Great Beginner Balls

Great for beginners. As someone who just started golfing late last year, I cannot tell any difference between these balls that cost 50 cents per ball to high end balls, which cost $4. And since not too many golfers use this brand name, it's hard to mistake someone else's balls for yours.

Ooooo I'm a believer

I purchased these to have an inexpensive ball to take to the park or my back yard and use for chipping/pitching practice. I expected rocks or worse at this price point. I am more than pleasantly surprised. I am about a 10 handicap, and while I normally play much more expensive balls, I would not hesitate to recommend these for anyone that isn't a scratch golfer. Durability for me, contrary to one other reviewers experience, is normal. In regards to feel, apparently the days of cheap balls feeling like you were swinging at lead is gone because these are surprisingly soft. Granted not on the level of a V1x, B330 etc but considering the price difference of .47 per ball vs. approx 3.35 and up per ball for the others, this becomes an attractive option.

The one knock I could come up with, and this is nitpicking, is the packaging. In an effort to keep costs down, they have cut superfluous packaging by putting the 36 balls in a three tier box with cardboard between each tier. I would pay a little extra if the balls were packaged in individual sleeves in the same attractive packaging. This is FAR from a deal breaker for me however. I find that the value here is incredible. I would recommend that you take the savings you get here and play more golf. Your improved swing will impress much more than playing and losing a four dollar ball.

Great balls for a beginner

These balls are perfect because I lose at least one every 3-4 holes and I always have a fresh one in hand. They are inexpensive so I don't waste my time getting frustrated looking for my presumably lost ball. I can spend all my time being frustrated at my golf swing instead.

Rating :

good enough for this beginner

i am just starting out with this ever so frustrating sport. i picked up these balls, as they were inexpensive, so i would not feel bad about losing them. well i have lost quite a few, and nope, i dont feel bad about it. my game is improving, and i will probably try out some new balls at some point, but these have been great so far

If you shoot over 90 for 18, these are for you!

If you are a casual hacker like myself, you will appreciate the value of these Beta Ti balls. These are not a Pro V1 and you hear a difference when putt a Pro V vs a Beta Ti ball.... but if you shoot over 90 for 18 then I'm sure your not paying for Pro V1's. I couldn't tell a difference between these vs the other balls I had in my bag (maxfli, top flight ect..) Good ball for the money, I will buy again.

Not the real Titleist Pro V1

When you examine this ball closely you will find they have a seam. Compared against local store purchased balls and distinctly different. I purchased two dozen and examined every one. Either these balls are defective, seconds or substituted for the real pro V1.

1st PRO-V1 Purchase - ONLINE

This was the first time that I've used AMAZON and also the first time purchasing golf equipment ONLINE. These arrived much earlier that estimated; in excellent condition. I purchased these as USED, but..........they played like new and I couldn't tell a difference. Definetly will use AMAZON and this vendor in the future.

I know several avid golfers who swear by the ProV1 golf ball and I've read that it's the ball most touring professionals. I was buying them as a gift, and I checked around and could not find them priced lower than at Amazon.

Built for Golfers
Weighing in at just 6.8 ounces with batteries and boasting a transflective color 3-inch touchscreen, the Approach is your featherweight fairway guide regardless of the lighting conditions. IPX7 waterproofing means that the device can withstand accidental immersion as well--but thankfully, you'll be avoiding water hazards, of course.

Touch Your Target
Need to measure distances for your next shot? Touch any point on the sunlight-readable display, and Approach shows the precise distance to that exact spot--fairway; hazard; landing area; or the front, middle, and back of the green.

Get on the Green
Zero in on the pin with Approach's Green View. Just tap the flag on the map to zoom in on the green--then you can drag the flag to position it where you see it, giving you more accurate yardage.

Customer Review :

Quality Control Failure

Because I am so fond of Garmin products I didn't want to believe some of the reviews describing the difficulty of reading the Garmin, G5 Approach display. Mostly because there seem to be an equal amount of reviews describing poor visibility and at the same time praising the device without mentioning the display. I thought surely Garmin R & D or Quality Control representatives actually took the G5 out in all weather conditions and would have surely noticed such poor visibility - so I paid the $300 and waited with anticipation. Only I was quickly disappointed that while in the sun, shade or cart, I found myself straining to see clearly the displayed information. It was even more apparent when I stood next to my golfing partner and compared his SkyCaddie - it was ridiculously clearer!

I regretfully returned this GPS to Amazon at a 15% loss in the refund amount. Although I want a golf GPS desperately, I will wait for Garmin to come out with a newer version that should at least have a brightness and/or contrast display adjustment. I love the fact that after paying for the unit, there are no additional fees for subscriptions or downloads.

Excluding the display, everything else about the G5 is fantastic however, not being able to read the information on the screen is something that can't be overcome!

Expected More

The device works fine, but I expected more for $300.

Screen - Many complaints have been written about the screen. While it's not the best I've seen, it does the job. Yes, sometimes I had to move it slightly because of the sun, but no big deal. The screen size and detail are more than adequate for an average golfer.

Functionality, GPS - Overall, I'd say this was good. After the unit acquired the satelites, it offered me list of the closest courses. Since I normally turn it on at the clubhouse, the course I was playing was listed on top. You then enter the "play" mode and it shows you an overview of the first hole. If you are starting on a different hole, just use the arrow buttons on the screen to cycle through the holes. When you complete a hole, the unit automatically advances to the next. I liked the automatic hole advance feature, but you can turn it off if you like.

Functionality, scoring - The unit can keep score for up to 4 players. You press the upper left corner of the screen to access the score. This was fairly easy to learn and I liked the feature.

Functionality, statistics - I was really looking forward to the statistics feature. I don't have a good feel for how far I hit each club, so I thought this would help my game. The statistics area had several issues. The biggest problem is that it locked up on me twice while trying to enter the data. On both occassions, nothing was lost but I did have to "reboot". Another problem is that you're limited to woods and irons. I carry both a 5 iron and 5 hybrid. The statistics won't let me differentiate between the 2.

Battery - Maybe I just got a bad unit, but my batteries barely lasted a full round. After my first round, we went back to the clubhouse to compare scores. I tried pulling my score up on the gps and it would die. Fortunately, it saves your last round in memory, so I was able to retrieve everything once I got back to the house. Other reviewers have stated they can get 2 rounds out of a set of batteries, so maybe I had a defective unit.

Summary - I definitely liked the unit overall. I returned it due to it locking up, but I haven't heard any other complaints about this happening, so I'm assuming mine was defective. However, even without the lockups, I don't think this is worth 300. If it were closer to 100, I probably would have asked for an exchange instead of a refund. But for 300, I expect a lot more than what the Garmin offers.

G5 VS SG3 Skycaddie

I have used a SkyCaddie SG3 for the past few years. This year they raised the annual fee from $39. to $49. and I got fed up. I purchased a Garmin G5 that has no annual fee and I am very pleased. The picture is in color, gives you a view of the total hole and has much more detail that the SG3. If I want to get a yardage to any spot on the hole all I do is place my finger tip on the spot and you will immediately get the yardage from where you are to the spot and them from the spot to the green. The SG3 will only give you info to certain selected spots. the Garmin will keep your scores and the number of puts as well as the number of fairways hit. They have thousands of coursed preloaded and when they add more you don't have to pay any charge. I am well satisfied.

Finally a functioning golf gps...

This is the best golf GPS I've used, I had owned 2 iGolf units prior and they were a non-functioning nightmare - so was their customer service, they totally suck. The Garmin G5 however is awesome, no yearly membership fees, You can zoom in and pick points to check the distance. So far it's been 100% on the money w/ sprinkler head distance markers. This thing rules, buy it!

Garmin

Garmin is a great GPS and there is not a monthly fee. However the course yardage was too small for my eyes.

Great value for the price

I use a lot of tees - I mean a lot. I don't know why but I break them on almost every hole. So I use a lot of them. Usually they are quite expensive but not these. I got 500 tees for about ten bucks - about 2 cents a tee. And if you're not like me and don't break a lot of tees this will be an even better deal. I'll buy more when these are gone - hopefully not for a long time.

They're tees and they're cheap...can't go wrong.

These are great golf tees and there are 500 of them...should be good for my balls for a while.

Great deal

I just got these in and used them for a couple of rounds. This is a great deal and they work fine.

A steal!

Not much to say. Check your local prices. These are a steal compared to local sporting goods store prices. A few mis-shapen tees in the bag. I had to throw them away. Out of 500, there were about 5 bad ones we couldn't use. We used a marker to mark the depth like you see on more expresive tees. I will buy these again.

awesomeness

These tees are simply amazing, good quality, good legnth for all clubs, and cheapest I've ever seen. GREAT BUY

Question : What Golf Country Club in the Bellevue Washington Area is affordable for a family?
We are a family of (4) considering relocating to the Bellevue, Kirkland, are of Washington. We love to golf and belong to an affordable golf club in the twin cities. Is there something affordable out in the Seattle area that would offer housing close by, or possibly on the golf course?

Answer:
No. If you are looking for "affordable" then, stay in the twin cities. This is the equivalent of asking if you can find a affordable house on Lake of the Isles...Bellevue and Kirkland are the heart of the posh east side Seattle suburbs. Look to pay anywhere from 700K up to be close to a golf course. Microsoft & it's millionaires have driven up prices in the area. You might find affordable and golf course way out in the far northwest suburbs (Monroe, Snohomish) or the southwest suburbs (Black Diamond, Covington) - Then you are stuck with multi hour commutes each way to Seattle. I have looked and there is no way to specify on the local real estate websites 'golf course' so, if you want to pursue it, contact a Realtor at one of the two big agencies below: John L Scott or WindermereGood Luck

Question : Is it legal to drive a golf cart on a private course while intoxicated?
I golf frequently at a private golf course near my house. They serve alcohol on the course (a snack cart drives around) and I sometimes see people bring their own flasks of liquor to the course. I often see people who are drunk driving the golf carts. Is it legal because it is on private property or could you get a DUI for that? I live in Colorado.

Answer:
I know a guy who lost his drivers license for 10 years for a third DUI. He was on a bicycle.

Question : What brand of golf clubs is best for a chick starting out?
I want to start playing golf. I'm 22 years old and I've done a little research on golf clubs. I knew going into this that Callaway is probably the best brand, but its also really expensive. Is Wilson a good brand for Women's golf clubs? I want to spend no more than 2 or 3 hundred dollars on a complete set to start out with. Is that reasonable?

Answer:
Hello future golfer. I have been playing golf for about 5 years now. I use a non-brand set of clubs (Gear 2 Golf) it cost for the whole set about 350.00. I know the name is generic but these clubs have a softer feel to them and allow some forgiveness to mistake shots. All I can say is care full with brand names around that price. They are mostly true-hit clubs( as in they have no forgiveness to them). Hope this helps, good luck in your search.

Question : What type of golf clubs does a beginner need for a round of golf?
I just finished up a golf class last week put on by ESPN in which they gave you a set of Nike Ignite clubs to get started, namely; 4-9 irons, pw, 3-hybrid and a putter. I added a cheap driver (which I'm planning on upgrading to a Nike Summo) and a Wilson 58 deg sand wedge as well. I have played the past two months with this set and feel that I may need more fairway clubs especially for the 5 pars. I'm getting mixed up between some saying I need a 3 and a 5 wood while others say I need 5, 7 and 9 wood. As well, I'm mixed up whether I should get hybrids (like the #3 that I have) to take the place of the woods. Does anyone have suggestions on what I should get to complete my set? BTW, I do like wedges and would like to add either a LW or a GW to my set. Thanks!

Answer:
The ideal set for the intermediate golfer would start with Game Improvement irons. You still need forgiveness but you'd also like a little more feel and control. If you tend to hit your irons well you might be ready to consider a regular 4 iron, otherwise stay with your hybrid 4.For your distance clubs add a little less loft on those fairway woods and hybrids to maximize distance. You might be ready to drop your 5 hybrid and replace it with a 3 hybrid.Your driver is still oversized with about 10-12 degrees of loft to maximize distance and accuracy. Shaft selections may be the most important component. You want a shaft that matches your swing speed and ball flight requirements. Perhaps a draw bias to help get the drive moving a little more right to left.Your wedges can be reconfigured. A gap wedge or a lob wedge are possibly good additions. If three wedges are your choice you may want to distribute the lofts from your PW to your LW (46, 52, 58 degrees). You may want wedges with less bounce so you can hit them off of tighter lies. For a putter an intermediate you may have already settled on what works for you, but if you are ready to try something new, one of the new MOI maxed mallets would be a good choice.Set configuration should be: Woods (1, 3, 5) Hybrids (3, 4) Irons (Game Improvement) (5-PW, SW, LW), Putter

Question : What makes golf one of the most expensive sports?
Well i've never golf but i do watch all those people golfing on my telly, so it makes me wonder that whenever my uncle said that he went golfing the other weekend - my other relatives would be like WOW cuz well, golfing is expensive and the "rich" would always be the one that could afford to play for leisure for a sport like that. So why, why is golf expensive? Is it the golf set?

Answer:
yes the equipment is very very expensive in to days economy. the golf course is built on many acres of prime real estate. the cost of maintaining a golf course extremely high. very expensive sport. prices are not going up. courses are afraid to raise cost due to economy. same applies to equipment companies. it helps to be rich. but the average person. can afford one round a month.

Question : What is a good golf game to play if you are sponsering a hole at a golf tournament?
Our company is sponsoring a golf tournament. We are going to be sponsoring some of the holes on the tee boxs handing out prizes. We need a game that we can play for the prizes. We have one game where the players try to hit a tennis ball into a bucket and if they get it in, they get a prize, but we need some more ideas for our other holes. Please Help with some ideas that you guys have done at golf tournaments, or just ones that you have heard of.

Answer:
Let's not forget about the all important and highly regarded closest in 2 shots. (On a par 4 or par 5.) Most alcohol consumed?

Question : How do I become a certified PGA golf professional and what is a good site for golf jobs?
I played college golf and worked at the King & Bear of World Golf Village and took the P.A.T. once and passed it very easily. I keep thinking I should become a PGA Professional because that is all I like besides sex, LOL. The thing that keeps me from pursuing it is that the pay is awful. I know these are a bunch of questions, but any suggestions from a golf pro would be helpful. Thanks!

Answer:
I worked at a very exclusive Country Club for many years but not as a pro, I worked in outside services. I worked with a lot of pros though. The hours are extremely long, we were open 6 days a week and the Head Pro and the two top teaching professionals there worked 6 days a week. The other pros basically worked the exact same job I did which was outside dealing with the members, setting up tournaments and making sure everything was running smoothly. Those guys were not paid that well and usually worked 5 days a week, sometimes 6 on salary so over 40 hours didn't pay any extra. The Head Pro was very well paid and the two teaching professionals did well but were obligated to give some of their lesson rate back to the club. Anyway if you are interested here is basically what you have to do :Step 1Work in one of the positions designated by the PGA as meeting the Eligible Employment requirement. This requirement must be met in order to register for the PGA/PGM program. The PGA has a classification of acceptable positions. An applicant must have worked a 6-month period out of the 12 months prior to application. Step 2Pass the 36-hole Playing Ability Test (PAT). There is a rather complicated formula that determines the exact scores that must be equaled or bettered, but a generally, an applicant must play 36 holes 15 strokes over par or better. Step 3Complete an apprentice registration form. This verifies employment and documents that an applicant has reviewed the details of the Professional Readiness Orientation (PRO). At this time an applicant also pays an apprentice fee for the national and sectional PGA. An applicant then earns the title of PGA apprentice.Step 4Work a three-year period as a PGA apprentice in a position that is sanctioned by the PGA. During this three-year period, an applicant must also pass checkpoints for three different levels. These checkpoints are a demonstration of proficiency in golf instruction and principles of business and management

Question : How important is Golf in getting ahead in the business world?
I just read that some business school is requiring that its grad students learn golf since many business deals are made on the gofl course. Is this true? Does it just hold true for men? Is is a 'boys club' or are business women on the golf courses too?

Answer:
YES - golf has become an important tool in business nowadaysIt has become a ripe place for- opening business doors or closing deals- entertaining clients or being entertained- offers bonding time with your boss, colleagues in corporate meetings or out of town conferences - if you are trying to impress your boss - even just to become the golf buddy of your boss can do wonders for your career
