Ultrathon
Product does what it says-the cream application is much easier to apply than sprays, you can control where it goes & where it doesn't. Product also seems to last a bit longer than most sprays.

Works great
I bought this product for a fishing trip to Canada and luckily we had no bugs. I have since used it throughout Ohio on several camping trips and it worked great.

Is this stuff safe?
The product works very very well! It did protect me through a whole day of being outdoors. Bugs still come close. They'll land on me, then take off immediately. At least they're not biting me, but wish they would be repelled beyond arms length! The part that scares me is the warnings about washing skin ASAP, washing clothes that the repellent has been on, not letting animals lick you, it's not for babies. If it's not safe for animals, babies, plastics, or paints, is it safe on my skin?!

I love this stuff
Okay, it works as described. I am prone to get mosquito bites no matter what I use so I expected this to be no different. The first time I used it, where I applied it, it worked great. Where I didn't apply it, I got bit. So eventhough it says not to put it on clothes, I would recommend you do if you dont want to get bit through the shirt. My reason for giving it 4 stars is because this is a very small tube and will not take long to use up. I NEED A BIGGER TUBE!!!

Editorial Review :
Not only does this product repel insects, but will actually kill ticks, mosquitoes, chiggers, mites and more than 55 other kinds of insects. Sawyer® Permethrin repellent is for use on your clothing, tents and other gear. A single application lasts through 6 washings. Permethrin is odorless when dry. During the drying process it tightly bonds with the fibers of the treated garment. It will not stain or damage clothing, fabrics, plastics, finished surfaces, or any of your outdoor gear. Try our easy-to-use treatment methods: military-style soak system and the NEW 24 oz trigger spray. These methods provide protection from mosquitoes and ticks through 6 washings.Permethrin clothing treatments, when applied following Directions for Use, have been determined to have "spatial repellency" against mosquitoes. This means that mosquitoes will swarm around you, but not light on your treated clothing and bite. Also use an EPA registered repellent, such as the Sawyer® microencapsulated Controlled Release 20% DEET, on all exposed skin for further protection from biting and blood sucking mosquitoes. The combination of Permethrin on clothing and DEET repellent on skin forms an "Insect Repellent System." When used as directed on the EPA registered labels, the Insect Repellent System will provide the best protection from biting, blood sucking and disease carrying insects. A well known study conducted by Tom Lillie, Carl Schreck and A. J. Rahe in Alaska in 1987, showed 99.9% effectiveness against mosquitoes biting at a rate of more than 1,100/hr. This protection is far greater than either a DEET based insect repellent or Permethrin can achieve alone.

Works Awesome
Works great I find dead bugs on my shirts now. It definitely kills and repels. CAT OWNERS BEWARE the active ingredient is EXTREMELY TOXIC to felines. Read more here: [...]

Works great but expensive and doesn't work on fleas
This product is a great idea and this particular one works great. However, the price per quantity is hefty. Permethrin can be purchased for a far lower price per ounce in other products but they all say to spray a yard or field. So I don't know if there is some magic formula here that makes it work for clothes or what that would be but I can't afford to buy this stuff again at this price point.
Also it doesn't mention fleas, but in case you're wondering I tried it out myself. I sprayed a small rag until soaked and allowed it to dry as per the instructions. I then captured several fleas and put them under a clear plastic cup with the rag. They lived 4+ days leading to the conclusion that this stuff is not very potent on them.

good buy, not best value
wish description had listed % permethrin and uses, ie how many articles of clothing could be treated, once received box top listed "treats four complete outfits" and is 0.05% permethrin
that way i could've compared to other products, including a dog flea/tick spray I can get locally with 0.05% pyrethrin & 0.10% permethrin called Flea Halt! by Farnam Pet Products @32oz for about half this price
did find it on amazon just now out of curiousity
Flea Halt! Water Based Flea & Tick Spray for Dogs, 32 oz
cost more than the local product, but less than the sawyer (at this moment) with more permethrin

the real deal! Well researched and plenty of safety information
My impression is of a first class company and product. We are visiting Costa Rica with two little ones and had questions about whether this product could be safely used for children's clothing. I called the Sawyer company and was astounded that they took the time to not only speak with me, but to pass my question along to their top technical person who returned my call personally. He shared with me a wealth of information and could answer every question I posed (and many that I did not know to ask). The bottom line for using with children is a)as with all things, ask your pediatrician first and b) they told me they recommend using the aerosoul spray that is available as opposed to the pump if you do use on children's clothing as it will stay on outside surface of the clothing better where the pump spray will tend to soak through the material some. Plenty of other reviews go into general information and I won't repeat here. I was impressed with the wealth of research and extensive safety information that they have on the products they produce. What a great company, the likes of which you seldom see these days! I'll buy from them every time. Btw, they mentioned they also have a time released 20% deet repellent which reduces the amount of deet absorbed twenty fold; good to know if you're in a situation where you decide to use deet on children or in my opinion for anyone that uses deet sprays.

Tick off the ticks!
Sawyers clothing repellent is the best for keeping off ticks and other insects it does not make a difference if you are in your backyard or the Allagash. The product really works and is well worth the price. Amazon gives you the best price so be sure to buy it here.

Loves it
I bought this for my husband to take on deployment. He tried out at home and loved it. Two passes with the towel over his hair and it was like he never even took a shower. The usual slightly damp or clammy feeling left with other towels was no where to be seen. It dries quick and packs very small which are important when living in small spaces.

Great towel!
I bought this towel for a mission trip to Haiti. It was advertised as - compact, absorbent and quick drying. It was all of the above. It was exactly what I needed for 10 days of camping out of a backpack. I got the XL because I was skeptical about the smaller ones - and it was only a couple dollars more. It was actually TOO LARGE. It was larger than a bath sheet at home. Most folks could probably use a MED or LARGE. It was twice as nice as the one I bought at Dick's. Highly recommended.
Rating :
Excellent choice
I purchased 3 of these towels for a recent backpacking trip and they are excellent. The medium size is large enough to dry me off effectively but not large enough to wrap around me if I were walking to/from the bathroom. It folds smaller than a washcloth. The material feels like suede... which is nice when the towel is dry but is an odd experience when the towel is wet. It means you must use to towel to sort of 'dab' the water off you rather than rubbing, as you would with a normal towel.

Wonderful Towel
If you want a full-sized towel that is very absorbant, dries quickly, but is lightweight and packs down well, then this is it. I've used this towel on multiple camp-outs now and it's been great. It works just as described. I really love how well it packs down so it doesn't take up much room in a backpack or day pack, which means I will carry it with me as opposed to many other types of towels that are just too bulky. The little bag it comes with isn't needed, but I've been using when I'm not worried about weight. The strap with a snap on one corner is pretty long which makes it easy to wrap around something to hang the towel up to dry. The one thing I don't like about the towel is that it doesn't slide well across the skin. To a degree you have to pat dry with it. If it didn't have all the other advantages it has, this might be more irritating, but it's just so handy & small... I've been really happy with this and will be purchasing a couple of more for other members of the family.

My favorite Gym Towel
I bought this towel to take to the gym with me. I do a lot of bikram yoga and carrying all the towels/mat/and change of clothes gets a bit cumbersome so I was looking for ways to down size. This towel takes up almost no space in my gym bag, but is sufficient for drying my body and hair after the shower... it's not the most comfy towel, but it's hardly rough or scratchy either and it gets the job done.

Customer Review :
Product DOES NOT WORK if you are moving
Confirmed with SC Johnson that the product is intended for use when you are sitting still. Probably works fine for that. But I bought thinking it was OK to use while I was walking the dogs at the outdoor dog park. Nope. So avoid my mistake: buy only if you plan to sit still on the deck, at the beach, in the park.

Works
I used this while working outdoors on plumbing, also had a large fan blowing air through the area. No mosquitos bothered me.
When it ran out after 2 days (and I could not find my refills), I used repellent spray and was continually battling mosquitos.
So, all I can say is it works better than repellent spray, I'm not covered with oily toxins, and I'm buying a refill pack and hopefully will remember where I keep it this time.

Mosquito Killer Extrordinaire!
This product is an excellent item for use when outside in the summer. We recently took several of these with us when we went on vacation to Southeast Missouri, and they worked great. While others without them we being bitten throughout the evening, those of us wearing the clip-on devices did not have any problems what-so-ever. I would highly recommend this product.

Question : What cosmetic and personal care brands test on animals and which ones doesn't?
I'm trying to go green on hair, makeup, and personal care products not just because of attempting to avoid too many artificial/synthetic ingredients, but also avoid ones that test on animals. Is there a website(s) that has a list of brands that are natural/organic and DOESN'T test on animals?
Answer:
Yes!!!http://search.caringconsumer.com/Yay! I'm so glad to hear that you're concerned. So many people don't care, I can't believe it. There are good companies that don't test on animals, there's no reason to buy from the others. Put them out of business! :D

Question : In, Canada is it called a living will or Power of attorney for personal care?
I'm in law right now and I'm doing my summative. We got the written part back already and my teacher had written that in Canada they don't call it a living will, they call it a power of attorney for personal care. I tried looking it up but it say Canada has both of them.
Answer:
A living will and power of attorney are two different things and they both exist in Canada. You can have a POA for personal care and a POA for financial decisions.

Question : what are some alternative personal care/beauty products that are good for the environment and why?
what are some alternative personal care/beauty products that are good for the environment?...and why are they good?
Answer:
Apple cider vinegar is great as a clarifying shampoo and it brings out all the highlights. Is also great for sun burns. Don't have to worry about it in the water system.Witch Hazel (found near the rubbing alcohol) is a great skin toner. It is a natural herb and has been used for years.Chamomile tea is good for the hair, too. Brings out the highlights. It is another natural herb that won't damage the water supply. Peppermint tea bags (steeped, then cooled) or cucumber slices are really great ways to reduce eye puffy-ness. The cukes can go in your compost pile and you can drink the peppermint tea before or after you de-puff your eyes! If you grow your own mint, it will help keep the mice away, too (they don't like the smell).Make your own body exfoliating scrub out of oatmeal or brown sugar, or even sea salt mixed w/ low grade olive oil to make a paste. Exfoliates and moisturizes at the same time and all of the natural ingredients are safe for the water supply. To replace the 'surfer girl' hair solutions you see in the summer, use 3 oz sea salt dissolved in 8 oz warm water and keep in your own reused pump spray bottle. Just shake before using.

Question : What are the benefits of exclusively using organic / natural personal care products?
I just researched all the ingredients in my regular haircare and skincare products and I'm really shocked at how many of them are classified as possible carcinogens! Will I benefit from choosing organic / natural / herbal / homemade personal care products? Just wondering as I've been using synthetic products all my life and haven't suffered any ill effects. Although natural is probably best in the longterm. What do you guys think?
Answer:
There are none (well some people seem to feel good about paying more for inferior products). There are probably just as many possible carcinogens in 'organic' products anyway (hell, practically everything is a possible carcinogen, it just depends on the dose). Realistically if you feed a lot of something to a lab rat you'll probably be able to induce cancer but the amount given to the lab rat will be a lot higher than what you'll end up eating, to the point at which there's no need to worry about it (and naturally occurring foods tend to have a lot of nasty things in them, they aren't the good, healthy, clean foods their proponents would like you to think they are). You haven't suffered any ill effects because synthetic products are in general safer than natural products (which typically haven't even been tested properly).
