Not worth the money

This product is a joke - its not worth the money asked for - the DVD in the box did not contain enough and barely required the ball to do the exercises - I actually thought that I was purchasing a pilates squishy ball not a hard unweighted ball. I do not recommend the purchase of this product.

Rating :

just OK.

The ball is much smaller than I thought it would be. The DVD is so fast paced that by the time you arrive in the positions the instructor is already out of them. The abrupt ending to the program is absolutely terrible... It is an OK work out, but I do not like the DVD.

Wonderful additoin to my at-home workouts!

I love this thing. I'm still learning about all the new ways to incorporate it into my at home pilates workouts- tons of info on poses and stretches online. After reading the reviews of many similar products (that said they were questionable quality and deflated quickkly) I'm glad I spent a few extra bucks on this ball. It's a quality brand and a great product. Thanks!

Excellent DVD

This DVD is excellent but if you are a beginner in the pilates work buy another one before this, but it is awesome!

Disappointment

Although I am looking forward to utilizing this ball, the DVD was a BIG disappointment. Most of the exercises are contraindicated for anyone with degenerative disc disease in the cervicals and/or the lumbars and vertebral stenosis.

Stott Pilates Flex-Bands Gift Pack (Blue and Green) Stott Pilates Flex-Bands Gift Pack (Blue and Green)
Price : $14.99 $12.99
Features :
  1. Flexible band bundle with 2 exercise bands
  2. Helps stretch, strengthen, and streamline muscles
  3. Adds upper and lower body resistance to mat work
  4. Simulates many of the moves on Pilates reformer
  5. Includes 1 regular-strength and 1 extra-strength band

Average Customer Rating :

Customer Review :

These flex bands (Stott Pilates) do NOT provide enough resistance.

Even the blue one, which is supposed to be an extra strength band, doesn't provide that much resistance. It sort of works if you grasp it far from the end (essentially to shorten the band), but I wish it were stronger. When I watch youtube videos of Pilates exercises, the bands they use seem to be much stronger because people are holding them near the ends. And there I was holding it almost a quarter of the way down each end.

I guess this is why you don't buy the cheapest product out there. There's a reason why it's cheap.

Great Bands

I've been looking for bands over 5 feet long and when I saw these, I snatched them up! I'm doing Cathe Friedrich's STS program and they work perfectly! I haven't tried the dvd yet, but the bands themselves are great exercise tools.

Rating :

Great pilates bands

The bands are a great quality and have lasted through some tough workouts, even my children playing with them, and not always so nicely....

Rating :

good

i think it was a little over priced but everything came in time and well packaged

Rating :

great stretch bands

I wasn't sure what kind of resistance I wanted in a stretch band so I bought this pack. both stretch bands are great. Glad I bought both. Some workouts I like to use the easier resistance and others I like to bump it up with a stronger resistance.

They do have a latex-y smell, but they are made out of latex! :)

I have never used other resistance bands before so I can't compare this to others. But for someone who is just starting to use resistance bands these are great to help figure out how much resistance you want.

tough workout

I got this to diversify my home workouts with a resistance cord. I also want to strengthen my legs. I went online to figure out some poses and it hasn't disappointed. Construction seems good I've had it a few months. It definitely kicked up the intensity of my sessions.

My mom loves it!

I bought this for her to work with and she has been raving about it ever since. She has been using it to increase muscle tone in her inner thighs, and has happily added it to her arsenal of pilates tools.

exercise circle

I ordered this circle to replace a cheaper version that lasted about a year. This one is much higher quality and I use it about every other day for a condensed pilates workout. Using this circle enabled me to take only the exercises that I need and tailor a workout that targets and tones without wasting time. I am able to use this circle for arms, core muscles, butt, and legs. It is an easy, no-nonsense way to tone the whole body. Great buy!

Excellent!

I like this Pilates Ring however if you plan to use it very often I feel as though the resistance will give earlier.

I really like this product. I have a personal Pilates instructor and she said it was of very good quality and even better than the one she uses. I was surprised at the work out you get from such a simple product.

Good resistance, good length

This is a good quality exercise band with the right resistance for my arms. If you are a man or very strong woman you might want to get the extra strength one. I got it to go with an exercise dvd, but it comes with instructions for different exercises you can do with it too. I had one of those bands with handles before, and this one is easier to use and better quality, the resistance doesn't seem to wear out like the other one did. A good product!

Nice but a too flexible

it is a good band but it is too flexible, i should have bought the strong (heavy) instead...

Rating :

Great for Cathe workouts!

I ordered this band about four months ago to use with my Cathe F. workouts. On average, I'd say I use it about 2-3 times a week, and so far it's been great! It has the perfect amount of resistance, and it is nice and long so that you can do all of Cathe's exercises with it. It also has held up perfectly, and hasn't lost any of its resistance so far. Great product!

exercise band

I love it. It was longer than the ones you get at walmart. just the right size.

Great workout gadget!

Getting a little bored with your workout? Tired of the same old thing? If so, you need to try the Multitoner Pilates Ring. It offers a great alternative to a boring workout. The Multitoner Pilates Ring comes with its own carry bag and a ring-bound board book of instructional cards.

The Multitoner is convenient, and very portable. Take it to the office for a quick upper body workout during your breaks. Set it by the TV to workout while watching your favorite show. Take it to the gym, on business trips, or on vacation-it is small enough to fit easily into your suitcase. It is like a tiny resistance gym in a convenient carry bag. And, as an added bonus, you have the option to choose from two different resistance levels depending on which side you choose to use.

The Multitoner is fast and fun, and produces results when used consistently. I'd never used a pilates ring before, and found that I really enjoyed using the Multitoner Pilates Ring for quick workouts.

Overall, the Miltitoner Pilates Ring is a handy workout gadget that will help you switch up your workout and get the toning effects that you want.

Not as firm as I hoped it would be

Product arrived quickly and the instructional cards and carrying case are great. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be as firm as the ring I use at the gym. I would say it is great for upper body but just ok for lower body workouts.

Questions & Answers
Question : is pilates a good choice of exercise?
I am a 19year old. I used to play football but don't play much anymore i want to start something new and i am thinking pilates. As although i go gym i am finding it has become boring and i am not as motivated. I want to improve my figure and fitness is it a good option?

Answer:
Pilate's is very good for core strength and toning but not for cardiovascular. I would jog or swim as well.

Question : Exercise/fitness routines before and during pregnancy?
So Im in OK shape, I could pick up and run a mile or maybe more if I wanted to. I have an awful time sticking to a routine and typically do FIRM workouts (they are cardio and weights mixed). Well lately I have been doing two mornings of cardio while my daughter is at preschool and trying to squeeze in some more days such as taking her for walks and maybe one FIRM workout totaling 4 days a week. Im trying to stay away form the FIRM workouts since they are somewhat intense and there is a lot of twisting, reaching and abs. I love doing pilates, so is this something good to do while TTC or even possibly in early pregnancy (took a test and it was negative but I think it was too soon). I know I shouldn't increase intensity right now. Once I find out I am, I plan on keeping up with my 2 cardio mornings and ordering Denise Austin's Fit and Firm pregnancy and 10 minutes prenatal pilates. What was your routine before and during pregnancy?

Answer:
BEFORE:I would use my ellptical machine for 30-45 minutes each day. Followed by light workout for my arms using hand weights. Then ballet like exercises for my leg muscles. Depending on how much time I had during my daughters nap or how tired I was, I would do between 50-100 crunches plus various other ab workouts. I would do this 4-5 times a week.NOW:I do some prenatal yoga exercises and stretches. I "try" to get on my elliptical machine for at least 15-20 minutes too. Sometimes I just skip it because I find myself so exhausted from regular housework and taking care of my 2 kids. But this week my son starts school again and it is my goal to get back on track! The stretches and yoga moves really help me sleep and make me alot less restless at night. They work wonders if I do them about 1/2 - 1 hour before bedtime. Im 15w 3d pregnant with #3

Question : Is there an alternative to Pilates with the same results?
Hello. I'm trying to find a good cardio workout that provides the same benefits of Pilates...but isn't actually Pilates. In my body shaping class at school, we did Pilates so much that I wanted to kill Joseph Pilates (and the person who thought of Windsor Pilates as well). Is there anything I can do besides Pilates (and yoga) that focuses on building core muscles? I'm trying to lose weight and I already committ to at least 45 minutes of exercise daily (running or biking). I just need this for more fitness and getting toned for personal reasons.

Answer:
Plyometrics is a good workout, its pretty much "explosive training" say you take a medicine ball, find a brick wall, and throw it against it as hard as you can like a chest pass with a basketball. thatll work your core muscles pretty good. theres a whole bunch of exercises like that, just gotta look them up

Question : exercise/fitness.. burning calories?
So im a 16 year old girl, i'm 5'2", and i wear about 99-102 pounds.i do competitive horseback riding (high level dressage, and second level jumping), i try and do a 10-20 minutes pilates/yoga session a day. i work at a vet hospital about 3x per week & i walk 30 mins to and from school each day, plus walking around between classes.is that a good amount of exercise?

Question : what fitness programs can help me to be skinnier&have a good body shape?
i saw some fitness programs like low impact aerobics, step, pilates, tai chi, cardio kick boxing in the community centre and i dont know what are they. i know nothing about fitness.i am 15 now, if i wanna be taller, skinnier, what kind of fitness exercise should i do??

Answer:
It all depends on what you define as good body shape. First, let's talk about taller. That's genetics and nothing you do will help you get any taller than you're predisposed to be. The best predictor for height (for a woman) is to take your father's height and subtract five inches, then average your parent's heights together. I'll put an example at the end. Now, let's get to the better body shape. Anything you described will help you lose weight and look better. If you'd like to target specific areas of the body, the gym would be ideal. If you'd like to improve cardio you could add running, soccer or even tennis to your reportoire. The best thing to do is to vary your routine. You need to give your muscles a rest, so you shouldn't run every day... BUT you can run one day and work your abs or upper body the next (if you'd like to workout on a daily basis). By strengthening your muscles you begin to give yourself a more defined body which creates a good body shape.Good luck!Example of height predictor... I'm 5'4'' and my husband is 5'10''. Let's say we have a daughter. You take his height and subtract five inches, which makes it 5'5''. Then you take my height (5'4'') and average it with 5'5", making my daughter's geneticly predicted height 5' 4.5''. Obviously this isn't perfect, but it is the best predictor based on shared genetics we have. I think the statistics state there is a 68% chance you will be within 2 inches of this height and 95% that you'll be within 4 inches.

Question : Would you do pilates before or during an attempt to lose weight?
I am wanting to lose weight, but I do not feel that I am at a fitness level to be able to do pilates. My question is: would you lose the weight first and then do pilates to tone, or should I do exercises/diet to lose weight along with pilates? I am just afraid of being "too fat" to do pilates.

Answer:
I would do both. Pilates is great for toning and is great exercises. Starting before you loose the weight will help you build muscle which will aide your weight loss. I would also defiantly continue doing pilates after you loose the weight.

Question : Summer Time for The Skinny !!!?
Hey everyone. I decided starting Tuesday May 2oth,to : go to the gym everyday. do pilates or fitness exercises in my house for 30 mins a day, eat greens, ( i will not be eating meat this summer) and other healthy things, drinking my green tea and enviga. Do you guys think I will look good by September 1, If I do this every day? I hope to lose 30 or even more pounds... I really need to know. Thanks everyone

Answer:
Cutting out meat isn't nessicarey unless you are wanting to be a vegitarian. Some meat, such as Turkey and Chicken, as long as you don't eat the skin, virtually have no fat, if that's what you're worried about. Fish, specifically the omega-3 found in them are healthy as well and usually very low in bad fats. Not to mention, meat is a very good source of protein. So, I wouldn't cut out meat completely. Other than that, you should be able lose 30 pounds in 1 month, maybe 2 , surely by 3 if you stick with the plan.

Question : OH crap crap crap out of shape indoor tennis soon details inside HELP?
okay so i have indoor tennis starting in a few days im skinny and all but im kinda out of shape from the soda and chocolate ive been having does anyone know any fitness exercises that can help faster than others? im not completely stupid i know from first hand experience that time, patience, and consistency helps beyond imagination when it comes to exercises but does anyone know any that show somewhat immediate improvement? plyometrics? pilates? anything? thanks in advance

Answer:
Darin, unfortunately you're stuck. The body simply won't adapt and recover fast enough for you to do anything about your conditioning in so little time. Now that being said, there's no better time to get back on track than the present! And in the game of tennis, the FIRST place you need to start when you have little time is conditioning. Forgo the weights and pilates for a little while and concentrate on upping your ability to extend points and run for long periods.Your ability to not get tired after a layoff is the single most important thing you can do to keep you in a game. If you're breathless and cramping because of your cardio-respiratory, it won't matter how good your strokes are.If you're pressed for time, take a page out of a boxer's workout. Jump rope! I cannot remember the stat but in a health journal, it was determined that 10 minutes of jumping rope was the equivilent to running approximately (X) number of miles. Again, I can't remember the exact stat but I DO rememer that the time invested was considerably less jumping rope than running.Secondly, swim! This will work muscles you didn't even know you had and will also strengthen your heart as well has increase flexibility.Good luck and just try to stay in the points! Remember, the secret to winning in tennis is to hit one more shot in than the other guy.Keep your eye on the ball!

Question : Have you been visited by random fitness trainer?
There is a fitness trainer that is supposed to be a little off in the head and shows up at random people's houses extremely early on Saturday mornings making a fuss about getting out of bed and jogging / exercising / doing pilates / working out / doing yoga.Have you been visited by the random fitness trainer and how did you get rid of him?

Answer:
Haha no, that's funny.( =

Question : Is the Pilates "hundred" exercise effective?
Anyone heard any positives about this particular exercise?I did it last night as part of my Pilates fitness routine & core workout and am usually a bit sore afterward but today, did not wake up sore for some reason. :/Hope I did it right...maybe I am just getting used to the workout routine that I have been doing lately...lol

Answer:
i have done these with my aerobics class and one-on-one with my clients. i think that when i initially show them the exercise, they think it's gong to be easy and ineffective. however, when done correctly, it is actually pretty difficult and when you do enough of them (usually 50-100 reps in a row), you will be sore the next day. so, yes, the are very effective. they work mostly your upper abs. (ab exercises in which you raise your legs or knees works the lower abs).to do them correctly, just make sure you are not bringing your chin into your chest; keep your head raised so that you are looking at the horizon and also keep your chest stuck out and your shoulders back (so that you are not rounding out your back).hope this helps!
