Editorial Review :
Tired of ineffective workouts that sound great but produce less-than-optimal results? Turn to the P90X Extreme Home Fitness system, a bundle of 12 sweat-inducing, muscle-pumping workouts designed to transform your body from regular to ripped in just 90 days. Hosted by personal trainer Tony Horton, the series of DVDs will help you get lean, bulk up, or grow stronger, with an endless variety of mix-and-match routines to keep you motivated. The secret behind the P90X system is an advanced training technique called "muscle confusion," which accelerates the fitness process by constantly introducing new moves and routines so that your body never plateaus and you never get bored. The more you confuse the muscle, the harder your body has to work to keep up. And the more variety you put into your workout, the better and faster your results will be. By breaking old routines and opening new doors, secondary and tertiary muscles are constantly being activated and developed. In addition to the 12 DVD workouts, the P90X comes with a comprehensive three-phase nutrition plan, specially designed supplement options, a detailed fitness guide packed with valuable information on how to get the most from your program, a How to Bring It DVD that provides a quick overview of the system, a calendar to track your progress, online peer support, and much more. The DVD Workouts Each of the 12 highly diverse and intense DVD workouts focuses on either a specific set of muscle groups or a unique training technique. - Workout One: Chest & Back. This superset chest-and-back-blasting workout emphasizes two classic upper-body exercises--push-ups and pull-ups--to build strength and develop shape. The combination of these two push and pull movements will help you burn loads of calories while simultaneously attacking, strengthening, and developing multiple muscle groups.
- Workout Two: Plyometrics. Get ready to go airborne. Offering more 30 explosive jumping moves, this intense cardio routine will keep you in the air most of the time. Plyometrics, also known as jump training, has been proven to dramatically improve athletic performance. If your sport involves a ring, rink, field, court, or track, this training will give you the edge. Just be prepared to "bring it" for a full hour when you leap into this workout, because there is no letting up.
- Workout Three: Shoulders & Arms. Nothing rounds out the perfect physique like a pair of well-defined arms and shoulders, and with its potent combination of pressing, curling, and fly movements, this routine will leave you feeling stronger and looking sexier. Whether you want to build muscle mass or just slim and tighten what you've already got, these targeted shoulder and arm exercises will give you the results you want.
- Workout Four: Yoga X. Yoga is a vital part of any fitness regimen, and is an absolute must for an extreme program like P90X. This routine combines strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, and breath work to enhance your physique and calm your mind. Yoga X will leave you feeling energized, invigorated, and maybe even a little enlightened.
- Workout Five: Legs & Back. Get ready to squat, lunge, and pull for a total-body workout like no other. While the main focus of this workout lies in strengthening and developing the leg muscles (quads, hamstrings, glutes, and calves), there are also a handful of great pull-up exercises to give your legs a quick breather while you work the upper body.
- Workout Six: Kenpo X. Kenpo X was created to give P90X users a high-intensity cardiovascular workout packed with lots of punching and kicking combinations to improve balance, endurance, flexibility, and coordination. During this workout you'll learn some of the most effective ways to defend yourself, while at the same time getting your body in peak condition.
- Workout Seven: X Stretch. Stretching is the one thing that will help you achieve a higher level of athleticism over a longer period of time. The X Stretch routine is an integral part of the program, as it helps prevent injuries and avoid plateaus. The extensive full-body stretches that make up this routine use disciplines from Kenpo karate, hatha yoga, and various sports to ensure that your body is fully prepared to meet all P90X challenges head-on.
- Workout Eight: Core Synergistics. Each and every exercise in the Core Synergistics workout recruits multiple muscle groups to build and support the core (lumbar spine and trunk muscles), while at the same time conditioning your body from head to toe. Loaded with a variety of fun, unique, and challenging exercises, this routine will get you moving in all directions to maximize your P90X results.
- Workout Nine: Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps. Packed with an array of moves that target both large and small muscles, this workout will do wonders for your upper body. In just one full sequence you'll get a healthy dose of presses, flys, and extensions to push you to the brink. The results will be a stronger, leaner, and highly defined upper torso that will leave you looking awesome, with or without a shirt.
- Workout 10: Back & Biceps. With a host of curls and pull-ups, this routine will make it fun to flex those powerful biceps. But don't worry, ladies--by using lighter weight, you can focus on toning and tightening these showcase arm muscles without adding the size that most guys covet. Additionally, this workout also provides some great back definition that everyone can appreciate. Regardless of your goals, you will achieve them in dramatic fashion if you dig in and max out your reps.
- Workout 11: Cardio X. This low-impact cardio routine can be used in a variety of ways to meet your P90X goals. Use it in addition to your standard P90X workload when you want to burn some extra calories, or as a substitute if your body needs a break from the program's high-impact workouts. Whatever your reason for using Cardio X, you'll find it a fun, full-throttle, fat-burning workout that will leave you feeling lean and mean.
- Workout 12: Ab Ripper X. The combination and sequence of movements in this unique workout taps into not only abdominal strength, but true core strength as well. Master these 11 highly effective exercises and you will achieve vital abdominal muscle strength to benefit your overall health and physical performance. You'll also develop that highly coveted six-pack as you take Ab Ripper X to full throttle. It's extreme work that's better than any machine in any club.

This program works
This is a home fitness program that works. It offers enough diversity in the workout routines to minimize boredom, options to modify the workouts to increase or decrease intensity, and options to turn off all but the workout cues. You'll need to commit 1-1.5 hours per day, a workout mat, resistance bands or dumb bells and a space that is at least 6 feet by 12 feet. I was not an ideal candidate for the program. I was overweight and underfit. I am nearly 50 years old with both shoulder and knee issues. It took me about 160 days to complete the 90-day program. I still choose to skip or modify some of the exercises in the program. I did not use the resources available from the manufacturer's web site and I did not write down the details of the workout to track my progress over time. I started without use of weights (using bands) and migrated to weights as I became stronger. I did not use the weight-loss portion of the program as I was already enrolled in Weight Watchers and comfortable with that program. After completing the program, I am within a few pounds of my ideal weight and I have muscle definition that I haven't had in decades. I am stronger, more flexible and have better balance.

It's a great workout, there's lots of variety and help to make sure you are working at your level and it pushes you. There are also workout sheets to help track results.

GET STARTED TODAY!
I am on day 23 AND FEEL GREAT! This is the program for anyone looking to feel strong and athletic again. Remember to be ready to start. You will need space in front of your tv, a pull-up bar and a set of dumbells. I am very impressed by this program.

Paid Full Price for a Used Product
I bought this product and the first thing I noticed when I opened it, was that it was used. Its a bad feeling when you buy something and pay full price for a used product. The whole experience of using the product is now tainted. I wouldn't recommend buying this product from this seller. Paying full price for something used is very bad.

Work toward 10,000 steps!
I have tried the inexpensive pedometers that click away the steps. I found these to be very inaccurate, plus as silly as it may sound, the clicking sound irritated me. The Omron HJ-122 is great. I walked with a friend using his GPS and my pedometer matched his distance calculator. It is silent and the functions (time of day, miles, aerobic steps, 7-day memory, calorie counter) make it more interesting.
It is a little larger and heavier than I wish, but not so much that it is a drawback. The fact that you can put it in you pocket is handy, plus the leash clip holds on tight. It would be nice if the battery compartment used a slide-and-click method as the timy screws aren't easy. At least they give you a screwdriver to fit the tiny screws...an eyeglasses repair kit also works.

Staying on Track
I love everything about this pedometer. It was easy to program and get started. I like that it tracks your steps, aerobic steps, calories burned, miles walked, etc. It's ability to reset itself every night at midnight is also very handy. A great product for a very reasonable price here on Amazon. It is keeping me on track with my daily workouts and just to wear all day to track steps, etc. Love it!!!!

Great device Very Very Very poor belt clip
It amazes me how a company could make such a wonderfully accurate and feature rich device and then give it a almost nonexistent belt clip. The clip is so flimsy it comes off at the slightest touch. This is on a device that is used to measure exercise levels and distances. When carried inside of a pocket the device was not nearly as accurate and needs to be carried in there with a certain orientation. If not for the belt clip I would have given this a 5 star rating.

out of sight pedometer
This pedometer is easy to use, very accurate, and it can sit in your waist pocket. It has many functions and its easy to use. I highly recommend it. The price is right too.

Would never buy a device via the internet!
Keep resetting itself to zero constantly, from day one, doesn't matter how much I try not to distrub it in any way possible. The worst experience with pedometers I've ever had!

Great piece of excercice equipment for the price
I have to say that I am skeptic when it comes to exercise equipment. This product has surpassed my expectations. I bought it on sale for $30 at Big 5 Sporting Goods as it was cheaper than Amazon. Putting it together took less than 6 minutes. I used a monkey wrench instead of the wrench that came in the box. It fitted perfectly on my walk in closet door. I put in some extra packing foam on the edges of the bar to prevent any door markings. I like the variety of exercises that can be done on this pull up bar. I'm 203 pounds and the bar feels sturdy enough for me. My goal is to gain more strength and loose weight. My goal is to be at 180 pounds. Of course I'm also doing 30 minutes of cardio each day on my elliptical machine. I'm also following the recommended diet that came in the Iron Gym instructions. Good luck to everybody that is looking to get in shape and loose weight! :)

Excellent Product!
This product is not cheap by any means. For it to hold a 200 and 250lb guy is pretty impressive! and it fits in ALL my door ways! As far as assembly for this product , you don't need any tools at all! It comes with everything you need to start doing pull ups right away!
Rating :
eazy to install
i bought this product from my local wal mart.it was really easy to assemble.took me about 15 minutes....just make sure you have a big enough gap on top of your door way so the bar can lock in place.i had to use my bedroom door instead of my hallway door...i weigh 165 and it held me so dont be scared....its worth the 40$....i bought it for the wide grip and still has 4 other grips to...i love it.i do pullups in between modern warfare 2 matches....LA4LIFE on the psn...for ps3
Rating :
Exactly what you need for P90X. Stop looking and order it.
Has all the grip positions you need. Fits over the doorframe and is easily removed after you're done working out. Very sturdy and easy to assemble. If you are doing P90X, this is the bar you need.
Bear in mind that this is not an alternative to a real chin-up bar. It will wiggle a bit if you swing your body so you must be careful. If you're doing switch grip pullups you can't swing and jerk too much. But that is true with any of these doorframe chin-up bars.

Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar
Great product! Anyone who is serious about working out should have this relatively cheap piece of equipment in their tool bag. Highly recommended!

warning the door attachment can be dangerous if your doors have any gaps on top the door
the door attachment is poorly made I didn't notice I had a 1/2 inch gap on my doors when i placed the door attachment on top and i had a pretty long stretch when doing pull-downs with it the door attachment wedge through door and whacked me in chest leaving a very large welt from bands and door attachment so please see that your doors dont have any gaps cause ball from door attachment is made poorly and ball will slide through gap through door and most likely inflect severe pain I was lucky that it didn't hit me on face

Husband loves it
Purchased this item for my husband, as the bands he was using kept on breaking. He uses it every day and likes it much better than the band.
Rating :
not so much
Suppose to be heavy duty, but really the resisitance is more on the "mild" side, also there are 2 pressed metal pieces that help hold the handles on and one has come loose already (after a months use)I had to take some pliers and press them back together- I didnt pay much for this and you get what you pay for- wouldnt recommend
Rating :
Exercise Band OK, but not great
This Exercise Band is OK but could be a lot better with a few simple improvements. The handles need to be a little bigger with more padding. Additionally, the door attachment ball (which holds the band to a door frame) definitely needs to be bigger. It's too small and occasionally slips through and can cause an injury. With these few simple improvements, this band would be rated 5 stars.
Rating :
really useful
I am a fitness professional and currently live in a building that has only single purpose machines. Having exercise tubes is an easy way to add possibly infinite number of exercises to your routine at a good price. I wouldn't pay more than $15 for any exercise tube, but it is a good investment.

Building Better Humans
I'm on day 36 of the workout which is the first day of month two. I have been so happy we bought this. Since I saw this on an infomercial, I was kinda expecting it to be (bluntly) cheap crap. I was just hoping for a workout to do on days that I don't run or punch the bag. I also wanted a video workout that wasn't feminine in nature with a bunch of girly moves ie. 'sashay left, sashay right.' I don't sashay.
From the time you open the package you can tell that they put a lot of effort into making this a serious workout program. The packaging and accompanying literature alone give you an indication that this isn't going to be cheap crap.
Once I started with the first DVD I was hooked. The production quality is very good. The music (which you can choose to turn off) adds to the overall effect of the intensity. I soon decided to stop every other workout I was doing and give this program the two months to see if it works as well as advertised. As of day 36, I'm pretty sure it does.
As everyone has clearly explained - THIS IS NOT EASY!! Keeping up with the pace of the workout is difficult although there really aren't that many hard exercises. You just do the exercises with enough intensity and for long enough to get results. Staying motivated to continue hasn't been nearly as hard as I thought it would be. In fact, I've been super-motivated to make time every day in order to not miss any days. So far I'm on track. The motivation comes from the fact that you can see and feel results. After only the first few days I felt like my core had been coated in steel. On days when you can't see your progress, you can usually feel progress. I feel stronger everywhere.
Another thing that keeps you motivated is the variation. There are various exercises on each workout DVD and variations of workouts throughout the program. You may repeat the same workout a few times in one month, but the order of the workouts is mixed up so it is never monotonous.
Somebody with a lot of experience and knowledge of physical fitness - presumably Shaun T - put a lot of thought into this program. I'm usually sweating by the end of the warm-ups at the beginning of each workout. After the warm-ups comes the stretching. Then you get to the exercises and finally more stretching at the end. There is a lot of intensity in the workouts but I haven't had any injuries yet. The program pushes you to your limits but the rest days and recovery workouts seem to be inserted at just the right time to make it possible for your body to continue.
I also like the format - a group of about 12-15 people, led by Shaun T, inside a gymnasium. Everyone looks very athletic but that doesn't mean they can keep up. It's inspiring to see so many apparently fit people suffering and sweating as much as you are. I like that they didn't try to hide that.
Oh yeah - I like that running clock at the bottom of the screen which tells you how long you have left in each exercise set and how long you have in the entire workout.
FYI I'm a guy. I turn 40 this year and am in pretty good shape. I'm a casual runner but ran my first marathon a few months ago. The Insanity workout is difficult regardless of what physical condition you are in or what sports you currently participate in. There are so many exercises targeting so many parts of the body - with overall emphasis on the core - that you are literally transforming your body into an overall stronger, faster, more finely tuned machine. I think I'll be a better runner after I finish this program.
Don't get frustrated if you can't keep up. This workout program wouldn't be as effective if it were easily mastered. You'll see improvements as long as you keep trying.
I'd recommend this for ANYONE who doesn't have physical impediments or injuries keeping them from completing the moves.
The Insanity workout is a roadmap to transforming your entire body into a higher performing machine.
Rating :
Awesomely hard
This DVD set is fantastic. The workouts are difficult, but they are *not* for folks who cannot perform high-impact exercise. I am most impressed with the format. Shaun T comes across as very genuine and motivates you without patronizing you. A lot of other DVD fitness instructors seem like people who are insecure because they couldn't get a date in high school, but Shaun checks his baggage at the gym door and encourages you to motivate yourself. The other people in the video are fit and attractive, but they come across as real people. No matchy-matchy outfits and 'fitness models' with implants, here. Everyone in the video is moving at their own pace, and pushing themselves. The clock at the bottom of the screen helps you keep going. This would be a great program for people who travel, since you don't need any equipment. My preschooler loves to do the videos with me. She likes to try all the running in place and jumping, so this has been a fun way for me to model healthy behaviors for her, as well.

It feels like more but that's the inches. They suggest measuring but I didn't bother. It is as hard as they say. But I feel great.

Questions & Answers
Question : Advice for optimizing my workout program for tone and fitness?
Good evening all, For the last month or so I have been working out, relatively three times a week at about an hour a trip or more. I usually do a couple of machines for everything, and run 1.5 miles. I have been using a whey protein mix, and its been working well for me. The only problem is I am getting bulk, but no real tone or definition. So, I decided to embark on my own 60 day program at the gym. I picked up some Pro Performance AMP Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 and Mega Men Extreme Athlete Vita pack after some research and price comparison. Great products to help me, but I realize I must also have an optimized diet and workout program in order to get anything out of these products. So this leads to my current plans and my question. My current workout plan is as follows:Pre-Workout(Mornings, before workout) :Basic warmups of simple exercises like push-ups, side hops, basically everything the Army has ever taught me for warming up.Workout(Shooting for 1.5 hours a day/7 days a week):Start with Cardio, a nice paced run for 1.5 miles to start and hoping to increase as the workout goes to 2.5 or possibly 3. Alternate between focusing on my legs one day(Overall legs) to the next day focusing on upper body, while spending each upper body day doing an extra set of reps on a specific muscle group(back, chest, shoulders, etc). My current plan is 15 reps x 3 with near max weight. I have been doing 25-35 reps and I was told by a friend that was too many reps at too much weight - I wasn't going to get toned. Free weights mixed with with machines.Afterworkout: Whey shake followed by simple stretches. Diet: My main focus of my diet is lean meat. Usually eggs or oatmeal at breakfast with fruit, maybe oatmeal or lean meat sandwhich for lunch with a fruit snack, and maybe a small dinner of turkey or chicken. Yes, I know it was a lot of information but I felt like in order to get good advice, I needed to provide details of what my current battle plan is. My question is, looking at my plans - what do I need to change in order to optimize my workout program?

Eat normal, but cut out processed foods if you're eating any of that. The trick to exercise is not how often or long you do it, but how well you do it and how intense it is. You could exercise twice a week and really be eager to do it and lose more weight and get better results than you would running for an hour every day of the week.

Question : Dancing instead of exercising?
Im looking for new ways to amp up my workout. Ive always loved dancing and I am interested in Flirty girl fitness. I wanted to know if the dvds were any good? Question : What would be the most suitable protein supplement for my circumstances?
I'm normally quite involved in my fitness. I have always been carrying some extra fat, but nothing dangerous or limiting. I'm male, about 5'10", 212lbs. I just turned 18 and I have always been on the larger-side of the build of my peers. I have recently gained an extra 10lbs-ish due to a 2-week period of inactive laziness. I've completely turned around, though, and am on a circuit-strength-training routine, involving core training, and exercises like jumping jacks, calisthenics, skipping and running (jogging, sprinting, hills, etc). I balance it so that on days that I am not doing my circuit training I am exercising with the said cardiovascular and anaerobic exercises. I also designate rest days to allow healing and growth. I am also stretching daily. My diet has changed, and I am eating more or less 6 small-ish meals a day, rather than 3 large ones. I am getting to bed before 10:00pm each night and I am gradually balancing my schooling with my new life of fitness. With these details out of the way, I bring myself back to the question I now have: "What would be the most suitable protein supplement for my circumstances?"For the record, I have quite a significant amount of muscle-weight. I am a very strong individual, and so I realize that I should only be focusing on cutting-fat, as the muscle is already underneath, 'waiting' to be seen. However, rather than focus on just fat-loss, I want to embrace rapid muscle growth (be it by mass or strength) to further produce results, as well as to help with my dieting. In other words, I want a protein supplement that will help me produce lean-muscle faster than I would without the help. However, I do not want to be gaining 'water-weight', which can happen quite often enough with certain supplements like creatine. I know a fair amount when it comes to metabolism, heart rates, biology (at a molecular level) and exercise science in general (kinesiology), and from what I know, I think that I need a protein supplement that will provide me with the right amino acids to centralize on muscle growth and repair, as from what I understand, those same types of peptides will be digested and contribute to me feeling more 'full', helping me adjust to my 6-small meals a day.I have looked into something called AMP Whey Protein, by GNC, and it seems pretty good, though I would love to have some other opinions. Please tell me what you would recommend, and please feel free to share some of your own experiences with different supplements and what you thought about them. Much thanks in advance!
Answer:
Protein powder is protein powder. The small differences between casein and whey and not worth the paralysis the analysis might cause. Stay away from GNC. WAYYY overpriced. Buy off the internet. trueprotein.com is greatYou have to make a decision. Cut or add lean mass. Remember, we gain muscle better at lower bodyfat ranges. If you're above 15%, I say cut.
