felt any noise or vibration. This roof box met all our needs and we had no problems.

Good Product, Reasonable Price
As far as functionality, this product is fine on all fronts. It attaches sufficiently, it is easy to open and close, and it keeps your gear safe and dry. The brackets, while secure, could look a little nicer, but for the price you pay it's hard to complain. I was skeptical about spending so much less than one of the big brand names (Yakima, Thule, etc), but after receiving and using this alternative, I am glad I saved the money.

Bigger inside than it looks from the outside.
We recently celebrated the arrival of our second child, which immediately made our 2002 Honda CRV much smaller. We frequently go on trips to my wife's parents, who live about 2 and a half hours away. To fit all four people and a Labrador in our car, we had to put the dog in the back and find somewhere to put the luggage.
I've been thinking about a "torpedo" type carrier for some time now. I'm glad I found this model.
Positives: Light and relatively easy to mount on the car. The locks are made of steel and fasten in 3 points across the unit, making for a secure lock when closed. No sound while using this on the highway. I can fit my largest and second largest suitcases inside with room for another smaller bag. Looks good on our silver and black Honda CRV. Drove through rain and no water made it inside.
Negatives: Barely fits on our factory roof rack. I should really drill two new holes in the unit to make for a better fit. While the mounting system is simple and secure, it should probably have been designed for racks that are farther apart. This is nothing a 3/4" drill bit won't solve. Don't let this scare you away from this product. As you can see I still gave it 5 stars!

Item would have been great but broke on first trip
We used this item on a trip from Kentucky to Dallas and it worked great on the way to Dallas. When we loaded the carrier back up for the return trip a buckle on one of the four main straps that secures the carrier to the vehicle broke. Luckily we were paranoid about the carrier coming loose since we had never used one of these before so we had taken precautions by purchasing and utilizing heavy duty rubber straps and rope to tie it to the luggage rack. With three straps, 10 heavy duty rubber straps and rope we felt comfortable that it wouldn't fly off. I would gladly have given this product a better rating had it not broken on our first trip. The size is great, accomodates lots of stuff and is easy to use.

Good but not very rugged
I desperately need more room for a trip cross-country. The little trunk on my Honda Accord is not match for a husband, an 11 year old and a dog. I needed roof bars and so decided on these. Unfortunately the part of the plastic feet for the straps broke while I was installing the bars (3 of 4 broke). I'm not particularly powerful, so I think this is a flaw of the plastic. I jerry-rigged it to make up for this and I think it will work, but I won't be purchasing this product again.

bad product, pops right off.
BAD PRODUCT!!!, Buyer Beware. Pops right off when you close your door.
No wonder the company doesn't sell them any longer (look it up).
However there is GOOD NEWS, you can use the crossbars for a cheaper alternative to YAKIMA round crossbars.

Like a glove
I wasn't sure if this rack would work at first so I went to [...] and checked out their fit guide which said this rack would work for my vehicles factory roof rack (2007 Dodge Nitro). It took me about 20 minutes to install and has worked flawlessly for our recent trips up to Mammoth.

Works great, price is right, could be better
The item is exactly as described and works great. Fits perfectly with my Thule bars (I have the square ones). I also feel like $117 is a pretty good price for the ability to carry four boards or pairs skis. Really, the base rack and my bike carriers are were crazy expensive, so I'm thrilled to find this for cheaper.
That being said, I do feel the build quality in these is a little flimsy, even plasticky. The clamps that attach the carrier to the bars don't seem very rigid. Also, the install is really tedious--8 screws that you have to insert with a special-shaped allen wrench. That also means these aren't terribly secure. With enough ambition, someone could steel the carrier pretty easily.
Anyway, great item, all around. Despite what I just said, my boards felt safe and secure on the highway. The rack does its job and at $117 the price is/was right. I've seen these go normally for $150ish...to me that's a little too much for what you get.

An very good ski carrier for 2008 Subie STI OEM ski base
My overall impression is that for the price, functionality and ease of installation the Thule 91725 is helluva bargain! I'll probably buy another Thule product because of this purchase.
Description: Not to offend people or something by stating something that may be obvious to some, but the "Thule 91725 Flat Top" is simply the carrier portion; it doesn't include the carrier base, i.e. you should already have a carrier base installed or you'll have to get one.
The carriers themselves work just like any other carrier with locks and large release buttons. These are wide carriers. So, if you're thinking of getting a couple sets for a mid-size or compact car, it's probably not going fit side by side (e.g. one that opens to the left side and one that opens toward the right side of your vehicle) unless your roof width is wide enough to accomidate or you have extra wide base. The rubber pieces in the carriers to hold your skis/boards in place are teardrop-shaped; the wider end holding the skis or boards in place. Each of the two ski racks comes with 2 clamps and each clamp is composed of two pieces: basically two wide/obtuse-angled "V"-shapes that when joined together with unique hex-screws on each tip, form a diamond shape. The special hex-screw driver is/should be provided with the package.
Considerations: You'll probably want to account for the clearance between the roof and your ski carrier base's crossbars: assuming your bindings are already installed on your skis and/or board, if you use this carrier, and if your carrier base has only a 3" or less clearance between it and the roof of your vehicle and you place your bidings upside down then your bindings will probably hit the roof top (and probably not fit). In which case, you can always place the bindings up, ski/board base down toward the roof (with a set of skis laid side-by-side), but you won't be able to fit as many skis or snowboards.
Pros: 1. Fairly easy to install (took me about under 10 minutes including alignment): just 8 hex screws for 4 clamps (2 screws per clamp) to mess with. 2. Fairly easy to operate with big white release buttons. 3. "V" shapped clamps will fit just about any crossbar (e.g. eye-shaped, square and/or circular). 4. Comes with locks to secure skis/snowboards onto carrier and hex screws that are unique so it's not very easy to disassemble the clamps without the unique hex screw driver that's provided.
Cons: 1. May not provide enough clearance for some factory-installed base "racks", especially those that are fairly flushed to the roof. Thus, you may not be able to fit as many skis or snowboards. 2. Although the hex screws are unique (you will probably have a difficult time finding these at the local ACE Hardware or something), it is possible the hex screws can be loosened with the proper hex wrench or hex screw driver, i.e. the screws are exposed so even though you lock the carrier there's nothing covering the hex screws as an extra measure to mitigate tampering. Obviosly, if the Hex screws are removed from the carrier base, the entire carrier can be removed...along with your skis or board. 3. I'm not sure, but the teardrop-shape rubber material to keep the skis/snowboard held together in the carrier does not appear to be the type that will last for years, not that it's a big deal, but that's my assessment on it's "durability" and ability to maintain elasticity. I'll find out in 10 years.
'08-'10 Subaru Impreza's w/OEM or factory-installed ski/snowboard carrier base: I'm not sure how this will fit other vehicles, but I can certaily testify to how it fits on a Subie STi. I have a 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi and this carrier's clamps fit perfectly onto the eliptical/"eye"-shaped OEM crossbars; I believe the ski base I have is the same OEM item for all '08-'10 Subaru Impreza models (including the WRX and the STi's). So, if you have an '08 or later model Impreza with the OEM ski base, the Thule 91725 is close to perfect. Again, not to offend people or anything, but just make sure the carriers are aligned properly; on the Impreza the passenger/rear portion of the roof is a little narrower than the driver/front portion of the roof. So, if you align it based on the roof line edges, then the carriers will be offset. And when you place the snowboards/skis they'll be skewed instead of parallel to the whole vehicle (if you're concerned about wind drag noise). '08-'10 Subaru Impreza ski and snowboard carrier base OEM part number is E361SFG300 and is a lot cheaper when you order it through an Subaru OEM distributor than from a dealership.
The Impreza's OEM carrier crossbars had enough clearance so I can place a set of skis together (base-to-base) and snowboard upside-down or two snowbaords together (base-to-base) without any part of the bindings (with the exception of the dangling ankle riser on the snowboard) touching the roof top.

Easy and effective - should have bought it long ago.
This winter I finally got sick of loading my skis (downhill and crosscountry) into the cargo compartment of my MDX. After some basic research, I concluded that this Thule would fit the need. As usual with Amazon, the order was accepted, filled, and shipped quickly and efficiently - keeping me informed via email every step of the way. I am not a handyman type guy but this rack could not have been easier to install. 10 minutes in the garage and the only tool needed was a special allen type wrench that was included with the rack! We loaded two pairs of downhill skis yesterday and a single pair of cross country skis today. Both were handled easily and quickly. Although our drive to the ski area isn't long, there was no noticeable wind noise or vibration from the rack. It's easy to load and unload although with a high SUV and a short person you'll probably have to open a car door and step up on the car to reach the back of the rack. The only trepidation I had was with the enclosed documentation. There is a list of vehicles that this rack will fit and it is NOT the same as the online list. I panicked when my year of MDX was not listed after researching it thoroughly online. It did fit, just an outdated insert, I guess. To paraphrase an insurance commercial, the instructions and assembly are "so easy a caveman could do it." Very happy with the product so far.

Good Purchase
This ski/ snowboard rack works very well. We have traveled several hundred miles with it and we have been very happy with it. The only word of caution that I have is to be careful not to over tighten the mounting brackets or they may break. All and all I would recommend this for anyone who needs a ski rack.
