Customer Review :
New golfer or looking to improve, this is for you.
Tom Watson is one of the contemporary greats of the game. He got where he is by observing the best in golf and by listening to advice from the masters. In Lessons of a Lifetime, we get to listen to Mr. Watson share some of that knowledge with us. The DVDs take the viewer through the most important aspects of the game from swing basics to hitting particular shot types. His teaching is interesting, clear and easy to follow. As good as Tom Watson is, he continually makes references to others from which he learned important lessons and does not take the credit for himself alone.
I believe these DVDs are well worth the cost and will likely serve well to help many golfers improve their game.

Golfer of a Lifetime
TW, the original, is one of the all-time great golfing legends. And the legend continues to grow, as we all witnessed at Turnberry and even this year at the Masters. That a champion golfer would be asked to produce an instruction video is no surprise and traces its history all the way back to Bobby Jones' Hollywood golf instruction videos produced in the 1930's. "Lessons of a Lifetime" was obviously made by very intelligent man who has spent a lot of time thinking about the golf swing. And it takes a certain amount of introspection and humility to admit that despite having won 8 majors, he didn't completely understand the golf swing until 1994 when he says he discovered "the secret". There is a grainy video on YOUTUBE where while at an exhibition obviously conducted for an outing or pro-am, TW tells the audience that he didn't know how to swing a golf club until 1994. The audience is heard laughing. This guy's won 8 majors, ha ha, they were thinking. It wasn't until a few moments later when he elaborated further that they suddenly understood he was quite serious. Let me just say this as an avid golfer used to paying an hourly rate of $100-120 for golf tune-ups: this is the best instruction I have received, probably ever. I didn't say best video, I said instruction, period, live or on tape. Take a look at the simplicity of his swing. Compare it to the many videos you can find on the web of Ben Hogan. While they differ in plane--Tom is more upright--both are exemplars of simplicity and efficiency. I have Hogan's book, Five Lessons. I used to refer to it often. It was trail blazing in its analysis, the new benchmark for golf instruction. I would put TW's CD's in the same camp, except his instruction is far far easier to understand. There's something cryptic about Hogan's supination and pronation thesis-- gives me a headache frankly, and I've been a single digit handicapper for close to 40 years! These are fantastic golf lessons set in a bucolic setting at the Greenbrier. I could go on about how TW's approach is so much simpler and useful compared to today's back breaking contortions advocated by the guru's. But I will stop here: Tom Watson is 60 and his golf swing still works effectively at the highest levels of golf. Most former golf champions his age, spend their mornings in traction to relieve back pain before going off to do a few small appearances here and there. Tom Watson's lessons are well worth half the price of one lesson with your local pro. Hogan's "Five Lessons" is back on the book shelf. I don't think I'll be needing it anytime soon.

Well Done Mr. Watson
What is the secret to Tom Watson's success over the years? I was hoping he would tell me in one short hour so I could go out and score in the low 70's or maybe in the 60's. Well that's not going to happen real soon. But Tom did an excellent job in reviewing the fundamentals that will benefit golfers at any level. His comprehensive explanations cover many aspects of the game from womb to tomb in a clear concise manner. I now know his secret and with a little practice maybe I can beat the other three in my foursome. The two DVD set with booklet are about the same price as a round of golf with a portion going toward the Bruce Edwards Fund. I recommend this excellent piece of work by Tom Watson.

good product, if hitting for less than a month, easy to tear and "grass" easy to come off, all glued product

The turf separated from the rubber backing after about 100 balls hit. Cheap glue is my guess. Waste of money.

Practice hitting mat.
The mat arrived in excellent condition. I appreciated the two practice tees of differing length. Unfortunately, hitting balls off of the mat surface leaves a green residue on the clubs that takes some scrubbing to remove.

Does the job
Maybe the poor reviewers received "lemons" but the one I have is great! It serves its purpose well and has helped me keep my sanity by allowing me to practice my swing inside during the snow storms. The two tees (of different height) also help simulate tee shots with your driver and irons.

Plastic waste
Maybe this can help some people, but to me it's nothing more than a cheap piece of plastic that is way over priced. I tried it several times but for the life of me, I couldn't understand why some of the golf pros would recommend this thing. Money, I suspect. Save your money and buy something that really works...

Great tool
I'm not going to be getting my Tour card anytime soon. I just like to go out and be fairly competitive with my friends. My swing has taken a turn for the worse. I bought Ben Hogan's book and it is great, but coupled with this tool, I was able to fix my swing. It gives me confidence to swing the club properly. Through muscle memory, I am able to go to the driving range and be able to fix aspects of my swing. I don't think it takes the place of lessons, but it helps with swinging if you already know the concepts and can practice with it. I use it in my living room.
Rating :
A Piece of Plastic!
The turn-off is the price, but I don't regret buying it. I keep it attached to a spare club. This aid helps me focus on a flat left wrist at the top of my backswing. Then, it helps me develop lag by remaining in contact with my forearm during my downswing. In the follow thru, it helps keep my swing on-plane by coming back in contact with my forearm.
I buy training aids & do drills to improve my game. After a few months with a product, I'll sell it on craigslist. I'll sell the Swingyde, when I stop playing golf.
Rating :
good product
My swing had deteriorated to the point I did not want to play. So I bought this product and a couple very good instruction manuals as well as a cheap hitting mat and some wiffle balls. The good news is that I am going to start playing again next week and I think my swing will be better than it ever was eventually.
While I do not think that the Swingyde itself solved my problems it was one of many building blocks in helping me understand and gain a feeling for a proper swing. For the price it is a good tool to have and one I will use occasionally for checking proper wrist hinge.

Customer Review :
I suggest you buy a lower tension to start or buy 2.
I'm 6'1", 230 and workout regularly. I thought the heavy tension would be fine. For fewer reps it is, but for driving and at work, I bought the medium. It's also much harder to do fingers individually even if you can do the whole hand. I can feel the effect at least up through my elbow. Nice piece of equipment. I used to use the ones with handles and a metal spring, but after a few months, they all broke.
Rating :
Excellent Product
I had 2 of these gripmasters from about 8 years ago. One of em I lost a long time ago, but the heavy tension traditional black model gripmaster i had held up under almost constant use the entire time, until about a month ago when the little internal plastic spacers started breaking out and it became very hard to use(although still usable). These new ones seem much higher quality, and although the pad for your palm on the back is taking a little getting used to, I am liking them very much. Excellent Workmanship, excellent product.

Gripmaster Pro is in
I love this little device. I only purchased it to build my fingers up for better typing and it did just that, but it did more. I have stronger hands, fingers, and people are afraid to shake my hands. I think that's their way of telling me to move up to the extra heavy tension. I might just do that. Highly recommended.
Rating :
Good hand exercise but a bit cumbersome
The gripmaster pro works the muscles of the hand and forearm well but for someone who has small hands,I find the pro version is a bit too big. The regular version fit my hand better but if you have average or big hands, the pro version would be right for you.
Rating :
It Just Works
Hand exercise is nothing new to me, neither is most other types of exercise or workout. But the loss of hand movement is a scary thing.
This time around I damaged a nerve causing severe restricted finger movement. So I forced myself to move the fingers as much as was possible. As the nerve repaired, finger movement restored slowly (1/32" or less a day). I believe my constant aggression may have helped. But during this time my fingers became lapse from their 'sleep' time and needed to be worked back to normal, and muscle memory re-gained.
Since I utilize single fingers, some fingers more than others, this exercise devise not only got each finger up to speed it improved their use like never before... Needless to say, if you don't do it it won't get done. And that's just the way it is.
For those familiar with regular squeeze devices, this device can perform that way also, naturally.
Does it work? Does it help? Without a doubt.
The only choice to be made is the amount of resistance in pounds you require. I started with 9 pounds dubbed Heavy tension. After the fact I went and got the 7 pounder. I gave it away. But that's me.
There's a plus of portability. I didn't mention this but your regular hand squeeze devices have a varying grip and are problematic to smaller sized hands. The Gripmaster doesn't have this drawback at all, small, medium or large hands. All are good with this one device.

Question : Looking for a good golf training aid.?
I have trouble squaring the face at impact and coming in on a good swing plane. I plan to take lessons but would like to see what else can help. I am considering the ernie else system or the inside approach. Does any one suggest one over the other or even anything else? Thanks
Answer:
I have gone through this as well and let me tell you from experience that a Good PGA Qualified Instructor cannot be replaced by a " Training Aid " A qualified instructor can tell you exactly what you are doing wrong and begin to correct you right away , he can also tell you if you have the right clubs , have you been fitted for clubs ?? a qualified instructor can do all this for you , and yes it will cost you more in the long run but you will be all the happier and better appreciate this Great Game called Golf .You and your Family Have a Great Christmas. Thanks for your kind comments Advocate , its always nice to find someone who calls one names instead of producing facts , Great Job !!!! and by the way I have never seen or used a circular trainer , and a PGA instructor has taken me from a 15 Handicap to a single digit , but that's just me , even though you can only call one names I still wish you a Merry Christmas to you and your family as well , If your nice maybe Santa will bring you some Game !!

Question : Are there any golf training drills, aids or devices for improving ones balance that I can use in my golf?
On a scale of 1 to 10, how important is balance in the golf swing to learn especially for one starting out in golf?
Answer:
I'd say about 16. I got my balance from focusing on the core like squats, sit ups, leg presses, etc.

Question : Has anybody used the new Perfect Connextion golf training aid?
Has anybody used the new Perfect Connextion golf training aid? If so, does it really work, or is it just another gimmick?
Answer:
After teaching thousands of students and explaining the theory and importance of connection, I am thrilled to have such a great product as yours to help me teach. The Perfect Connextion training aid allows my students to actually "feel" the large muscles activating and supplying the power to the golf swing. A common mistake I see with all levels of golfers is the desire to use the small muscles of their hands and fingers to generate power. The Perfect Connextion allows the repetition of a well sequenced golf swing to take place without the ever constant thinking process to inhibit a smooth swing. I have always felt and taught that "your swing is your swing no matter how long it may be", and with the Perfect Connextion you can "feel" the proper swing while putting, chipping, pitching, or hitting full irons and woods." I really feel this product will make the difficult task of acquiring a repetitive swing a possibility for golfers of all levels."Ed CampbellPGA MemberPresidentWorld Golf School Adventures

Question : What is the best golf training aid out today?
What is the best golf training aid out today?
Answer:
My favorite is to take a kid's "floatee" or "water wing", inflate it, and then slip it over your right arm so that the inflated "bubble" rests over the top of your bicep, just past the elbow. Make a swing and notice how your right arm can't collapse on your backswing (it's in a perfect L shape) and how much more width and extension is created. Great, great tool.

Question : Different Golf Training Aids.?
I have been looking at the Medicus Dual Hinge 5-Iron and the SKLZ Refiner 6 iron. The refiner looks to be about the same thing as the Medicus, but it is much much cheaper. Do you know anything about the SKLZ Refiner. Will the iron improve my iron swing as well as my driver swing?PS: Does anyone recommend any other swing training aid? Thanks in advance
