Damaged upon arrival!

I purchased the Zumba Fitness Total Body Transformation set. I didn't even get to try one of the DVD's because the entire Zumba box was crushed before it was put in a perfect box for shipping. I guess the box had been crushed and hot for some time because the DVD's were too warped to play.

I might try the product again, but I won't be ordering it from Amazon. How annoying!

You'd be better off shaking a can of fruit...

This thing is complete junk. Unless you're virtually incapacitated you won't get any resistance from it. It weighs literally a pound at the most. It makes a God-awful annoying noise that you never hear on the infomercial.

Unless your upper body is so atrophied that you'd have a hard time picking up a salt shaker, you're probably going to need a bit more resistance. And if you are going to waste your money on this thing, I'd suggest you pick a good pair of ear plugs too!

GOOD

I was a little worried when I first opened the package. It was really light and it felt really awkward! I messed around with it for a little while and I was not very impressed. But then I put in the dvd that comes with it. WOW! after the 6 minutes I could feel the tightness in my shoulders. I'm not all that big into body building or anything, but I do go to the gym about 3-4 times a week and I do the arm weights. This work out is a really good one for only doing it for 6 mins. It impressed me! But it is going to feel weird in your hands for the first little bit. But try the dvd before giving up on it. You may be surprised!

Shake rattle and loose

I am not sure if it is really doing a ton of good but I continue to use it along with my regular weight. I think for some of the exercises you really need to be balanced, so having something in the other hand seems better to me. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will see some results. I would recommend this product, but as I said having some thing in the other had is a plus.

Great Workout!!!!

You Can Really Feel This Working You Arms. Only Thing Is I Wish That I Could Do It Everyday, Like I'm Suppose Too.

Rating :

A quality product... But the DVD is mediocre.

First of all, I would like to address those that say you can do the same thing with household objects and dumbells. No, you really can't. The whole dynamic inertia thing may sound phony, but the movements of the weight really seem to help me more than use of dumbells; I feel a lot more muscular contraction going on which seems like a great way to build muscle and get lesser-used muscles going.

The shake weight itself gets a 5 for me, but the DVD gets a 2 or 3.

The reason I wasn't such a fan of the DVD was the fact that there was not a lot of explanation about the moves and frankly, it doesn't look like the instructor is even being consistent (During the shoulder section, she changes her arm position, then when they cut to the side view it is back where it was supposed to be.) My main gripe, however, is that I was hoping for MORE from this DVD and MORE from the makers of Shake Weight. Maybe another instructional with more advanced moves or just another video to work out to? more tips? When looking at the website, there were NO resources available. They clearly don't care what you do once you order it.

So all in all, this is a great product. I am feeling the results and my arms look a little tighter after just a week of daily use. If you are looking for a product which goes above and beyond to keep users motivated; beware. The Shake Weight is great but the makers of this product don't provide much in additions to a bare-bones dvd... Unless you want to buy a $10 timer.

Iron Gym - Good Product

Easy to assemble and put up. Works exactly like it said it would. Does everything needed for P90X. Holds my weight up well with no slipping off. The only bad thing is that it will leave a black mark on your door frame where the rubber rests. Not a big deal though and you can just paint over it. Other than that the product is as advertised and works really well for P90X.

Rating :

Great pull up bar for the money

I just got this pull up bar last week, and up to now I am completely satisfied with it. You have to assemble it yourself, but after 20 minutes or so, you can go ahead and use it for your workout. As an extra precaution, I have decided to put folded hand-towels on the sides in contact with the doorframes, as it will apply force to those areas (it is parts of the physics of being able to hold your weight against a doorframe), so no complain on that aspect, just a recommendation. I like the ability to be able to perform pull-ups in different positions (extended overhand, directly upwards, hands facing one another). Definitely glad to have made this purchase.

As seen on TV

So far it works like the commercial, except I'm slightly less cut up than the the dude on TV. It has only been four weeks, maybe I'll get more pumped. No problems with the equipment or damage to the door frame.

Rating :

Does not fit in my walls

All reviews tell us about the width of the wall, in my case the door frame works for the width range specified in the product, but the thickness of my walls is 8.5" (I live outside the US) and it won't stay put because it works for 6". Please measure your walls beafore buying.

Rating :

Fantastic pull-up solution

I've owned the Iron Gym and the Iron Gym Extreme and I have to say this blows the former out of the water. I had trouble doing wide-grip pull-ups with the normal Iron Gym because of the width of my door, but the additional grips on this model solve that problem and provide you with a bunch of new options for your upper-body workout.

Be sure to measure your door before purchasing, but most cases should be perfectly fine. This is a very sturdy piece of equipment and there's no reason to get your pull-up bar from anywhere else :) I've seen the suction/tension bars and those make me very nervous. This bar works off of some simple physics and force distribution and as long as you don't use it backwards you won't be breaking anything or falling off of your door any time soon.

Customer Review :

Awesome product, why didn't I think of this?

Most "As Seen on TV" products should only be allowed to exist in a landfill. The Iron Gym is an exception. This product is a convenient piece of equipment to do many different exercises with. It is a great substitute for permanent doorway pull-up bars.

With this being said, there are a few things worth noting. The Iron Gym WILL mark up your wall and/or door trims. I have used it at three different residences, and it left marks every time. If you are over six feet tall like I am, you will have to almost pull your knees to your chest to do a full pull up. The product really isn't to blame, but it can be annoying. You can't do dips effectively with the Iron Gym even though they advertise this feature. The foam grips tend to rotate and slide off quite easily. Also, I am not sure if it was a misprint or not but my box clearly stated that ab straps were inside. When I opened the box I found a mail in order form to buy ab straps; buzz kill.

I am still going to give this great product 5 stars. I implore you to find a more versatile piece of equipment for $20.

pretty easy to install and use - like the fact that I can take it down and put it away with no hassle what-so-ever

Works as Intended - Very Pleased

First, I'm a small guy so this bar handles my weight without flinching. A heavier person,
say above 200 lbs might notice a little flex on the bar or creaking of the door frame which
should be expected. So here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
*Good price.
*The workout bar was easily assembled.
*My doorway is about 30" and sits in a corner, and the bar
still fits with no problems.
*The bar feels sturdy.
*The padding is pretty decent.
*Allows a few different hand positions.
*Easy to remove and install (literally a few seconds)
*Fun to use (I use mine daily)

Cons:
*The plastic bar that rests above the door frame is bowed, but it
doesn't seem to affect its function.
*Doesn't come with arm straps (You have to buy them separately)
*Not stored or put away easily (mine sits propped in the corner)
*Could leave light scuffs on your door frame, possibly damage depending
on your weight and the type of door frame you have.
*Slept with it under my pillow, didn't make me "ripped" as promised.
*Attracts UFOs

Most of the cons I listed really aren't much of a problem for me. So I would
say I'm pretty happy with the product and would recommend it.

Great price for these quality weights

Received these weights today. Very nice higher quality(for the price) weight set for a beginner like myself. The case and weight arrived in great shape. Nothing was broken and I got overnight shipping with Amazon PRIME for only $3.99!! Very cool! Double boxed and everything!
The weights do have a mild smell of plastic. It does not smell like oil like others have stated but a strong factory plastic likely from the case. I let my weight set air outside for a few ours and the smell is less. The weights are more like 18 pounds a piece. The bar does not weigh 5 pounds like the description says. It was about 3 pounds when I weighed it.

Great beginner-intermediate weight set that wont break the bank. I highly recommend!

Great inexpensive set

I picked these up somewhere else locally for the same price. I have to say, I really like them. The weights are durable and look high quality.

The texture on the handle for grip is perfect.. it doesn't hurt your hand if you're not using gloves, but it's still textured enough to provide plenty of grip. It seems hard to find a good balance here with most dumbbells. They're usually either too rough and rub your hand raw, or too smooth and don't provide enough traction. There are rubber rings on both sides of the handle to secure the weights, and the screw on cap has a rubber ring glued to it.. which makes for a nice tight, rattle-free seal when screwing everything together. The only thing that could use some work is the carrying case.. I do NOT trust the thin plastic latches that hold it together when it's closed. The case seems very cheaply made, but not enough to dock a star.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the weights.

People whining about the smell.. there IS an odor to them, but you won't really notice it unless the weights are right up to your nose. If you still have a problem with the smell, just stick them outside for a couple days.. problem solved.

Item is great, packaging is not...

Whoever does the fulfillment for this product does not box the case that the weights come in. They just slap a UPS label on the case and ship. Your case will arrived dented, etc. I wanted the case to store the weights in and did not want UPS labels stuck all over it. The case is meant for this purpose but mine was dented from shipping and the 2 blue plastic latches were busted off as well. The actual product is great for the price but the case will arrived damaged because the company selling these cannot afford to put the item in a shipping box! Not the fault of UPS...their packages travel via conveyor belts and are handled when loaded...You were warned...

Question : What are some strength training exercises I can do without equipment?
I know, I know... yet another diet/fitness question but I don't have any weights or equipment for working out! I've just been running/walking a lot lately, but I still need to incorporate strength training in order to burn more fat by strengthening my muscles! :P Any suggestions? Thanks!

Answer:
You need to do some interval training. This is where you do some intense exercises for30 minutes a day for 5 days a week to a month or 2. You have to eat 5 actual MEALS a day and keep them healthy. Drink lots of water, and never starve yourself. Rock On! Look up interval training on the internet.

Question : Strength train without equipment?
I am very weak, and I plan to begin a basic strength training programme. The problem is, I don't have any gym equipment, other than two 3lb weights, and I can't afford to join a gym. Any suggestions? This is what I currently plan to do, however I know this by no means trains my whole body.Abs: The Lolo Jones ab workout - http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-263-266-13030-0,00.htmlI am going to start the '100 push-ups challenge' - http://hundredpushups.com/ . At present I can barely do one pushup! For arms, would doing curls, etc with my 3lb weights be in any way effective. I have heard a million times that for most effective strength building, you should do high weight, low rep workouts, but I don't have any heavier weights! For the lower body, what exercises are most effective? I am planning to do squats and lunges, what else? When it comes to cardio, I already do tons of that - I am a runner! Please help me!

Answer:
Yeah...you can do a lot...without equipment...you can use your own body to resist and tone. It will be harder though if you are trying to build mass. Use 1 arm and push it down on another to resist. If you are trying to tone, then you will want to do reps followed by breaks, and more reps. If you are trying to just become stronger, then doing more may help. But there is no avoiding some good equipment if you want a full workout. Anything with weight can be used for strength training.Working out is half the struggle for gaining strength, you will also need to get more protein. Get some protein into you after an intense routine.YOGA believe it or not is always a great strength training workout. Just keep researching bud, I just listed very few things you could do.

Question : Best strength training program with limited equipment?
I have a bench press, barbell and 100 pounds of weight. Oh and a pretty big tire. I train in MMA, so I really want a program strictly focusing on strength. Does anyone have a program they recommend?

Answer:
Unfortunately 100 pounds isn't going to get you far with strength training =/When I visit my parents, my dad only has about 100lb's of weight at his gym, so I fill bags full of bricks and slide them onto the bench, you can add a significant amount of weight that way.For the bench and barbell, the 3 best strength exercises are called 'the three big lifts'. They are:Bench PressSquatsDeadliftsOther goodies:Barbell rowsOverhead pressOverhead extensionA tire is great for MMA, google some MMA specific tire workouts, like:Tire flippingSledgehammer training

Question : I'm looking for a good selection of cardio and strength training exercises I can do at home with no equipment
I live in an extremely polluted city in China and therefore need to exercise indoors. Int he past I've always trained as a distance runner, but running outdoors here is just not that wise due to pollution and traffic concerns, so I would like to develop a fitness routine I can do indoors when I can't make it to the gym. I would ideally like to combine strength training and cardio and use no or minimal equipment. Also since I'm not running much anymore I'd prefer to build some bulk rather than stay lean like I usually am. Tall order I know but any routine suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

Question : Can anyone make some suggestions for a total body strength training regime?
Hello, All,OK, here's some quick background to my question. I'm a 44-year-old guy, currently on my way down from a high weight last November of 302 pounds. I'm currently down to 240, and hoping to settle between 175 and 195. I eat well, about 2200 calories a day, and my fat intake is down.My problem is that I had been exercising at a gym, doing weights and cardio, 5 times a week. Then, about a month ago, we lost a vehicle, which means that I can't schlep my 3 kidlets to the gym with me now, and I'm constrained to working out at home. I have a Schwinn Bowflex Comp that I bought about 3 years ago, used for about a month, and then started using as a spare coat rack in my garage :-). 3 weeks ago I started using it again, doing the basic "better body" workout (I glad I saved my workout journal, as the manual for the Bowflex is long gone). And, I'm really enjoying it.But I'm feeling that, in a week or so I'm going to want to up the intensity, maybe go from 3 days a week to a split routine. Maybe 2 days of upper body, 2 days of lower body, or 2 days of "push" and 2 days of "pull". I'm honestly not quite sure the best way to design it, which is why I'm writing this monster post. Here's what I have available:Cardio Equipment:1) Jumprope2) Upright Air Bicycle (the $99 version, actually does a good job of getting the heart going)3) Reclining stationary Cycle.4) Power Rider (another coat rack in the garage, I don't use it much)Strength Training Equipment:1) Schwinn Bowflex Comp (basic bowflex) with 220 pounds of bands.2) Hex head dumbells from 2.5 to 20 lbs.3) Basic Bench.4) Curl bar with about 110 lbs of plates.5) A door mounted pull up bar. Haven't tried it yet, at 240 I think I'm still a bit to heavy to be doing pull ups :-).I know a lot about basic fitness, but not about designing programs. So would you recommend downloading the manual for the Bowflex and simply sticking with the intermediate workout in it? How about combining the Bowflex and the dumbells/free weights? Should I do some cardio before or after the resistance training, or maybe combine the 2? Should I ditch the Bowflex for now and concentrate on free weights.I'm really open to a ton of suggestions. My only real limits are 1) I want to take it slowly, don't want to try to do too much too soon and hurt myself; and 2) I want to keep it to about an hour a day max, 4-5 days per week. I do have 3 kidlets to keep track of and spend time with :-).I appreciate any suggestions you may make, any websites or articles that you may suggest. Thank you in advance for reading this, and your comments!Peace

Answer:
I did this and didn't win anything but felt great.

Question : What is the best strength training equipment to get if you want nice muscles?
The reason I need to know the best strength training equipment is, I want to gain muscle as fast as I can. I am going on a trip this summer to Hawaii and I want to look as good as I can

Answer:
I like your nickname Salad Fan, I love salads too. I understand you wanting to find and buy a big, bulky and expensive piece of strength training equipment, but you really don't need to do that. In fact, you will most likely get much better and faster results if you don't buy a machine at all.I have been working out for years, and I use only body weight exercises. I do use an apparatus a few times per week that helps me do the exercises at a higher level, but you don't need anything at all to start seeing great results. When you use your own body weight as resistance, you will get a really great balanced look. When you use a machine, or heavy weights, you can end up looking a bit unbalanced and too pumped in some areas while looking too thin in others. That isn't what you want.I am going to show you how to get started but it is important that you talk to your doctor first to make sure it is OK with him or her that you start an exercise program. If you have done that, then you are all set. This will be a four week program, meaning that after four weeks, you will want to substitute new exercises for these. You will workout 3 days per week alternating between the “Workout 1”, “Workout 2” and then “Workout 3”. So for instance, on Monday you will do 1, 2, and then 3. Then on Wednesday, do 2, 3, then 1 and so on. Here are the workouts:Workout 1:Lying Hip Extension (3 sets and 8 reps each)Plank (3 sets 15 seconds each)Prisoner Squat (3 sets 12 reps)Bird Dog (3x5)Kneeling Push-up (3x8)Side Plank (3x5 sec per side)Ab curl-up (3x15)Workout 2:Push-ups (3x15)Inverted Row (3x8)1 Leg Squat (3x8) each sideBicycle Crunch (3x30)Bulgarian Split Squat (3x8)Elevated Push-up (3x8)Reaching Lunge (3x8)Mountain Climbers (3x12)Workout 3:1 Leg Dead-lift (3x8) each sideChin-Up (3x6)Step-ups (3x12)Slow Push-ups (3x10)Prisoner Lunge (3x8)Close-grip Push-ups (3x10)Plank (3x24 seconds)These will get you started and seeing results. Don’t quit and keep at it. If you don’t understand how to do any of the exercises, you can visit my site listed below and look through the resources on my there. You can also ask me questions there if you need some clarification. Good luck!

Question : What are the best strength training exercises you can do without any gym equipment?
What are the best strength training exercises you can do without any gym equipment?

Answer:
Squats, sit ups, push ups, jumping jacks and leg raises, sitting back on your bum and putting the bottoms of your feet together and rocking from side to side. Lean against a wall when you do your squats for stability. These are exercises my 36 year old daughter does 3 times a week at an exercise boot camp. I only exercise if someone leaves chocolate on the floor.
