Able to accommodate over 100 body shaping exercises, features body weight resistance and additional bands to add up to 50 lbs of resistance

Great for the money
I have a gym set up in my garage, and I get a great workout in there, using only two pieces of equipment: the Tower 200 and the Weider Total Body Works 5000. This is an excellent piece of equipment. I've been able to work so many body parts on it, and it's very easy to switch to different exercises to mix it up. The three things that I enjoy most about this machine (and the things that I never saw on the Total Gym)) are the foot plate, which allows you to do some great leg work, the four additional weight bands, so you can add more weight without having to adjust the machine, and the pull up bar at the top.
If you are looking for an all in one gym, this is one machine that will do everything! Get it while it's still cheap; the price went up since I've bought it, so hopefully it won't go up again.

Heavy, solid construction, countless excercises
This thing weighed a ton, had to be dropped off by 2 man UPS team. Solidly built, great bang for the buck. Don't hesitate. Unless you live in a really small apartment or don't have the space to really let this thing stretch its legs because it is big. There are countless excercises you can create forget about the chart it comes with. There are four resistance bands as well, that actually do a good job.

Good Product
Great product but can be a little noisy around the pulleys, but a little DW-40 took care of it. Would recommend for anyone thats looking for an easy to use home gym and get great results...well worth the money!!!

Amazing home gym
Good Day all
I never known these systems exists until seen one at sporting goods, it was total gym priced at $400, I fell in love with it using it for couple minutes in the show room, therefore I searched online for something similar with cheaper price tags and found Weider Total gym.
I received Weider 5000 couple days ago, it took me 30 minutes to put together, only few 4 screws. I was very impressed with quality and stability of the product. I thought for that price i would get something cheap. Weirder 5000 is very nice well built product even better that the once priced $400 and above. I used to go to the gym 6 days a week then due to kids and school and work visiting the gym twice a week is great for me. Weider gave me complete home gym and complete work out for both losing weight and building in addition getting ripped.
I'm 5'10" 210Lb, and this machine fit me very well. I believe after using treadmills for an hour a day then using Weider you will be able to lose weight and gain muscles add to that get your shoulders and back ripped.
if you need to add more resistance you can use the resistance cord provided with it which adds 50lb more resistance. also you can purchase ankle and vest weight to increase your weight for more resistance in case you are trying to focus on becoming bigger.
the machine wont replace the gym %100, but if you are busy and don't have the luxury of free time to go to the gum 6 days a week, this machine will do a good job.
The machine is way bigger than the picture of the product is showing. like other reviewers below said, it is almost 9' to 12' tall when extended it all the way.
Amazon gave me free two day shipping after 5 to 9 days free big saver shipping going to take more than 16 days for me to receive the product ( after making purchase on 20th of July, shipment said i should get it on 28th of July, two days later check package tracking and it showed the shipment still not shipped and I should get it by August 9th, called Amazon great customer service and moved it to two days free shipping, I received my product July 24th early morning.)
The product comes with big poster with more than 50 training positions.
Last but not Least. MAKE SURE TO FASTEN THE ALL THE SCREWS EVEN THE ONCE THAT ALREADY THERE SOME THEM ARE VERY LOSE.

Spare Parts too expensive
Iconfitness who owns the Weider brand charges an arm and leg for spare parts. Building this unit with spare parts will cost over $3300. The backrest is $188. The Foot Plate is $242. The two small wheels that will wear out are $51 each. Two big wheels that will wear out are $60 each. The 90mm pulley which will wear out is $53. The four bungee cords are $45 each. The list goes on and on.
The Total Body Works Gym 5000 is pretty solid and gives a good workout. The major concern is if I use this machine for serious exercising as soon as a part wears out I'll have to buy a new machine to replace it. If I can find a similar part that I can jury rig from Home Depot or a hardware store then a repair can be in the $5 to $20 range but most parts are very unique and can only be purchased from Iconfitness.
Knowing what I know now about the cost of spare parts I should have bought weights and a weight bench. That type of exercise equipment can last a lifetime or be re-purchased from many local department stores for very little money.

good addition to "mix up" my workouts
I am using the trx to "mix-up" my workouts. It is very humbling! If you do the exercises listed in the book and/or dvd that it comes with, especially the lunges/leg exercises, they are very difficult. It is also great for working on stability and balance. It also has GREAT core exercises. The only issue I have with the TRX, and this might be misuse by my part, is the exercises that you have to hook your feet in the loops. I recommend the trx and am happy with my purchase. The best deal around is through amazon.

TRX is genius in a strap
As someone who relied on running to stay fit for many years, my body began to break down on me. I researched options to maintain and improve my fitness levels without running and found the TRX.
I have used this product exclusively for well over one year and look forward to the challenges it presents my body each and every workout. As a working professional and father of two, creating the time and making it convenient to my every day lifestyle is essential. TRX makes it easy and I make time for it. I have created my own outside gym in my garage and rain or shine, I am out there. When I travel for work or on family vacations, the TRX goes along every time. All you need is commitment, 30 - 60 minutes 3 - 5 days/week and you will be set. The training DVDs and corresponding booklets are essential to have. Once you get the routine down, you can modify it to really drive the results you are looking for. Training is in my DNA and TRX has enabled me to get the body I have been looking for for years.
You gotta work at it tho. Conceptually, it's unlike any form or training I have done so it takes a little time to get your head around it.
Thanks to TRX for enabling the workout machine in me and for many more years of quality fitness that translates into a more energetic Dad and husband.
If want better fitness, stop shopping and buy TRX.
Don't pay attention to the negative reviews, this is the only one you need to read.

My favorite fitness equipment, ever.
Yes, it's incredibly effective at working the whole body in a very functional way, engaging several muscle groups at once across all planes of motion. The results are dramatic and fast. Results you can see and feel. But the thing that really sets the TRX apart for me is the fun factor. If I don't truly enjoy a workout, I won't stick with it for the long haul, no matter how amazing the results. The variety of movements possible on the TRX is incredible; I add new ones to my routine all the time, which makes it easy to mix things up. Each exercise challenges me in new ways, and each one is fun. In truth, even if I didn't see such dramatic long term results, I would use the TRX just for the sheer joy of it.

Most versatile piece of workout equipment
I have been working with TRX for the last year at the gym and just recently purchased my own for home use. TRX is one of the most versatile pieces of workout equipment you can own. There are dozens of exercises you can do to work out virtually all parts of your body. You can vary the difficulty simply by moving your body in a different position. TRX is totally portable and can be used just about anywhere, especially using the over-the-door anchor. I also highly recommend the X-mount for ceiling use. The ceiling mount allows free movement in any direction and is VERY sturdy and inconspicuous. Give TRX a try...you won't be sorry!

$189 for some straps and handles?
Okay, it seems very well made, but its just straps and handles! I'm glad I got it and like using it. I'd recommend it but when you realize that you paid all that for just...okay, I won't say it again!
The carrying bag it comes with is a little too small to conveniently get the TRX into. It can be done, but it wouldn't have hurt to make it a little bigger.

Best FAKE REVIEWS ever! My TRX Gives me super powers!
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1O94SGIVRPSOD The product is so good that the company had to flood Amazon with it's own fake reviews... Check out the reviews... Most of them aren't genuine, of course the customers only bought the TRX and nothing else, no other reviews and so many 5/5... So fake, what a shady company, if they can't be honest then they can't be trusted. Compare the reviews to your average retail product. It's usually never this good. TRX is just the next useless fad that you don't need, $200 for nylon cords?!? Most of these exercises can be preformed next to stairs or on the ground for free.

Not like my other one's
I currently own 13 TRX systems and wanted a couple more for outdoor BOOT CAMP classes. The price was lower than the other ones I bought so I decided to buy the product. The TRX I bought did look the same however it was manufactured poorly. I could not fluidly adjust the straps and the handles did not have the same padding as the ones I bought. This TRX system was either the very first one they ever made or this company knows how to make a great looking knock off. Buyer beware; go to the TRX website to purchase your system!

Just try it...
My brother in law built his own in his garage with two straps and rings and put me through a workout that straight up kills, it was one of the best workouts iv ever had. The only downside is that he was restricted to his garage where he built it. I have used resistance bands, done push ups, everything people say on here that can recreate workouts like this, if you think that recreates suspension training you are a retard. I wont deny that its pricey for nylon straps, and you could easily make something like it yourself, but you risk building something that hasn't been tested and can fail on you. Why do that when you can just spend 180 on this that can be set up anywhere you go, stop paying 35bucks a month for a gym full of tools and god knows what disease they left on the equipment before you. This could easily pay for itself within six months. Im a firefighter and travel between different stations every 3rd day, the convienence of packing this thing up and using whenever cant be beat. If your one of these guys on here thats all about " Ohh you have to isolate your muscle, its nothing that free weights, push ups cant do blah blah" than continue going to your gym, and sticking needles in yourself. If training for bodybuilding and posing like a tool in a thong is what your trying to achieve than sure, dont by this. But for overall performance and conditioning your body needs way more than isolating one big muscle because in sports its about every muscle not just the ones that most people concentrate on (pecs, biceps, etc.), they have to be used in a variety of motions. And suspension training provides that, its so much more dynamic that what youll find at the gym. If you dont think so after you try it then return it, simple as that.

TRX will kick your a-- or just tone you up.
I been part of sports programs and a gym member for 50 years and this is the best fitness "machine" I have ever used. SUPER portable, you can carry it in a purse, briefcase or backpack. Travelers can use TRX outside, in hotel rooms, on boats and in RVs. It's simple to set up (less than a minute) and easy to use. Great DVD workouts for it. You won't get a better workout in 45 minutes. If you can find a gym or workout studio that uses these sign up it's a great group workout.

Really delivers what it promises
I can stake my life on this machine and that it works and it WILL give you results. Ok, that was an extreme statement but whatever the commercial says, this machine lives up to that and so much more. The DVD workout is simply amazing. Best part is that it's quick and it will grow with you as you progress.
For those who go to the gym, seriously guys this machine will replace your gym. You can raise the resistance level to 100lbs. per arm and the way the workout is done is dynamic so you WILL see amazing (not subtle) results. The workout itself has cardio in it and the exercises are challenging.
It is really well made. I honestly cannot see how any of the bands would snap or this would break. It's a solidly constructed piece of equipment when placed on a sturdy door, delivers.

What I was expecting
I got exactly what I was expecting from this item, aside from one thing which I will detail later. I made sure to read the reviews beforehand, especially about the need for a thicker door to properly fit the tower 200 on, so I knew there would be some fiddling around with spacers (or in my case, folded pieces of cardboard). The item works exactly as described, comes with a workout handbook with "200" different workouts (mentioned in another review to have lots of doubles, and variations in stance counted as individual workouts), an 11 minute workout guide, and the DVD. The DVD is an excellent addition, as the pictures will not always show what the form of the movement should be.
Now for the unexpected part. The 25lb cables were fine, but the 40 and 35 lb cables had one defective cable each. The defective 35 lb cable was of less resistance than the 25 lb cable, and the defective 40 lb cable felt around the same as the working 35 lb cable. Now for the reason I still gave them 5 stars. I emailed customer service inquiring about this problem and they told me they would ship out new cables to me at no cost, and that I wasn't required to send in the old, defective ones or fill out any paperwork. No questions asked. Customer service doesn't get any better than this.

I Love My Body by Jake Tower 200!
I love my Tower 200, I have owned it for 6 weeks now. I use it as a part of my Power 90 strength and resistance routine, in addition to my adjustable dumbbell set and my 15 & 20 lb kettle bell. I especially love the 11 minute routine, which after I use, I follow up with a few compound and isolation moves.
It has a sturdy design, it is well manufactured, I have yet to experience any of the issue, that I am seeing posted on numerous websites and it holding up to my 6 feet 5 inch 260lb frame. I also have the extra hand/ankle grips, the straight bar and the 2 pairs of 40 lbs power cords.
The results that I am seeing since owning it are drastic compared to using other resistance bands I own. Maybe it is mental, but my gains are starting to turn heads, it keeps me coming back for more. I will use it in the a.m. and in the p.m.

Great total body workout!
As a personal trainer, I travel to many homes and businesses to train my clients. It is important to have equipment that is multi-functional, durable, lightweight and most importantly effective. This piece of equipment most certainly achieves all of these criteria. I have searched for quite some time for a device such as this and I am absolutely ecstatic to have finally found it!
The Tower 200 is capable of providing an effective total body workout. The cable-like system is excellent at working the muscles in a manner that cannot be achieved by other types of strength training equipment, such as hand-held weights. As long as you maintain tension on the band, your muscles will be engaged throughout the entire exercise, thus, not allowing for "rest" as the muscle naturally shifts to enable a full range of motion. In contrast, free weights have a broken chain of movement as you go through the exercise, which prevents working the group of muscles to their fullest capacity.
Additionally, the price on this piece is excellent, especially considering what you are getting. It even comes with a great booklet of exercises that are effective for the novice to the advanced exerciser. In detail, it describes the exercise from start to finish, along with color photos.
I really like that it not only comes with stirrup handles that clip to the high and low pulley, but also the ankle straps so that you can work your quads, hamstrings and glutes. The band stretches far enough to accommodate any type of leg exercise that you choose.
The Tower 200 is also a great way to work your core muscles. The number of exercises you can do on this thing are seemingly endless! I just love it! It would be nice if there were a middle handle, but it's really minor in relation to all the great exercises that you can do even without it.
The fact that it's portable and easy to stow away make this my very favorite piece of equipment that I own - and I own A LOT of pieces. I highly recommend this product. It is well worth the money!
Rating :
Great Product!!
I have had the Tower 200 for about a month now, using it approx. 3-4 times a week and see a huge improvement in overall strength and muscle tone. I would agree with other posts, in that the number of overall exercises you can do is a little exaggerated. My guess is they came up with 200 to match the maximum total resistance number of 200 as well as the name of the product, the Tower 200. Nevertheless, I have only been following the 11 minute workout exercises for the most part and if you're not sweating and need a breather by step 8 or 9 then you're not using the product properly or are in better shape than anyone I know.
Tip 1: If the 25 lb. band is too light for you on a particular exercise, but the 35 lb. band is a bit too much, try stepping a little further from the doorway for that particular exercise. As with any banded system, the resistance increases the more you stretch it. This is something I really like about this type of product because bands effectively give you multiple resistances on the same cord, depending on your stance and distance from the door.
Tip 2: Don't shortcut the exercises in the 11 minute workout. They are designed to work multiple muscle groups at once and give you the best workout in the shortest amount of time. For example, the lunge to decline press works not only the chest, but the shoulders, legs and abs at the same time. Not following through with the entire motion of each exercise is not going to give you the results you want, as like I said before, most of the resistance is encountered at the end of the motion. I am getting the same or better results with this product than with my $3000 Bowflex Revolution, and for a small fraction of the price. $200 is not a lot of money to shell out for a product of this caliber. It looks like you should be able to buy something like this for well under $200, but like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. This is a well designed and solidly constructed system and look forward to the next 3 or 4 months to see what it can really do for me.

Great tool for on-the-go workouts
As an avid gym-rat who gets a little twitchy when he misses a workout, I was looking for something I could use to get a good strength training workout while traveling on vacation or for work. The personal trainers at our gym introduced me to the TRX system and I ordered one to give it a try.
In the few short weeks I've owned it, I have been able to take the TRX Home Training Bundle on a camping trip, on a business trip, and to work with me for a 2-day IT system crash event.
While camping I was able to use trees and the rafters in a pavilion to support the TRX system, and found both made easy platforms for great workouts. At hotels and while trapped at work for two days, I was able to use the door mount to sneak in some workouts, and I found that platform to be stable as well.
So it seems to me you can almost always find a place to mount the TRX system, as long as you exercise a little common sense about doing so safely. And once it's mounted securely, the TRX system is quite versatile, and allowed me to perform many exercises to get a completely taxing strength workout. The system is simple to use and well-marked for making quick changes between exercises. For the configurations that are less intuitive, the included book provides good illustrations, tips, and tricks.
The only reason I withheld a 5th star on this review is because of the way the TRX system is constructed. The materials and workmanship seem solid to me. But the product is finished in such a way that very little of the system is modular. That is to say, if you were ever to wear out a pad on one of the handles, replacing it would require a lot of craftsmanship, not just a simple swap-out. So I expect that needing to replace any component on the TRX system would likely be met with having to replace the whole kit and kaboodle. I think a modular design would allow me to be more aggressive with the unit while making me comfortable I could replace parts fairly inexpensively. ('Cause let's face it, nearly $200 for nylon and ingenuity is pushing it anyway).
Rating :
Great Product, Great Workout
I've had the TRX for a few days and have done the 'Basic workout' multiple times now. The unit is easy to setup and made very well. I like the door mount, but have an X Mount as well which is much more practical. I would say my only complaint is the lack of video trainings that come with the unit. Although the 'Basic workout' is great, that's it... It's almost $200 for these nylon straps. I think they could have included a few more workout videos.
Rating :
TRX Straps work!
These straps are clearly made to last. The accompanying beginning video is easy to follow. I've done probably ten workouts and they've tested my stamina. Great piece of home (or anywhere) equipment.
Rating :
Cool Gadget. Making workout fun again!
This gadget it really well built. There is not a plastic connector in sight. Feel free to put all your weight into it.
I highly recommend getting a chin-up bar to hook this up. The door anchor gives limited movement. There is a ceiling anchor but I think you should make sure it installs in a stud. Some of you more muscular guys would probably rip it right out of the ceiling otherwise. Go for the chin-up bar.
All these exercises can be done without a TRX, but the TRX makes it more fun. In some cases it will improve your form. Plus, for the most part, you are working on your core muscles as well.
If you haven't received the message yet - this system is just a lot of fun!

Questions & Answers
Question : Question about benefits of spinning?
My gym membership is expiring soon and I'm considering purchasing a spinning bike for my home. I typically follow a mini-tri training schedule for my workouts. I really enjoy the bike training training (low impact) portion. But if I'm going to be cutting out the ability to use the strength training equipment, I want to know if the spinning routines will maintain an overall body toneness (is that a word?)My other concern is I have very "stout" legs. I do not want to really build muscle - don't need to - what I'd like to do is lean out my legs instead. My thighs could use some "fat trimming" that I just can't seem to work out enough to get rid of (mostly inner thighs). So is this a wise purchse for me? Or should I just buy an elliptical/treadmill?ThanksThis is the bike I'm considering.http://www.spinning.com/store/store.asp?nProductID=10730&lngRootID=-1&navigationid=4793
Answer:
Spinning is basically a form of cardio like any other riding on an exercise bike...as you likely know already. The big difference is you do most of your work on the bike standing up. So if you're really getting a "spinning" bike as opposed to an upright exercise bike, make sure it has enough weight in the bottom that you *can* work out hard and safely *standing up in the pedals*.In terms of muscle tone, as long as you're in the right position, think of the Lance Armstrong position--standing in the pedals, hunched over the bike, upper body supported on the handlebars--you should be okay, since that position will work out your abs and arms at least in the same way pushups and situps do, by supporting your body weight. In terms of your legs....yes, you'll trim fat, but you may want to consider going longer, at a more moderate pace, because short, intense workouts will build more muscle and make your thighs bigger. And you do want to stretch your quads after each workout. Your legs likely won't be flabby, but they won't get any less "stout" in terms of muscle either, sorry. But still, I'd say it's a good idea. If this is the kind of workout you like and will stick to, by all means *keep up* the good work! ^_^ I envy you your motivation and opportunity here. Now, let me scare up a link for you....be right back....

Question : I'm looking for a good selection of cardio and strength training exercises I can do at home with no equipment
I live in an extremely polluted city in China and therefore need to exercise indoors. In the past I've always trained as a distance runner, but running outdoors here is just not that wise due to pollution and traffic concerns, so I would like to develop a fitness routine I can do indoors when I can't make it to the gym. I would ideally like to combine strength training and cardio and use no or minimal equipment. Also since I'm not running much anymore I'd prefer to build some bulk rather than stay lean like I usually am. Tall order I know but any routine suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Cheers
Answer:
Cardio exercises without equipment that you can do indoor:1. Jumping rope (jsut need a jump rope)2. Swimming, in an indoor pool, that is3. Cardio kickboxing (after you've attended the class at the gym; can do this at home)4. Stair climbing5. Running/jogging in place in your room6. Cardio dancingChoose one you love and like, do 3-4 times per week, for at least 30 mins per session. For strength training, you can just use dumbbells to train all your major muscle groups, 3-4 times pwer week, for 20 mins per session. No dumbbells? You still can train without it. Books, filled cans, filled water bottles, your own body weight......Find out how to train with no equipment here: http://www.perfect-body-toning.com/strength-training-without-weight.html

Question : Working Out At Home??? Help Please!!?
I have been weight training for the past 6 months and have been happy with my results, however im really bummed because i wont be able to make it to the gym for about a week. I plan on doing some workouts at home for my arms and stuff (i have 8 & 10lb dumbells, a stability ball and some other equipment--any at-home workouts would be appreciated!). Will skipping the gym for a week hurt my progress or set me back? I heard it is sometimes good to take a week off so the muscles can recover, is this true? Is it possible to get a good strength training workout at home? Thanks for your time
Answer:
sorry i'm no pro but i have been looking up the same sort of thing as you and from what i've read and been told it really won't hurt if it's just one week. muscle cells grow during rest anyway not while you're actually working so it's not all bad and what's more there really is a wide variety of exercises you can do at home with just a pair of dumbbells.look up some on google there are millions of helpfull websites and hope it all goes well :]tom

I live in an extremely polluted city in China and therefore need to exercise indoors. Int he past I've always trained as a distance runner, but running outdoors here is just not that wise due to pollution and traffic concerns, so I would like to develop a fitness routine I can do indoors when I can't make it to the gym. I would ideally like to combine strength training and cardio and use no or minimal equipment. Also since I'm not running much anymore I'd prefer to build some bulk rather than stay lean like I usually am. Tall order I know but any routine suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

Question : what is a good workout fitness routine? Nutrition Plan?
I am looking for a good workout routine that combines cardio/strength training and a healthy diet that I can stick to for a healthy lifestyle but I don't know where to start. can anyone help me create a fitness plan, nutrition plan or any good websites for free that can help me do this for me. I would like this fitness plan to be something I can do at home without going to the gym or buying expensive equipment. Any good information anyone has will be greatly appreciated thanks.
Answer:
I'm glad you said "Healthy lifestyle" rather than "Diet." That is the major point so many people miss. There are many body-weight resistance exercises you can do from home. To get a cardio/strength combo, I would recommend creating three circuits of three exercises each. Do each exercise with 10-15 reps. Try to finish the workout under 1 hour. Increase your work load as necessary. (It should take you appx. 45min to 1hr, if you are fininshing faster, increase your work load.)Do the entire circuit a minimum of 3 times a week and be sure to vary the exercises as you body will adapt to the training routine. Example:Do each set of (3) exercises three times through before moving on to the next set.push upsbench dipsshoulder press with dumb bells (db)crunchesreverse crunchesrussian twists (oblique rotations with feet off ground) step-ups body weight squatsdonkey kick backs (for glutes and hamstrings)Do some walking, jogging or cycling on the off days. Additionally, you'll want to reduce the amount of refined and processed carbohydrates in your diet. You can get all the carbs you need from starchy vegetables. You should be eating 60 gms of protein / day minimally and more if you are consistently working out. Supplement suggestions: ~whey protein (to achieve daily protein intake), ~omega-3s (help boost HDL), ~vitamin C ( skin, immune system, binds free radicals and more),~chromium/lecithin (fat metabolism), ~zinc (good for skin and more),~and a good B complex (you all of the B vitamins- they function together, taking one or two will be hindered by a limiting B vitamin ) If you are going to be working out at home, I would recommend at least investing in some 10lb. db to start, an 8 lb medicine ball, and some resistance bands. These are very inexpensive and you can do a lot with this. If you are stronger, buy heavier db. Start reading various sources of literature and you can absolutely do this on your own:www.nutri-facts.comwww.bodybuilding.comI am the owner of GO RED, Inc. Question : Does anyone know any in-home/no equipment strength training exercises?
I've been running a lot, but I'm also supposed to do strength training exercises. I can't go to the gym (there's none in my town), and I can't buy any equipment. Are there any exercises you can do that don't require equipment or that you can use stuff you already have at home to help build/tone muscle? Thanks to anyone with helpful suggestions!
Answer:
try pilatis, you can go online to get some tips or you can get videos too, it uses your own body weight as your 'weights' and if you do the right moves you can really work up a sweat too. Its a fun and easy way to build some lean muscle, and the best news is that you dont have to leave the floor while excersing, haha. best of luck! hope that helps you!

Question : I need a good strength training workout at home?
I do cardio 6 hours a week on my treadmill, but I am not loosing an ounce. I am counting calories and supposedly burning over 1000 calories a day. But nothing is happening so I figure I better start some weights, I cant make it to the gym as my son will NOT stay in the day care. what can I do at home without a lot of equipment?heres what I have5 pound weightsbig blue ballthat stretchy band thingwii fit (but I find theres too much down time between excersizes)
Answer:
Well as far as the weights go here is what I would do. Go buy a 15 or 20 pound set of dumbells (or heavy enough you can curl somewhat easy) and I would look up exercises for areas you maybe wanna tone more. I like to do a "burnout" workout so I will do curls about as many as I can do then without any down time do 50 sit ups and 25 push ups and I'll do that about 5 times. Then I move to military press and do the same and so on and so forth. You'll get tone and your body will be burning calories trying to repair the muscle. Hope this helps

Question : I need some help on weight loss and strength training....?
I currently do Zumba once a week and do strength training/cardio at the gym once a week as well with a personal training. All of this is rather costly AND I would like to add more exercise sessions each week, but with two children and being a single parent, I have little to no time for myself. I was thinking of getting some small equipment (ie. hand weights, etc.) and some DVDs for motivation and trying to do some stuff at home in the mornings before the kids wake up. Any suggestions on what I should buy or use? Please remember that I live in a duplex, so too much jumping around and my poor neighbor might freak out! :) Thanking you in advance!
Answer:
Small weights are an excellent idea. You might, instead, want to buy a complete workout set; a bench press with a barbell, a curl bar, and dumbells with enough weights and collars to make it all work out (play on words intended). Another idea you may want to try is to get wrist and ankle weights to wear around the house. You can exercise while you do the dishes, make the beds, and walk around. You can use these same weights when you go shopping. You can even do curls with them on when you change dhiapers and play with the kids. You must remember to eat healthy too. I hope all this works for you.Paul

Question : how to lose 2 dress sizes in one month? PLZ! Help!?
I am looking for a workout routine that i could do at home not at the gym and one that doesn't require a lot of equipment only dumbells for strenght training. how much cardio should i do how many days and how much strength training should i do and how many days to lose up to 2 dress sizes in one month it doesn't matter how hard it is as long as it's effective. i want to look good for summer. any answers will be appreciated. thanks. :)
Answer:
Hi. One way that I know of is to use Teresa Tapp's program. www.t-tapp.com. It's tough to get through the boot camp, but worth it, you can do it at home. Do this every day, and add walks/cardio if desired, she claims 2 dress sizes in 4 weeks. But it depends on your issues and where you're starting. Depending on what kind of diet is best for you (whether to lean toward protein or veggie/carbs), eat nothing but REAL food, no hydro-fats, no refined, no sugar, no hfcs, no processed foods, no pop diet or otherwise. Lots of veggies, green drinks, lean meats, fruits (if tolerated or sugar is not an issue). You can also use body wraps or the new muscle building technologies (Arasys/CACI) if needed/desired, if u can $$. Best of luck!

Question : Can anyone make some suggestions for a total body strength training regime?
Hello, All,OK, here's some quick background to my question. I'm a 44-year-old guy, currently on my way down from a high weight last November of 302 pounds. I'm currently down to 240, and hoping to settle between 175 and 195. I eat well, about 2200 calories a day, and my fat intake is down.My problem is that I had been exercising at a gym, doing weights and cardio, 5 times a week. Then, about a month ago, we lost a vehicle, which means that I can't schlep my 3 kidlets to the gym with me now, and I'm constrained to working out at home. I have a Schwinn Bowflex Comp that I bought about 3 years ago, used for about a month, and then started using as a spare coat rack in my garage :-). 3 weeks ago I started using it again, doing the basic "better body" workout (I glad I saved my workout journal, as the manual for the Bowflex is long gone). And, I'm really enjoying it.But I'm feeling that, in a week or so I'm going to want to up the intensity, maybe go from 3 days a week to a split routine. Maybe 2 days of upper body, 2 days of lower body, or 2 days of "push" and 2 days of "pull". I'm honestly not quite sure the best way to design it, which is why I'm writing this monster post. Here's what I have available:Cardio Equipment:1) Jumprope2) Upright Air Bicycle (the $99 version, actually does a good job of getting the heart going)3) Reclining stationary Cycle.4) Power Rider (another coat rack in the garage, I don't use it much)Strength Training Equipment:1) Schwinn Bowflex Comp (basic bowflex) with 220 pounds of bands.2) Hex head dumbells from 2.5 to 20 lbs.3) Basic Bench.4) Curl bar with about 110 lbs of plates.5) A door mounted pull up bar. Haven't tried it yet, at 240 I think I'm still a bit to heavy to be doing pull ups :-).I know a lot about basic fitness, but not about designing programs. So would you recommend downloading the manual for the Bowflex and simply sticking with the intermediate workout in it? How about combining the Bowflex and the dumbells/free weights? Should I do some cardio before or after the resistance training, or maybe combine the 2? Should I ditch the Bowflex for now and concentrate on free weights.I'm really open to a ton of suggestions. My only real limits are 1) I want to take it slowly, don't want to try to do too much too soon and hurt myself; and 2) I want to keep it to about an hour a day max, 4-5 days per week. I do have 3 kidlets to keep track of and spend time with :-).I appreciate any suggestions you may make, any websites or articles that you may suggest. Thank you in advance for reading this, and your comments!Peace
Answer:
I did this and didn't win anything but felt great.
