Customer Review :
Nice Ball
This is the one. Very nice feel and performance. I've used the colored balls and even though they should be the same, I've always found them harder than the all white ball. Be careful when inserting the needle. If there is resistance, start over; if you try to jam it through, you could punch a hole in the side of the valve. Also, write your name on the ball or else some hoodlum might be tempted to steal it.

One of the Best
This is one of the softer leather volleyball in the market. It feels good all around. However, with the same price as Mikasa MVA200, I end up exchanging for the Mikasa.

Great volleyball but not for kids
My 9 year old daughter just started playing volleyball and I was determined that she was going to play with a quality ball and not feel like her arms (and mine) were taking a beating. I thought the ball would be a lot softer than it is (it's not bad though). I should have gotten her the Molton 12U ball, but at the time I didn't know about them. They are perfect for youths. Never the less, this is a great ball, but there are better ones for young kids just starting out.

The only ball for indoor volleyball
The Tachikara SV5W is so much better than the competition, that it is the dominant ball in all the leagues I have played in or managed.

Tachikara SV5W Gold Competition Premium Leather Volleyball (Scarlet/White/Navy)
The Tachikara Gold Volleyball is the only one I will purchase; it has a great touch and feel for the level of play I'm involved in - Intermediate. This is the best serving ball from my experience; I serve hard with heavy top spin. Until broken in well, the touch may feel slick, especially when setting and sweat from the arms of the passer stays on top of the ball. Once broken it, that sweat will get absorbed quickly and not be an issue. I really like the color choices; it helps you see what the ball is doing and allows you to position quicker to receive. Digging a hard spike does not sting like most other balls. Tachikara SV5W Gold Competition Premium Leather Volleyball

Great Volleyball
Great all around volleyball. I've been using it for over a month now and the volleyball is holding up well. It's soft enough to where it doesn't leave a sting, yet hard enough for hard hitting spikes. The color is distinctive. This has become the ball of choice at our volleyball get togethers.

Great recreational volleyball
I play in a recreational volleyball league. We supply our own volleyballs for the games. Both teams agreed to use this volleyball. It took just a few minutes to break it in. All the players really liked it. Some comments: It doesn't hurt as much when you receive a hard spike. You can put a lot of spin on it. It's easy to control sets. You can hit it really hard. It feels really light. Definitely a keeper.

Great Volleyball
The Tachikara SV5WSC is a great volleyball for intermediate players because it is signifigantly softer than the balls that higher players like to crush at you. With this one there are fewer bent fingers and various bruises. It is also a great ball for practice bumping with a good grip that is easier to control.

Black and White Vball
This is the very best bang for the buck in a Volleyball. They get soft quickly and stay soft until they give up the ghost and die. They last a long time and all my players prefer this model hands down.

LOVE IT
This is a great ball. It was pretty hard when we first started playing with it, but it's been worn in and now it's our favorite ball. Everyone at out YMCA league even likes using it.

not satisfied the first time
I have purchased lots of items from Amazon. This is the first time I have not been satisfied. I purchased a leather volleyball and when I received it I couldn't believe the quality. It looked like a child pasted it together. I called them right away and they sent me a knew one out right away. The second one was ok but not as good as the ones I see at the gym. I was very dissapointed in the quality of the ball but pleased how they took care of it. I would definately buy from amazon again I just hope the quality control is better.
Rating :
Mediocre construction
These balls are highs school sized so they run a little smaller than regulation. The leather material corners on the balls I purchased started to peel up which means the adhesive process used to adhere the leather needs to be changed. The balls are super hard but will break in with time. It would be nice if the manufacturer would pre treat the leather to soften them up. With that said, the balls play very well.

Good value for indoor volleyball
I think this is a pretty good value for an indoor volleyball. It has soft feel and seems to be constructed fairly well. I wouldn't recommend playing with it outside very much. Satisfied with the purchase.

Good for the price
For $25 I did not expect a professional looking Tachikara volleyball. you can see what looks like seams on a few of the panels. I am not concerned with the looks though. I just needed a ball that would withstand "barn-ball" players that rent our gym. I think it will do very well. I will update my review in a month or two. and buy more if it holds up.
Rating :
Solid choice
This volleyball is maybe the best value out there. Ok, it's not as good as the gold tachikara (which feels feather light, soft, and is super responsive), but this ball is close enough to justify not spending the extra $. Any other ball in this price range will hurt you with it's synthetic or low quality leather. No red arms from this ball.
Buy this ball for open gym, or practices. Save your expensive ball for games only.

Tachikara's Sensi-Tec® composite leather cover is the next best thing to your leather game ball and the answer to your strained budget due to its durable and leather-like nature.
Customer Review :
Great Playability
This ball is great, it's soft and can do pretty much anything you want with it. You can hit a spinner or a floater. It isn't too far off from the SV5W Gold, but this has more durability.

LOVE this ball!
After researching tons of different balls, I decided to go with this one and I have not been disappointed. Everyone wants to play with this ball wherever I take it because of the soft-feel. Compared to the 2008 Molten Olympic volleyball, this ball is so much softer and feels better all around. It doesn't hurt your arms when you pass it either. Love it, love it, love it! I will definitely buy another one when the one I've got wears out (which won't be anytime soon). I highly recommend it, and for the price, why not buy two?

Questions & Answers
Question : I need a digital camera to take indoor volleyball photos. I have limited cash & I'm an amateur. Any ideas?
I will be taking photos of indoor volleyball matches. I do not have much photography experience. Does anyone have a good suggestion for a camera? I need price to be under $800. Thanks!!
Answer:
OK, here is the short, short version.1. You need a digital SLR or dSLR. 2. You need 'fast glass' or a lens with an aperture of f2.8 or greater. Even better a f1.7 or 1.4 lensdslr cameras can take cleaner pictures at the high ISO settings you will need to get the shots. You will need to set your camera at ISO 800 at the min, and as high as 3200 if you want a fast shutter speed to freeze the action. On the cheap, check out Sony's Alpha A200, it's about $500 with a cheap zoom lens. Find a 50mm f1.7 minolta lens for about 100 bucks (sony uses sony and minolta glass) and you are ready to go. No zoom, but it's sharp and good for low light.Canon on the cheap, get the old model Xti or the new XS, same as above add a fast 50mm prime lensNikon on the cheap, the d40x. the D60 is good, but after adding a 50mm prime, and memory card, you could be over budget.Ignore the 'don't buy Sony' comments, just a nikon or canon owner that hates Sony.A flash won't reach in such indoor sports when you are far away, and most venues frown upon flashing because it can blind or distract the players, so don't worry about flash. Since you are new to photography, I'd go with one of the cameras I've mentioned, add a 50mm prime lens (a fast low light zoom is mega bucks) put the camera in auto, you'll get much better results than a compact digital camera.Good luck

Question : Do you like to watch Olympic Beach Volleybaal or indoor Volleyball?
I take beach volleball, since is much quicker and more excitement not to mention sexy outfit and cheerleader, while indoor volleyball is like thing of past i think.
Answer:
I play volleyball recreationally and appreciate the skills of both indoor and beach volleyball players. I have a tough enough time playing 2 on 2 indoors and they are doing it on the beach. I prefer to watch indoor because there is lot of hitting than beach volleyball which involves more dinks, dumps and cut shots.

Question : where can I play indoor volleyball in New York City?
I am looking for a sport club or some gym that I can play indoor volleyball.
Answer:
One of the biggest and best leagues is http://www.nyurban.com/. The have over 20 divisions, from "AA" Club level down to picnic/jungle ball level.Another great league is http://www.bigcityvolleyball.com/. The Big City league also has a wonderful tradition of funny team names: http://www.bigcityvolleyball.com/pages/BynumHall.html.Between both of these leagues, you should have some great volleyball experiences.

Question : what do i need to wear for indoor volleyball practice?
my friends and i are joining an indoor volleyball team, what do wee need to wear for practices?
Answer:
For indoor volleyball practice I typically bring (and as team manager ask other players to bring) the following: -A volleyball with your name clearly written in permanent marker-Breathable cotton T-shirt, tank top, or cami-For female players, wear a sports bra and have your hair pulled back-Shorts, spandex is often preferred but not required (I dislike it, myself)-Knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist bands-High athletic socks or knee socks are optional-Good indoor "gym shoes" or running shoes-Bottled water OR sports drink--A Note on Jewelry: long necklaces and chains should be tucked into your shirt, metal bracelets should be removed before playing. Dangle earrings should be removed and left out or replaced with posts. Good luck.

Question : What are the differences between indoor volleyballs and beach volleyballs?
What are the differences between indoor volleyballs and beach volleyballs?
Answer:
Indoor volleyballs have a different leather and a higher internal pressure.Outdoor volleyballs have treated leather in case they get wet. They have lower internal pressure and are heavier in order to recuce the effects of wind.
|
Question : What's the difference between outdoor volleyballs and indoor volleyballs? Are they made differently?
What's the difference between outdoor volleyballs and indoor volleyballs? Are they made differently?
Answer:
Outdoor volleyballs have lower internal air pressure. They feel spongy and more bouncy. They are heavier to stop their movements in the wind. (You should try an indoor ball in the wind.) The outdoor ball has some treatment to prevent damage from moisture. You can get an outdoor ball wet without permanent damage. You can not do that with an indoor ball. Once an indoor ball gets wet, the leather gets hard and brittle.

Question : In what ways has Beach Volleyball contributed to USA indoor Volleyball's lack of success?
Meaning has Beach Volleyball played a role in USA (indoor) volleyball poor showings at international competitions. Do you think it has effected the Women or Men's teams more or have both been effected equally? When I said indoor I meant the National program at such events as the Olympics last medal Men 1992 bronze or Women 1996 bronze. FIVB World Championships Men came in 10th and the Women came in 9th.Alot of major NCAA programs go crazy with Men's football coaches and baketball in regards to their salaries only to have a equally rabid alumini demand coach X be fired even though he had a winning season. Hence they then have to buy out his contract for the next decade (slight exaggeration) putting many an athletic department in debt. They then cut the Men's non revenue sports only to blame title IX.
Answer:
I think indoor hasn't been as successful as it should be not because of the AVP, but because of the lack of in indoor equivalent. If there was an indoor pro national league, our national team would probably achieve at least more notoriety, and would attract better players. It's much easier for a skilled player to start in the EVP and advance up to AVP, and they can win more money and fame as they become better, or get better partners, etc; instead of choosing to play overseas or just try out for the national team, there's really no alternative to indoor. Both mens and womens beach teams have become popular, through certain players earlier on such as Karch Kiraly, and it seems to appeal to everyone, whereas indoor volleyball to the general public seems like it's only for a select group of people. But if there was a U.S. indoor pro league, our international standings would probably improve because there would be more options than beach.

Question : What is the diff between an indoor volleyball and an outdoor volleyball?
I need to know because I have an outdoor volleyball and am wondering if I should get an indoor volleyball and what the difference is.
Answer:
There are many differences between indoor and outdoor balls. Mostly, it is the material used and how it reacts to the elements.Using a leather indoor volleyball outside will cause it to become waterlogged - even on a dry day - due to the surroundings and the moisture (humidity) in the air.The stitching/seams is a big difference as well - outdoor balls have stitched seams (the good ones), while the indoor balls are sealed seams. The weight is also different. Using an indoor ball outside on a day with just a little breeze will cause chaos - it will blow everywhere. The outdoor balls are weighted slightly to allow for some breeze (though you can use the wind for your serve effectiveness). Using an outdoor ball indoors isn't really that huge a deal, but the play will be different. Best bet is to use an indoor ball indoors. You will get much better indoor play, and you will look like you know what's up.I own both, and I am glad of it. Best outdoor ball is the Wilson AVP silver or gold series (very soft leather, and they are WONDERFUL in durability). Best indoor ball (I think) is Tachikara is the way to go. Mikasa has a good ball for indoors, too. Go to a reputable sporting goods store and they can explain everything too you, and get you the best ball for the money (most expensive is not always the best).

Question : Which is a better shoe for indoor volleyball - Asics or Mizuno?
I'm starting my indoor volleyball season within the next few weeks and its about time to get new shoes - any suggestions on which brand/type to look for?
Answer:
both things have their benefits, like take what people tell you from experience on here but try it out for yourself because shoes are made different to support different feet/different types of players and to help with some aspects rather than others for eg, if you have weak ankles and dont like ankle braces choose shoes that rise a bit higher or have speical ankle support. general idea is like with everything, try it out, you're individual, ur playing is individual, your needs are individual
