mom of polo player
My son is a Jr. in h.s and plays water polo. I wanted to get him a polo ball for Christmas so I shopped around online and found the best price on Amazon. The ball was delivered very quickly and I was very happy with it as was my son.

Varsity sized Ball
Be careful when ordering this item. The description says mens competition ball but it is size W5000 (womens or varsity) not W6000 so look for the right size.

Editorial Review :
Since FINA was so happy with the water color blue and yellow combo of our new FINA game balls, we thought it was time for the rest of us to have some color too. We checked the pool deck and noticed four primary colors in swim suits. The Mikasa engineers did an "extreme makeover" with the rubber colors and out came this red/yellow men's ball. Not bad, especially if your school colors are also red. We dare to be different. How about you?
Customer Review :
Greatest Ball Ever
Mikasa is still the best game ever. Grip is great and the colors make such an attractive ball to the game.

Good Ol' Mikasa
The name says it all. Good grip, very easy to palm. A little worse for skips though.
5/5 Buy it? Hells yes.

Water Polo
Good price n not to mention I got it with free shipping. Only complaint is that the ball was dirty like it had been sitting around on a dirt floor for a while so didn't look new but the box was in tact. Regardless, it serves its purpose.

mediocre condition
the ball was a bit scuffed up and the box was ripped when received. Ordered ball new and was not sure why it looked a bit used or worn. ball still satisfied purposes ( can you really break something like that?). besides that fast delivery, I guess.

Simply the best
One word says it all "Mikasa". Good quality ball. Brings back memories of high school water polo.

Customer Review :
Decent Polo ball
The ball is nice, but I accidentally left it in the pool for a week so there is this white spot on the side where it was stuck in the chlorine-- that was my fault. The grip is decent, but could be better.
Rating :
Awesome!!!
This ball is great to take home so that you could practice between scheduled team practices, or to use as a warm up ball at games. Just be careful where you leave it because lots of people are eager to steal these balls when at games.

Question : MOVIE (80's ?) about U.S. Volleyball team going to the USSR or Germany - lead character framed by woman spy
I vaguely recall that the movie is called "Spike" or "Volley" but none of these names come up under movie searches. The U.S. volley ball team goes to compete (Olympics/olympic trials?) in Germany or the USSR and the lead volley ball player meets a beautiful women that he spends the night with. Unknowingly, she slips top secret film (or data) in his pocket or backpack and I believe he gets caught when going back to the U.S. through customs. This movie is similar to the movie, "Gotcha" starring the now popular Anthony Edwards (ER), but it's not the same movie. It is slightly possible that the sport may have been another men's team sport like water polo?? But I'm almost positive it is volleyball. --Thank you for your help with the answer!!

Spiker

Question : Water polo conditioning?
I'm now in my junior year of high school, and joining the water polo team (ridiculously late, I know, but for a number of reasons I couldn't devote enough time to a sport my first two years). I'm a good swimmer, much better than at running or football or anything, but not nearly in good enough condition to play water polo really well. Our first game is in two months. Any advice for routines and conditioning that would help get me on the ball with this? I don't expect to be Ahhnold in the water by then, but I do want to get in good shape =D
Answer:
Do a lot of treading water while your hands are above the water line. Anything strengthening your legs and shoulders (medicine ball work).

Question : I'm interested in starting up water polo this year, what are the rules, what fitness level do you require, etc?
I'm starting high school next year, and the high school I'm going to has a water polo team. I thought I'd try that, because it looks fun, and I think there'll be a lot of people who haven't done it before (water polo isn't a sport many people play in primary school) so I won't be the only inexperienced one on the team. I do swimming, but I'm not very fit, I can do only 2 laps of freestyle and I'm puffed out, and can barely finish a fifty of butterfly. Do you need to be fit to do water polo? Also, is it a very aggressive sport? Like, do people often get injured? Because I would only just have a full cast off from a broken wrist when I would start playing, my whole right arm would be quite stiff and weak. Also, how deep is a pool you play water polo in?
Answer:
it is a seriously aggressive game. i played for my first year at high school and it can also be very time consuming. If you want to try out you will need to train up your swimming abilty, you really do need to be fit, at the first tryouts for college we had to swim 6x 50m butterfly as a warmup. The swim training we did we would do an average of 2km swimming a session. you really need to be very fit. The pool we played in was 4m deep which is fairly deep for a waterpolo pool and the average would probably be 2m as they want to make sure noone can touch the ground. therefore you have to be able to tread water for long periods of time. The rules are-you cant hold the ball with two hands unless you are the goalie, you must throw and catch with one-you cannot hold the ball under the water-prevent free movement of a player not holding the ball (ie holding pulling back sinking)-use the wall to hold or push off during play-no bad language-intentional violence, kicking etc-holding the throwing arm of the person with the ball

Question : Should I try out for my high school water polo team?
I've played volleyball for 3 years at my high school, I'm on varsity this year, and run track for 11 I've been on varsity for all 3 years. I'm wondering if in between my seasons I should play water polo to stay in shape. Will it hurt my ability in my other sports?
Answer:
ABSOLUTELY! Water polo is an amazing sport that if any thing it will improve your abilities in other sports. It is an amazing work out combined with a kick A$$ team sport that is, in my opinion, is the funnest sport I've ever played. I also do Soccer and Track and Love the trifecta!

Question : I have a question about joining a College Water Polo club sport intramural team?
I was just wondering how able i need to be to join as a mediocre water polo player. So how fast and for how long should i be able to swim and how long should i be able to egg beat to be a mediocre to medicore+ player?Keep in mind this is just what i want to be before practices start for water polo hopefully i'll improve as the year continues.
Answer:
On my team, the average layer can swim 300-500m in warmups before taking a break, and tread water for at least a half hour. Eggbeater seems like something that would be tiring, but once you're in the pool, time passes faster than you would think. These are averages, remember. There are kids that can do better and worse than this.

Question : How do I quit my school's water polo team without anyone bugging me about it?
Well here's the deal... I signed up for water polo for the main purpose of learning how to swim( yes i know how stupid i am for signing up for an aquatic sport without knowing how to swim...or tread) and bcuz some friends convinced me.Well now i want to quit because:1. I'm just tired of being in it, i just don't feel up to going to practice to look like an idiot because i'm the only one who doesn't know how to swim and has to do separate excercises.2. Its really discouraging to not be able to ACTUALLY participate.3. I suck even if i try as long as i can.4. i feel there's no point for me being there.5. Lastly, i just feel like a failure when i'm at practice...but i have been going to swim classes but that hasn't taught me much yet. if i do quit (which i most certainly will) i'm going to continue going to classes and go to the swimming pool at the gym dad goes to and practice my failing abilities at swimming.the problem is that some guys on the water polo team go to my church and i see them like every Sunday and They know when i'm there and when i'm not... so yeah... what do i do? Also my parents want me to keep trying but i just can't do it. =(PS i'm such a failure at sportsPPS i plan on training this whole year (freshman) and trying out again for water polo softmore... so there's always that.PPPS: its bad enough i'm only 13!!! i've already almost had a total mental, emotional, and physical breakdown!! i just can't handle the PRESSURE!! WRAAAAAAGGGHGHGHGH!!!!PPPPS: sorry its so long
Answer:
Honestly, it is no big deal to not be good at sports, in spite of what society may think. The easiest way is to simply not try out after your current year. You can't quit if you never start after all. You should find something you are passionate about. Those are the things we most often do well. Even though back in the day, when I was in high school, I wasn't terribly good at sports I enjoy certain ones now, and am also a performing artist. I was good at pretty much everything but sports and math, but by following my passions I found my place.
