Questions & Answers
Question : If I walk for a long distance (about 6km) can I use running shoes? or boots?
Hi I want to start walking to school / work but Im curious will running shoes support my feet good enough? what if I just wear my boots? I'm only walking.I dont want to cause injuries to my feet because I also run alot, too. But this question isnt for running, it's for walking.for clarification im asking if I should use my boots ($30 walmart boots lol) or my running shoes to walk for 6km. Which would be better for my feet.

Answer:
If you are going to walk regularly in all kinds of weather, especially if its in the countryside, you should invest in some boots. Trainers will only give a limited amount of support and protection.

Question : Is it okay for the arch support on my new running shoes to hurt my foot?
I bought these new cross-trainer shoes and i noticed they that had more of an arch support than what Im used to so i hurts my foot. I was running in flat support shoes before and had no problem with them. Should I allow my foot to get used to it or return them to get a lower arch support.

Answer:
That depends. Try to get used to it, if it still hurts, return it.answer mine?http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AqJ48d7SGsbNPTLuAA9407jsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=2009101809 0102AAFQBow

Question : Do running shoes provide the best support all around?
In my job, I'm pretty much "running around" and I want something that will ease tension and fatigue on my legs and feet. Overall, do running shoes provide adequate support? I've tried Dansko's, but I don't find them very comfortable. I like something that sits snug on my foot without having to drag it along.

Answer:
A running shoe can be a very good option for being on your feet all day. A cross-trainer can be a good choice too. The Spenco insole is another way to pamper your feet a bit.My personal recommendation is one of Nike's full-length Air sole shoes. They also make a cushion system called shox, but that is more for serious athletes. I have a pair and they can be stiff for me when I am teaching and coaching on my feet all day. They do a great job for jogging or playing basketball for me though.Try shoes on and be very meticulous about the fit and feel. If needed, go to a place that knows how to fit shoes carefully.

Question : what type of running shoes would be good for someone flat footed?
I've tried asics they are pretty good new balance i like those. But i don't have really alot of money to buy insoles for this.what type of running shoes will give my flat feet the most support??.

Answer:
If you can't afford orthopedics, try getting just Spenco brand arch supports. They don't cost too much and they work well... either the full sole or the 3/4th length sole works.

Question : Knee problem when running. Could I have one flat foot?
I started running again after about a year and right away my right knee started hurting. I noticed, when my right foot hits the ground, it feels like it presses down and angles inward, toward my arch. I think this is what's causing the knee pain. Does this mean I'm flat footed on one foot? If so, do you think a good fix for this could be just a Dr. Shols arch support in my right shoe?

Question : What is a good supportive, firm running shoe to wear after breaking a foot?
I recently broke my foot, and am in an air cast. I am told that in a few weeks i can wear running shoes (for short periods of time) if they are very firm, have lots of support, and control motion. I have high arches, narrow feet and my newest running shoes are eight years old. i have no idea what to get. Somebody please make a suggestion.?

Answer:
I used to be a New Balance fan for several yearsuntil I discovered ASICS - they are the best! Notmuch advertised, but for those who have triedthem there's no other choice! By the way, thename of the shoe comes from the Latin phrase:"Anima Sana In Corpore Sano", which means:"A sound mind in a sound body".

Question : Which of these two types of running shoes would be better for my foot type?
I am a cross country & track runner (so i run long distances)the arches of my feet are REALLY low (my feet are pretty flat) & my low arches also cause my feet to turn inward when i run, which, in turn, gives me shin splints.so, i know i need a motion control shoe. i went to one sports store, where i was told that good shoes for me would be Asics Gel Nimbus VIII. THen, i went to another store where i was told that the best shoes for me would be Asics GT-2120.The Asics GT-2120 have a piece of dark grey material near where the arch is (the rest of the sole is white), which, the guy in the store told me, means that the material in the arch is stronger than the rest of the sole, so it will prevent my foot from turning inward. he said unless a shoe has that grey piece near the arch, it will not be good for my foot type/running style. The Asics Gel Nimbus VIII do not have this grey patch, however i was told at the other store that they would provide arch supportboth these models of shoes FEEL comfortable, but i also want a shoe that will be good for my foot over a long period of time and that will prevent sports injuriesso, which of the two shoes should i choose?it would REALLY help if someone who is an expert at shoes could answer this question (any answers are welcome though!)Thank you !!!!!!!!!!! =]by the way, both shoes are Asics, i'm just not sure WHICH MODEL of Asics to choose:Asics Gel Nimbus VIIIorAsics GT-2120????help! please!!both the shoes felt good when i ran around in them inside the store........but.......will they both give me good arch support & prevent my feet from turning inwards on a long run??

Answer:
The Nimbus is a motion control shoe (see link #1), but the GT-2120 is a stability shoe (see link #2). I'm not sure why anyone would recommend the GT-2120 for someone with low arches.. The GT-2120 is a great shoe -- just not for you.The "dark gray material" is probably the "Space Trusstic System", which is supposed to provide arch support, but it is found on both shoes. It just may look differently on the Nimbus or perhaps it is a different color. I cannot recall exactly what it looks like, but I am 100% certain that it is there.Between the two, you should definitely go with the Nimbus. You should also keep in mind that the Nimbus is made for someone with a larger frame, which is why it is a little heavier (for extra support). If you want a lighter shoe, you should look at the Cumulus (also motion control), which is nearly identical except that it has less cushion because it is made for someone with a small to medium frame.Good luck finding your perfect shoes~!

Question : Do arch supports in tennis shoes adjust?
I have recently bought a pair of Tiger running shoes and the arch support in one (the left foot) is extremely uncomfortable, it is not supporting my arch and is under the ball of my left foot. The right foot is better but still a little uncomfortable. I ordered these from the store because the store didn't have my size. Will the supports adjust and if you know how long this will take could you please tell me?

Answer:
Your best bet is just to visit a shoe cobbler and ask them to adjust the supports for you. Cobblers can pretty much do anything you want them to do with shoes.Hope this helps!

Question : Running with a low arched foot?
I'm a sprinter for track...My feet started hurting when I sprint so I went to the trainers and they said that I have a very low arch in my feet, and since I'm on my toes a lot because of sprinting, they're gonna hurt. Before I can run again, I had to ice my feet and get arch support things...Well, I iced my feet for 3 days but they barely feel better. They were supposed to be better by today but they're not so now I can't run till wednesday, but I doubt they'll be better by then either, so I'll probably have to wait even longer. The area around my ankle is also starting to hurt but I don't know why...Are arch supports expensive and will they help?I really hate missing practices but my feet hurt so bad when I run. I ignored them and still ran cause I thought they would eventually get better, but now my feet hurt when I walk too. What can I do to make them stop hurting? I want to be able to run as soon as possible.I have asics gel 1130 shoes. I had older shoes before and I thought the shoes caused them but its my low arched foot. How bad is it having a low arch...?

Answer:
It does suck a lot to have flat feet and sprint; especially since we're on our toes a lot. I find that I can only do 2 or 3 200m dashes at practice on my toes and then I have to run a little flat footed because my arches and ankles are so weak.My suggestion; buy arch supports to wear. I don't wear any to practice because they either slide around or they're too firm. Don't keep the same pair of shoes for practice too long. The sole wears out and eventually you lose the shock absorption and with flat feet we need cushion. I had my mom buy these insoles from barefootscience.com. They're great; they're supposed to help strengthen your arch muscles and give you support and I love em. I always wear them if I'm in flat shoes like Vans or Sperry's.If you like to wear flip flops, get some with some arch in them like Rainbows (I recommend double stack) but even with the double stack I personally can't wear them for a full week because my feet and ankles will start hurting, but they help and I get to wear flip flops (I really like flip flops) so it's all good. Also maybe you could wrap your arches with ace bandages. There are exercises you could do to strengthen your ankles and arches (but I'm too lazy to do em) so look those up. People who do ballet recommend them so look into that. And maybe you need to find shoes with arch support in them for practice; if you go to a sporting goods store they should be able to help you out. : )

Question : Insoles to support running with flat feet (available in India)?
I'm completed flat footed and experience a pain in the shins & knees after 3-4 days of regular running. I use my Nike BRS 1000 (dual density) shoes while running, which I feel do not offer adequate support. Can I supplement them with some sort of insoles to help me while running? Are there any athletic insoles to support running with flat feet available in India? How much will they cost?

Answer:
dr.scholl have got a nice range of insoles ...one of them is a arch support...it comes with 3 gel pads ,soft medium and hard...u can use it according to your requirement.costs around rs1000...u can get it at any bata showroom.the knee problem should not be overlooked.it can be due to flat foot becoz loss of arches of the foot shift the axis of weight bearing of the leg ,so more u exert the more ur knees suffer abnormal forces and hence the pain.so i will suggest that u add a few more exercises to ur fitness regimen b4 starting any rigorous running sessions for weight loss/fitness..exercisesquadriceps and hamstrings ie front and back thigh respectively.that will increase the support to ur knees to save it from trauma.u can always call me,if u want any further assistance
