Just not what I wanted

Wish if they are selling 1 item, that they would just show picture of 1 item. They can do the colors like the clothes manufacturers do.
If I'm shopping, sometimes I don't read all the print. Oh well.

Also, this is very hard, which they do say, I was just hoping for something with a little more spring in it. That is, I wasn't sure how hard the plastic was until I got it.

Rating :

Disappointed

This product shows five balls, yet there is nothing in the product description that says that you will only receive one ball. This is very misleading. Buying one field hockey ball for nearly $5 plus paying $6 for shipping and handling is NOT a bargain. No one would purchase this item if they knew they would receive only one ball.

Questions & Answers
Question : what field hockey position is easiest to play?
i am a beginner at field hockey and since they have cut freshman sports i am trying out for the jv field hockey team so i was wondering if any of you people with field hockey experience could tell me which position is easy to play

Answer:
No position is easiest, each position is different. It depends on what your fitness is like and your skills depending on where you play.Goal Keeper is difficult because there is a lot to learn, but, if you have good reactions and don't want to be running too much this is a good position to start, but you have to devote a lot of time to it.Defence could be a good position because as long as you know the rules of tackling and listen to your goal keeper you should be ok, but you have to be aware of everything going on around out, and make sure you mark your player, otherwise goals are conceded.Midfield (Centre Half) This position is a difficult one, because you are expected to do a lot of running. You have to move up and support the attack, and track back as soon as the opposition are attacking you. You need to really get in with your tackles etc to play this position.Attack (Wings and Centre Forwad) is a very fun position to play, you generally stay in the oppositions half, making runs with the ball and scoring. However you need to be able to have a strong shot, and skills to get round other players to play this position effectively.I hope that helps!

Question : is there a 14 and under winter field hockey team upstate ny (albany)?
I live in upstate ny (albany) and my friend and i were looking to continue the sport but cant find any where that has a 14 & under girls team close by. Please help us find one!

Answer:
I've never heard of teams in the area but there are definitely indoor clinics like at Capitaland and at local schools like Bethlehem. They usually last the whole winter and really sharpen skills. Good luck with your search!

Question : Trying out for the field hockey team-and I am totally clueless. Want to help?
Okay so i'm going to be a freshman in high school next year. i was on the lacrosse team in eighth grade, but my new school doesn't have a lacrosse team. lots of girls on the team were planning on joining the field hockey team in high school, cuz they're kinda similar. when i went to the tryouts for the lacrosse team, they didn't actually cut anybody, even though some people, including me, had never played before. when my friend tried out for another sport [i forget what] for 9th grade, she said that some people made it onto varsity, and the rest went to jv, but none of them were cut. so basically i'm asking, and what can i expect for the tryouts? do you think that someone who only knows the basic rules, but has never played before, can make it onto the jv team? do they normally cut people on jv teams? and what would we do at the tryouts? since i've never played before, would we actually have to play? or would they just...do drills and such? sorry it's so long! i'm kinda nervous,so...

Answer:
At try outs, expect the first day to be torture. Coaches do not like to cut, they rather get the weak minded to quit. So they run you to death as the warm up, then do a timed run, then go on to drills. Keep at it! If they say run a mile in 8 min or do 2 extra laps do your best and keep going! If you do not know a drill they will pair up experienced with none exp. so they all learn. Even if you have never played, you have a fairly good chance of making JV since that is to train players up to Varsity. They usually do not cut people if they show dedication. If you are unlucky enough to be there and every body is just great and they do cut you do not give up! Some years are like that, other years they will keep any body that shows up. I got cut, but they still let me train with the team and now I am on the team.At tryouts expect drills, running, training, testing, and running. They will probably not make you play, but they may do a mini game or two. Good luck!!!

Question : Are there any field hockey teams I can play on in Massachusetts that's not for a school team?
I'm a field hockey goalie and the high school i'm going to doesn't have field hockey. I live in Massachusetts. If there are any teams near Boston, that would help. But, I would go anywhere in Massachusetts to play. My town's coach is trying really hard to get me to be able to play for them but doesn't think she can get a waiver. I really want to play field hockey. It's my favorite sport and I'm really good at it. Please. Can anyone out there help me out?

Answer:
Hey I live near boston too. Well I do futures which is run by USA field hockey. Here is the website for it: http://www.usfieldhockey.com/futures/index_new.php There are a few ways to join, but I got recommended by a partner camp. There are a bunch of partner camps around here. Here is information on getting in: http://www.usfieldhockey.com/futures/trials/index.php Futures is really good but you only play for like 10 sundays and then there is a tournament at the end. If you want more then there are other teams as well. Lead The Way is another program that you have to tryout for. But there are also programs that you can just join. Its in rhode island I think. heres the website: http://www.leadthewayfieldhockey.com/There is also a program called Cape Ann, I think the tryouts just happened though =(. http://capeanncoalition.comThere are also many other programs out there. I'm really sorry your high school doesn't have a team... maybe you could start a club or something? Good Luck =)

Question : How is boys playing field hockey on a all girls team a safety hazard when field hockey is a non-contact sport?
I was told this by my athletic director, but they say they will look into it. They don't really want us playing anyway, but there is a guy that plays from another school in another district.

Answer:
While field hockey is a non-contact sport, a lot of pushing, and other potenially harmful behaviors. Guys can also hit the ball harder, which anyone who has been hit by a field hockey ball knows, is a major hazard.

Question : I play field hockey, what other sports should I play??
I play defense on a field hockey team and want to play another sport. If anyone has any recomendations that would be great.

Answer:
Soccer as it is very similar in strategy and formations as field hockey. Sports such as golf, tennis, etc....will help your hand eye coordination.Long distance running will help with stamina for game time.

Question : Should I try soccer or field hockey this fall?
I am going to a new school this year and want to try either soccer or field hockey. I really like both sports but have never played on a real team for either one. My dad was an excellent soccer player in high school, went to college on a soccer scholorship and he says he thinks I would have more fun with soccer. My sister lead her field hockey team to become state champs for three straight years. She had a scholorship for field hockey until she had to get surgery shortly after her senior year and thinks I would love field hockey. They both could give me great advice and tips on their sport. So, which one should I choose? I love to run and I am pretty fast. I want to make some really good friends when I start at this school and I don't like drama. Based on your experiences and my situation should I play soccer or field hockey?Thank you so much!

Answer:
Soccer. You said you wanted to make nice friends, and soccer players share a tight bond and are always kind to any team mate. Considering you haven't played either on a real team, soccer will be a lot easier to pick up. It's easy, the job of the defense is to stop the attacker; the job of offense is to score goals; and midfield does everything in between, field hockey is a lot more complicated. You sister seems like she was very good, it will be hard for you to live up to expectations of teammates if they know you are her sister. I play Soccer and I think you would have a ton of fun playing! I bet your dad would have fun teaching you tricks and tips too!

Question : My High School's JV Field Hockey Team Is...?
Filled with girls, even though on the website it just says "Field Hockey JV." I click on it and it shows 2007's image of nothing but GIRLS. I keep convincing my dad its a girl sport. But I don't know if I should ask if they need a goalie. I am 5'9 180 pounds (mainly muscle though) and hate running. I figured that goalie would be a great position for me. But I am just wondering if Field Hockey is a girl sports, and would it make me look gay if I try out for an all girls team?

Answer:
In North America, it is largely considered a woman's sport, and women's teams are more common... Many high schools and universities in North America have women's teams, whereas relatively few have mens or mixed teams...In other parts of the world, it is often played by either sex, be it on gender specific teams, or in a mixed league...

Question : Is using skirts to deter boys from playing field hockey a good idea?
I have a personal interest in this because my cousin who just came to the US from the UK and wants to play field hockey in school has to wear a skirt like the rest of the team to do so.This got me researching into a whole load of stuff on the subject and I am thinking of writing a college paper on this now. I've been reading Chapter 8 of Female gladiators: gender, law, and contact sport in America by Sarah K. Fields which is about boys playing on girls field hockey teams.http://books.google.com/books?id=rGncfH9cG6EC&pg=PA132&lpg=PA132&dq=female+gladiator+field+hoc key&source=bl&ots=aPtCdJHhh2&sig=UpQ0iNtKErTb2_Uo1xt0cXbj7mM&hl=en&ei=DmziSozIC8vj8Qbz_7jqAQ&sa=X&oi =book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAwQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=&f=falseShe's goes through the legal arguments first where some states have allowed boys to play on girls teams and some have not. Currently PA, MA, MD and CA all allow boys to play on girl's teams. But in every case they are required to wear the exact same uniform as the girls which includes usually a kilted skirt or a hockey skirt. On page 149 Fields talks about this in the context of it being a social control method to deter boys from playing. My questions are:a) do you think this would be an effective deterrentb) do you think it is right to use it as a deterrentc) or don't you think it's really about being a deterrent at all, but is just about fitting in.I am interested in getting any and all views on this - whether they are against boys playing period, or for boys playing but in skirts or boys playing and not in skirts etc, as I want to get as many different opinions as I can on this.

Answer:
Answers:a). NOb). NOc). Yes. Fitting in is what it is about! Here's why.... See the answer here someone asked about Hockey Skirts for Guys (site below) then look at the answer that starts out... "Sheesch...What's the big deal? Ask..."http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091024230106AAGEen1&r=w#NbUvWzG6VzmKKDTwE06_Aft er looking at this tell us why this should even be an issue...A Hockey skirt is NOT a Kilt. A kilt however is a SKIRT by definition. A kilt is a particular type of skirt usually tartan. There are no laws against guys wearing skirts in any State I know of and Skirts are worn by men as an option in over 70% of the world. Furthermore they are making a comeback since the "Industrial Revolution" has long been over. As part of an uniform it provides better mobility and that applies to both genders. People should get over their homophobic tendencies and consider a skirt as another piece of clothing as unisex has pants have become in recent years. Why this continues to be an issue shows the "narrow mindedness" of those involved. A skirt makes more sense for a male to wear than a female due to anatomy. No crotch seams for the first time! Something females will NEVER understand.

Question : Any advice for an incoming field hockey player?
I am a sophomore in high school and I am going out for my school field hockey team this season. Is there anything I should know about the sport?

Answer:
Why is everything about field hockey in the hockey section?
